They certainly didn’t look very good at home against a mediocre Michigan.
True, but maybe that was that one game where a very good team is flat and just doesn't play very good but pulls out the victory. Maybe they use the bye week to watch film to see a lot of their deficiencies from the MI game and they come into the Horseshoe all fired up and maybe, just maybe, they kick OSU's and that half of a man Ryan Day's arses all the way into Pennsyltucky! :ROFLMAO:

Which genius thought it was a good idea to have athletic directors on the committee?

I'm going to be very pissed actually if a mediocre at best Indiana team beats Ohio St when I've been waiting my whole life to watch Notre Dame beat Ohio St
If they beat OSU, it would be hard to call them mediocre.

Or maybe they are and we start calling OSU mediocre. It’d be a 2-loss OSU that struggled against Nebraska and an overrated Penn State.

I don’t think OSU is as good as everyone thinks they are - will howard looks like he doesn’t have it when the lights are brightest.

They might not be great but calling an undefeated power 4 team team this late in the season mediocre is silly. They are averaging 40 PPG again big ten teams this year and are beating them on average by 23.5 points... That is better then mediocre to me.

Agree, but I don't think they will.

They have looked vulnerable, but still a tough out.

ND, even on our weakest schedules, has not had a season this easy. They have beaten one team with an above .500 record. Maybe they aren't mediocre, but we don't have any reason to believe they are any better than BYU or any other past undefeated teams from so-called "weak conferences". If you dilute your conference enough, it doesn't matter that it has Oregon and OSU, it's also a weak conference for teams that don't play the top teams.

I don't think the debate is whether or not they are mediocre, the debate is if they are the 6th best team in the country at this point. Undefeated or not, they're being rewarded for playing the weakest slate among P4 teams. I think what's more frustrating is that no one seems to be talking about it...

I hear your point, it's not easy to go 9-0 against any schedule. But that doesn't make them the 6th best or Penn State the 4th best teams in the country.

Schedule is questionable though.
IU's schedule is very questionable to say the least! After they drub PU in a few weeks, O$U will more than likely be the ONLY team they would have played that has less than 5 losses. Nebraska is a mediocre BIG team, currently has 4 losses and plays @ U$C, Wisco, @ Iowa yet. I doubt they run the table, hence falling into the 5 or 5+ loss team category on IU's schedule. A scUM team that has NO Offensive identity took them to wire @ IU!?! How they are rated (even at 10-0) in the top 5 is beyond me! It's just one of those 'darling' stories for CFB playoff committee.

I agree that they probably aren't the 6th best team in the country but they were specifically called Mediocre in this thread and I was simply stating that isn't true. Just arguing that you can't go 9-0 even if you play low to mid big ten teams if you are mediocre.

Hey now, they have an offensive identity, it’s just based on last year’s signals

So if we assume there are no more major upsets (Which hopefully there are) and #12 Georgia should beat #7 Tenn this weekend and #2 OSU should beat #5 Indiana next weekend. Lets look at the conference championships.

Big Ten would be Oregon vs OSU
SEC Texas vs Bama
ACC SMU vs Miami
Big12 BYU vs Colorado

The winner of the ACC and Big 12 get a Bye and the loser will not finish ahead of us.
If Oregon beats OSU, then OSU should drop below us but if OSU beats Oregon they will both finish ahead of us.
If Texas beats Bama we will finish ahead of Bama but if Bama beats Texas they will both be seeded ahead of us.

Tennessee and Indiana will drop below us with the regular season losses.
Penn State will finish ahead of us with the cake schedule they have remaining.

So we should finish 6-8 depending on what happens during the B10 and SEC championship games. So go ducks and Longhorns. We should have a first round home game regardless though

I think ND can pass them if they thump USC. It will be a common opponent, with both games @USC. Penn State only won by a field goal in overtime.

Yes but they will benefit from being B1G and the fact they’ve been ranked high all season.
It would help our cause if A&M and Louisville can finish strong.

Don't forget about Texas @ TAMU. I wouldn't call it an upset if A&M won. And that would knock Texas out of the SEC champ.

After the top four teams the Big 14? are absolute garbage. Winning against the bottom of that league isn’t that impressive. I think the combined record of their opponents this year is significantly below .500. I think they only played a couple teams with a winning record and none of them sniffed the top 25. They are going to get spanked by OSU, which isn’t all that this year but are like nothing the Hoosiers have seen this year.

A lot of people talked shit last year during the first half of Michigan’s season because they had a light schedule. A good team like IU blows out inferior opponents. Their schedule, not their team, is below average/mediocre. Ohio State will be a completely different kind of test, and we’ll see if they’re ready for the spotlight.
