Having Holstein and Lonergan both as 5 star QBs makes it incredibly tough for me to take ESPN seriously. That and their player rankings interface being 15 years old.

I think they are actually overly high on some of them but we’ll take it lol. It’d have most of this class between like Top 75 and Top 200. I think a few are higher than it’d think and a few lower but the averages might end by signing day where you’d think ideally .

we had outstanding pass pro statistics in almost all years Harry was here. Where things usually didnt look great for him were things like short to go's stuff rates, etc.

We could open nice big holes for chunks on passing and combo downs but when it was hey we need to get a yard and everyone knows it. Woof.

Harry's other supposed issues were A) only developing 5/6 guys and not the entire roster and B) not liking to recruit.

Some will say he typically got his guy and maybe thats true but as someone pointed out above we did miss on a few of his "guys". He rebounded nicely this year thats for sure. But will that hustle maintain through his 2nd tenure.

Go look at the 2018 class. It wasnt pretty. Missed on his initial wave, settled for some questionable people, and missed some big evals. He was also on his way out so....

I think whoever said 2022 might be the height of this stint, could be on to something.
I can’t really argue with anything you said.

HH has earned the benefit of the doubt, but I’m very curious to see how his second run plays out. I think he does have something to prove.

Tell me we’re directly targeting Keon’s mama without telling me we’re targeting Keon’s mama.

Next we need one of these with the uncle(s) of every croot…
ND knows how to recruit. You can't say they aren't doing everything possible.

Never seen anything like the parent recruiting of this class

This is awesome, I thought BK did a god job of ND feeling like family to the recruits, but Freeman is making the whole family be apart of the ND family.

I think one of Sampson’s articles about Freeman stated he makes 10 recruiting calls a day and they’re not necessarily just to recruits. He talks to their parents, grandparents, high school coach, etc so the whole family gets to know him. Honestly a great idea to make sure the core around the kid are all in on ND as well. Harder to decommit from a school when mom, dad, grandma and little brother all love ND and MFMF.

Apparently Keon’s uncle never picked up the phone or just came out of the woodwork.

Terrible, actually.

Sounds like this class will fill up with guys we don’t even know about yet.

I still don’t get the feel on Love, I’ve said from the beginning as much. I don’t get why the beat was so confident before and now seemingly so suprised now A&M made a push, like no **** what was supposed to happen over a massive recruiting visit right his before decision.

The Pettaway stuff won’t even pretend to get hopes up there. I could see the Tease circle back being worth it. Maybe Arkansas underperforms finally after so overperforming years, Briles leaves and/or Chansi/ND is more resounding with their pitch to him on offense. At least keep that door open.

4-5 spots open maybe. Only glaring spot right now is QB.

You have a coaching staff that was put together six months ago that possesses the top rated class headed into the season four months until the first signing day and six months until the final signing day. They have a strong head start on the class after that one on top of it all.

They have yet to coach a game together and they have brought recruiting up a notch with the program under a completely new and unprecedented environment with NIL.

Lol. Our 23 man class, that currently sits #1 will be back-filled with guys not currently on the board. That's what you mean by terrible?
No, that’s not what I meant. It was a terrible update for guys we’re still recruiting. All of them are likely headed elsewhere.

It’s pretty mind blowing that Rees is 0 for 7 with QBs in the 2023 class. You’re the OC/QB coach at Notre Dame. Why is it so difficult?

I don't actually think it's that surprising. He did a great job getting Carr, but this isn't the first time he's messed up QB recruiting.

We may be down but we're not out.

So Love and Hanafin are trending elsewhere. We don't have a qb.
But there are other guys out there.

The update really only pertained to 2 guys. Terrible, not great was applicable to updates on just that.

I don't have 247. Was there any word on Minchey? He'd be fine at QB.

He didn’t mess up. Moore straight screwed him & ND over.
He got a committed from his top choice, a 5 Star.
And don’t say they should have kept recruiting others at the time…why? Should they still recruit over Carr too?
Moore was a commit. Even Freeman was telling people at events ND had their guy.
If Freeman was uncomfortable he should have stepped in & told Rees to move on, yet he was saying publicly ND had their guy.
Rees didn’t screw that up. But he did rebound with a ‘24 5 Star.
And we don’t even know how ‘23 ends?
Can’t be easy starting late because of Moore, with Buchner having 3 years going into Carr…
