QB recruiting is fucked. Utterly and totally fucked.
Has anyone checked the prison system?

Could be another Burt Retnolds/Adam Sandler in there.

Edit: Nevermind. The top two prospects said no

Quick meaningless poll:

If holding onto Keeley and P.Bowen (somehow cosmically) meant not landing a '23 QB, would you take it?

With CJ Carr committed, Keeley is a far more important recruit than Dante Moore was.

No, that’s not what I meant. It was a terrible update for guys we’re still recruiting. All of them are likely headed elsewhere.

It’s pretty mind blowing that Rees is 0 for 7 with QBs in the 2023 class. You’re the OC/QB coach at Notre Dame. Why is it so difficult?
Grow the beard back. He looks like a nerdy schoolboy without it.

Bonus poll: what if that '23 QB is Dante Moore?

I would take Moore over Keeley and Bowen

Good thing we’ll end up with zero

I'm assuming you mean that ND should snag Arnold and Pettaway with all the bullshit going on in Norman right now?
At a minimum someone in the ND social media group should put together a 'come home' edit with Bowen, Arnold, and Pettaway all geared up in ND gear and then have Bowen tweet it out. See if OU coaches/fans think it's as cute when the tables are turned.

The problem we run into at QB now is that everyone assumes Carr is the next great ND quarterback. 2023 QBs assume he’ll be starting as a freshman or RS freshman. Who wants to come in a year ahead of him and have to transfer.

The difficulty comes from bringing in a stud 24 QB before a 23 QB.

The frustrating thing is that Clemson was able to land back-to-back 5* QB’s in 2022 and 2023, OSU landed 4 straight QB’s (including 2 in 2021) from 2020-2022 who were ranked in the top 43 nationally, Bama had a 5* QB in 2022 and has commitments from 2 top 10 QB’s in the 2023 class. Ironically, both Holstein and Lonergan could get into ND since they have offers from Stanford, but for some reason Rees doesn’t like them.

There are plenty of kids out there who want to compete. We might have to wait until the 2025 or 2026 class to see if Rees can stack QB after QB or if landing Carr in 2024 was the outlier.

We had consecutive 5* QBs committed and then one’s dad decided to chase a bag for himself. It’s really not any more complicated than that, regardless of how you want to mold it to fit a narrative.

You can armchair QB this one all you want, but Tommy had done his job and now the entire staff is in scramble mode trying to make inroads with ‘23 prospects they didn’t spend a ton of time with earlier in the process because there wasn’t a need to.

Idk how many of you are involved in HR or hiring employees, but hypothetically let’s say you have an open position. You evaluate the talent in the applicant pool. You select the applicants that most meet the needs of your team to complete the interview process. Ideally there is one applicant that best fits and you offer that applicant the position. That applicant verbally accepts your offer.

At that point, do you continue to interview and form relationships with the applicants that you didn’t choose for the position? No. You continue with the hiring process and move on to other things. Whether you’re in HR/Administration or the HFC at ND, if you’ve got a “commitment” from your top applicant, you don’t take time to continue to interview other applicants. You don’t have time for that.

I’ve had it happen a few times where we’ve got an applicant who accepted a job, but continues to look at what’s out there and inevitably they found an organization offering a shiny sign on bonus, but when you weigh all the salary, benefits, etc, our organization was by far superior…sound familiar? Tommy and MF worked the process as you’re supposed to and now they’re stuck trying to form and reform relationships that they didn’t need to when they had a commitment from their guy.

Few names that Rees started following:

Micah Mays - 3 star Wake Forest WR commit
Kyler Kasper - 4 star Oregon WR commit
Cameron Cook - 4 star TCU RB commit

No new QBs as of yet (Minchey being the last).

Kasper is already enrolled at Oregon so that's an odd one. Probably nothing to that.

I mean, that’s basically why he went to LSU, isn’t it? To recruit better talent without having to work as hard for it?
That's why I used to go to Ball State on the weekends to party in college.

More talent without having to work as hard.

Haven’t seen it effect the 247 Composite yet

Jaiden Ausberry is down 116 to 196, while linebacker. Preston Zinter (previously 221) and offensive lineman. Sullivan Absher (previously 231) dropped out of the Rivals250.”

^ as far as notable drops

Glad they corrected that unsubstantiated drop of Braylon James. While I disagree on Absher, Rivals is the only one not just dropping Drayk Bowen and Vernon every time
