Sounds like Harbaugh is the crowned jewel of this coaching carousel, and then the rest of the dominoes will fall from there. Belichick will obviously be high in demand if/when he leaves NE.

Ben Johnson from Detroit will be another name to watch. The work he's done with Goff and his aggressive PA attack should put him near the top of lists.

The real positive in this cycle is it seems some of the shine is off of Lou Anarumo and his name is not being brought up as much as it was a year ago. The Cinci DC job staying filled is a big key for the ND defense next year.

black monday was very uneventful and so far not much cooking today

Jags let go over damn near their entire D staff and Pederson's seat has to be scorching hot.
Giants DC "resigned"

Apparently Mike Tomlin might walk away after this season
He turns 52 in March. His post Big Ben situation hasn't been great at 19-15 in the two seasons without him, and it fell off in the last one in 2021 to begin with. I find the timing of these "reports" rather interesting too. It's all he's going to have to answer now the week of a playoff game.

Belichick turns 72 in April. Here is his life post Tom Brady:

I'm sure that if these guys end up leaving their current posts they'll be in high demand, especially Tomlin because he's only 52 and players who haven't even played for him love the guy, but I'd be extremely cautious throwing money and control at these two guys unless their HOF QB1 are coming with them somehow. Find a fountain of youth and good luck with that.

I’m ready for a offensive mastermind in Pittsburgh

How many other coaches having winning records with poor qb situations?

NFL being tough to win without an All-Star level QB is nothing new.

How many are the fifth highest paid head coach in the NFL?

I like Tomlin, but he's going to cost money to hire and Sean Payton is the bar maybe? Look, he's earned it by reputation and the fact that he hasn't had a losing season ever, but it begs the question do front offices want to pay for Tomlins and Paytons or do they want to try to find the next ones?

I don't know what more Belichick has to prove at 72. He probably has no idea what to do with himself if he retires. He's one of the best head coaches ever and one of the best defensive minds the game has ever seen, Tom Brady or not.

I just hope everyone stays away from Jim Schwartz. What he’s done to our defense is incredible.

He’s a top 5 paid HC because he’s one of the best in the league.

I have my gripes about him, but the way he wills his team to win late in the season is incredible

I think he was, and he's being paid accordingly. Going forward, I don't know that I'd want to be the one to keep doing that. Honestly, I think the change of scenery may benefit the franchise more.

There has been a drop since after the 2017 season, and so much of that has coincided with Ben's health and actual presence. I also think some of it was self inflicted with regards to the OC who were in place, especially post Big Ben the last two seasons. Not everyone is Green Bay where you just shuffle in a new HOF QB1 every couple of decades, I get that, but look at the Steelers infrastructure. For as good as Tomlin is and for all his strengths, he's also had the benefit of one of the better environments to thrive.

I would love for him to have a fresh start in Chicago, but that's not at all realistic, and I doubt that he'd have equal or more success going from one of the best run franchises in sport to one of the goofiest. I also think this is speculation and there isn't much substance to it.

I could think of worse coaches to give a second chance to.

I think we are in agreement, for the most part. 17 years as an NFL HC is an eternity. I wouldn't blame him at all if he wanted to take a break. I also wouldn't be upset with a reset at HC in Pittsburgh. I'd love to see an offensive minded HC to go with their great GM.

Should Tomlin stay, there has to be some kind of big move on the offensive side of the ball. Something bold and progressive. Hiring Leftwich or Bienemy probably isn't enough. They need a young, innovative kind of hire in the way of Mike McDaniel as an OC. Especially in that division. Give the franchise a jolt.

I'd love to have him in Chicago. I think the fan base would love him, but the owners would not love the price tag.

I tend to agree; kinda seems like he was set up for failure once they traded away AJ Brown and did a poor job of replacing him. no offense to DHop, certainly up there in the upper echelon of all-time WRs, but he's burnt toast at this point. DHenry also seemed to take a step back this year.

Wouldn't be surprised if Vrabel gets another shot elsewhere this offseason.

Yeah I really think most of the Titans' issues the past couple years are directly tied to their draft failures. Their O line fell hard due to injuries/draft busts, but that defense (Vrabel's side of the ball) has been pretty competitive.

Vrabel had the one year as Texans DC and went right to head coach in Tennessee. It's going to be interesting. He absolutely should get a shot again soon, New England HC or otherwise. Hell, at worst he's a DC somewhere.

Dude was making $9.5M a year. Wow.

It seemed like insanity when Ben Johnson said he wanted $11M to consider a HC gig....but he just might get it.

If I was Vrabel I’d want out of Tenn. Their new GM was making some clown moves with personnel

If I extrapolate that it equates to 4.72 at 234 lbs

I wasn't paying close attention this morning, but it sounds like there must have been a big disagreement between him and ????? yesterday for him to get fired as the day before he was supposed to be on solid ground.

Yeah I read that the owner didn’t get along with Vrabel too much by the end.
