Having a true passing threat at QB makes a huge difference. For all the positive qualities Book had at ND, being able to consistently deliver from the pocket gives me great confidence in all games. There shouldn't be too many situations, where we are truly out of a game. A QB that can consistently make plays from the pocket and downfield gives you that shot.

Combine that with what I think is a deep defense and I'm in.

Really think this team should be as good as '18 and '20 playoff squads. Front 7 likely not as strong but should be way more explosive on offense. Schedule just is significantly harder than those years.

The other thing is it is the first time in many years the QB will not be influenced by Kelly or Rees, They had a bad reputation with regards to QB progress.

Fully agree that it's harder. I do like the layout of the schedule though. Navy opener and a September of tune up games until OSU is just what the doctor ordered. Not a fan of Duke after OSU though.

Mixing it up and keeping teams off balance is critical for parker and this offense to be elite and no excuse not to be able to.

it's a unique year for ND where we could say lets ride the running backs and oline, or lets ride hartman and our receiving game. There's so much at the disposal to call, even frichan short yardage qb reads, hartman is really good at those and they don't get talked about. He has 17 rushing tds in his career, 11 in one season. Same number as book. Book is more athletic, but I like hartmans decision making and ability to hide the ball better.

Count me as very skeptical that Kyle McCord or Devin Brown are even remotely close to what OSU has had at QB lately.
Yep, according to Day there is no clear leader which means they don’t have a number 1. There is no way neither of them are a serious drop of from the last 2 they have had.

Wasn't Kyle McCord Harrison's QB in high school too? Gotta think even though he might not be Stroud or Fields, having that relationship helps. The fact that Devin Brown wears #33...should make McCord the starter alone. It reminds me of when Gardner wore 98 at M-------. Guys named Devin and their weird jersey numbers.

It was the DL's turn in front of the media today. Al Washington's transcript below. (Premium)

Since it's premium I can't post everything that stood out to me but maybe most was this.

While Mills experiment playing outside came and went without much success. Ford is a better athlete and I'm glad he's dropping weight and they're seeing what he can do working outside.
Do you think Ford is in the top 8 of the rotation? I'd imagine he was 8-9 aft the end of spring.

Vernon is #17 correct? He looked like an absolute monster in one of those clips.

I read or heard somewhere that he just casually showed up in tremendous shape after sort of letting himself go. Everyone was like, ok, damn.

He had personal issues his senior year. It really ruined him physically, mentally & emotionally.
He gained 30 lbs of fat & was really slow & out of shape.
He has handled that problem (hopefully for good), & dropped the weight & got into great shape when he showed up to ND.
He is back to himself again.

Remember this 5 star player before he committed and then dropped bc he decided he didn’t give a shit about camps? Apparently this kid has made a reputation as a violent player already.

It wasn’t because he didn’t care about camps for a few years, he didn’t care about football. He’s lost like 30-40lbs in the last year or so

I agree, but you never know. Regardless, going into the OSU game we will have the better QB.
