With KVA coming in, I get the sense that Bowen's gonna have to be the programs Bo Bauer.

...or transfer to Iowa. Where he would put up Nintendo's.
Pretty sure he wasn’t healthy but last year in the IHSAA finals he did not stand out in a 2A game

Are you about to rep the Mighty Westside Catholics of Mater Dei?

How did he look a year earlier when he was healthy and they won?

All of a sudden Bowen is slow and transferring and KVA is mediocre. Ut oh…
lol.... the off season is a great time to talk about the 2024 starting lineup vs in season.

Right now the 2 players in line to get PT in 24 i'm not big on are Bowen and junior (more so junior). I feel like both are just too slow and lack any agility for a championship caliber team. I'm not writing off bowen, but I have wrote off Junior in my mind. He just can't play at this level.

Bowen just looks really sluggish on kick coverage and his minimal snaps.

KVA is the real deal.

Bowen's gonna get passed up at MIKE.

My prediction.

And... There's nothing wrong with having a Bo Bauer or 2 on your team. No one I know what's Bowen to transfer.

KVA is going to need at least a year to get to know the defense and Bowen is going to be ready by next season. I think Bowen will be the starting MIKE and Kiser, Sneed , Ausberry will share the snaps at the other positions.

Ha agree.

I have high hopes for him but really want to see his movement in this game. The game last year was when you could see Bowen's lack of speed/agility (most hoped it was due to injury).

Probably unpopular opinion, but i'm not big on Bowen due to lack of movement. He's lost agility and speed as he's added weight. I think KVA can compete with Bowen to be the Mike if he moves better than him.

You can make up for lack of speed like JD does with instincts but Bowen even looked slower than JD. He had a few rough reps in pass coverage vs Oregon State.
Bowen ran 4.58 at 215lbs and 4.61 at 219lbs in the past so he should be fine going forward. He's playing at around 234lbs right now.

Bowen will be fine, he had multiple ankle problems/issues and other ailments. He should be ready to ball out once 100%

The coaches love Bowen and the other LBs talk about how he's constantly putting extra time in to learn the entire defensive system so he can help get guys aligned. Studies with Kiser a lot. We need Bowen.

KVA could play early because he'd be playing next to Kiser, who can get everyone lined up correctly. I trust the coaches to get it right because they just fielded a top 10 defense in multiple categories without a single first or second rounder in the upcoming draft.

our D was darn good, and I trust the coaches, but playing Marist the most and playing Junior at all doesn't give me 100% trust they'll develop and get the best players out there. It's a small thing because Marist was ok, and junior didn't play a ton. Just made me scratch my head a little.

Them playing a true sophomore (Junior) has you questioning the development abilities? Huh?

If that .03 is due to the weight change, then he'll be around 5.06 at 234lbs.

not develop alone, develop and play. Meaning, i just don't get what they saw in practice and then more importantly in games to keep giving Junior reps. I'm not sure he made a single play all season, and he made a bunch of mistakes/misses due to being too slow for vyper. He played over 150 snaps on Dline, and had 10 tackles, with a chunk of those on special teams. No TFL, no sacks. Vyper needs to be very disruptive.

He better hit the squat rack and get that ratio down and his speed back.

let the best man win, but it's an important position.

Honestly, for next year i'd prefer kiser at Mike, and Sneed Ausberry at Will and Rover with rotational abilities. Obviously Rover is not in much vs certain teams. Again, that's if Sneed and Ausberry are good enough.

You would have KVA and Bowen backing up Kiser and Sneed/Ausbery backing up each other at each spot, if one injured then you rotate kiser over and have kva or bowen in at mike.

Follow? lol

We can only pray that our new strength and conditioning coach will enforce the proper depth in those squats based on the latest electromyography. No bro science.

I didn't sleep for a week after that video showed Ausberry not hitting parallel. I fear our last S&C coach was guilty of skipping leg day--at least in spirit--which cursed the 2023 season. Probably why he resigned.

You and me both buddy. Can’t have that quarter depth bs at ND.
