I’m being genuinely serious. I’d rather have a depth chart that has Buchner/Angeli than Buch/Pyne. Angeli has a higher ceiling and needs to be pushed to get there. Ideally we get a legit QB transfer but I’m happy Pyne is gone. He just caps the potential of the room.

If they don't get a quality grad transfer it won't be because of NIL. It'll be because the staff botched it.

I’d certainly take him. But I don’t view it as the biggest big coup. Would rather have Pratt and maybe even Card. It’s like when the beat was fascinated with Brennan Armstrong.

Ok, I am a long-time ND fan, been lurking here for 8 or 9 years and only recently started posting. I am no QB expert, have no inside connections, and don't subscribe to any of the recruiting sites. But... It seems with ND's current situation (for now) of it being more challenging to transfer into ND unless you're a Grad Transfer and our unwillingness to play the P2P game, we are likely going to get a decent Transfer QB but also likely none of the top guys on our target list due to all these things plus the fact that transfer market is fast-moving and guys, if they're going through the trouble to transfer, are looking for specific things (to be guaranteed to start, to get an NIL bag, to go somewhere better as quickly as possible before the music stops). We've already seen our top target prospects evaporate in just a matter of days due to the frenetic pace of CFB right now and ND will be slower to change (maybe that's a good thing). So, being more realistic about the current situation, unless things work out for some reason that overcomes all of this stuff, we're likely to get someone like Garrett Shrader, Jack Plummer, or David Brin this year; or, if ND can't find someone good and experienced enough, coaches will just pass on taking any transfer QB, go with the current QB room, and call it a day. And a more middling but capable, experienced QB who is a natural leader on the field might just do wonders at ND with a top OL and a pretty decent supporting cast of RBs & WRs (think something like what happened with Joe Burrow transferring to LSU, although probably not to that level of greatness - e.g., Davis Brin had a pretty good two-year run with Tulsa and that was with a bottom 5 OL - He was constantly sacked and running for his life; maybe he flourishes coming to ND with better coaches and supporting cast?). I could be dead wrong, but that's my two cents.

I think there’s a difference between paying an acquisition fee to a high school kid and paying one to a QB who has won games in FBS level CFB. Especially if he already has a degree.
Hopefully ND sees it this way because we’ll have to pay to get a proven player. They should look at it as a “one off” event

Completely agree here.
I get the concern about getting into bidding wars for high school kids. (even if I think it's inevitable and we might as well figure out how to do it the right way.) But when it comes to grad transfer QBs, many of those concerns kind of fade. These guys are mature, experienced, and effectively no different than the players on our current roster. We will need to pay to get anyone worth having. We might as well wrap our heads around that.

Also FWIW if Hartman doesn't work out, I'd be fine with Schrader from Syracuse, or maybe Brin (who I know less about). We need an experienced QB who can provide a safety net for Buchner. We don't need a superstar.

We need a upgrade from however you classify Pyne's performance this year.

Pratt announced on the “Fear the Wave Collective” podcast along with their first team all conference center that he will be the quarterback at Tulane next year.
