I'm surprised they didn't sneak in the Trojans towards the end

Brian Kelly would never.

We're watching the Bama-Free Shoes U game followed by LSU-Clempson with a Tigers fan.

He's not a Kelly fan, so that should be a fun Saturday either way. 😆

I think A&M would be favored on a neutral field against 5-7 of the teams ranked ahead of them.

I would take them over
1. Indiana
2. Tennessee
3. SMU
4. Arizona State (incredibly overrated this year, I think more likely to finish outside the top 25 than make the playoff)
5. Michigan
6. Miami
7. Kansas State
8. Illinois (getting a lot of preseason hype because of their easy ass schedule IMO)

Penn State gets slapped by everyone else in the top 10. What a joke.

I am sure they are ranked partially on their schedule for this year. It's a cakewalk.

They're losing to OSU and Oregon for sure. They're going to need to win the rest to make the playoffs.

Looks pretty good to me. A few thoughts:

- Week one with #1 vs. #2, #5 vs. #10, and #6 vs. #9 will be awesome.
- I think Florida is appropriately ranked, but with that schedule, they'll likely be out of the top 25 by the end of the year.
- At minimum, I'd have A&M over Tennessee.
- ASU at #11? Maybe...they did lose Skattebo, though.

The season is nearing, men! Few more weeks ...

Has any program benefitted from preseason poll inflation more than PSU during Franklin's tenure? Who are they paying off to be ranked so highly? Satan?

23 first place votes is insane. They lost their two best players to the draft. And they were beaten by the good teams they played last year.
...and James Franklin is their coach

I agree, but they are legitimately a top 10 team. Sure, they lost their top two players, but they've still got a lot of talent on defense (including the Jim Knowles addition), one of the best running back duos in the country, and a QB going into this third year as a starter. You know, say what you will on Allar - and I don't necessarily disagree - but, he did throw for 3,300 yards last year. They've got a 2-game schedule (Oregon at home and Ohio State on the road). Penn State will undoubtedly be in the Playoffs next year.

ETA: And I hate Penn State arguably more than any other team/school out there...

Penn State's schedule is also playing into their ranking. It's very easy to look at that roster and that cake walk and know they will be a playoff team, so putting them at 2 is easy when putting a poll together

My father asked me why I don't go penn state games this weekend since I live so close.
I showed him their schedule and said whos coming that's worth seeing?
The only team is already at 600 a ticket.

If it wasn't for the big 10 that schedule would still be 4 home games to start against the Derek Zoolander Center for Kids Who Can't Read Good and Wanna Learn to Do Other Stuff Good Too directional campuses

They return (arguably) #1 or #2 RB room with a solid QB and a couple NFL defenders. They upgraded their DC and the OC is top tier. Lots to like on paper. I think they make the playoffs and give whoever they play hell. But this is why I hate preseason polls... any one of those underperforms or gets injured and they arent a deep team. Its all just handwaiving bullshit.

Texas is NOT the #1 team in the nation.

Not #1

Bunch of fat, balding desk jockeys who, for the most part; only cover a conference or region but we continue to allow them to set the narrative every season before one ball has been snapped?!

Top 10, sure. With their schedule they'd have to really fuck up to finish worse than 10-2, and they certainly should make the playoffs.
Top three is largely based on them having a returning QB while most of the other top teams do not. Someone has to be ranked third, I suppose.
Couple dozen people voting them #1 is delusional and makes me wonder if those voters have ever watched Penn State play a good team.

I said arguably and looking at two stats isn’t really making an argument. lol. Total yards? TDS? Receptions? I’m pretty sure their duo were each over 1000yards.

Again. I think we have the best RB room in the nation but it’s not hard to make an argument that they do to.

People on here act like we beat PSU by 28 points. They gave us a better game than Georgia.

You are exactly right, I think their duo is certainly more proven than ours while I would take our backfield over theirs. Will be interesting to see how Price fares without Leonard taking as many carries as he did
