First and foremost, I apologize to all for ever having defended Peacock in any capacity. That stream was a heaping pile of dogshit; I got booted twice, was constantly behind friends who were texting live from the game as well as Pete Sampson's twitter updates, and it was all very aggravating. Please move on from this failed experiment, ND and NBC.

Second, although ND played a better, albeit still a weird, clunky game last weekend at home, I hope many of you heeded mine and other's advice and left an ND cover alone. While it looked like for a while there like ND was going to run UNLV off the field, sure enough they let the Rebels hang around a bit and failed to cover. Who would've thought.

ND is getting some Vegas respect here and the bettors appear to agree, as the spread is within the supposed "-3.0 pt home field advantage" margin for error. I'm not sure what to make of either of these teams as they've both played quite sporadically throughout the fall.

'Cuse needed a miracle at the end of the game against Purdue, or a Purdue defensive meltdown, however your prefer to look at it, and followed up that performance with a lackluster 2 pt victory against UVA, both games at home. On the other hand, SU beat a very solid NC State team at home, albeit without Devin Leary, and almost beat Clemson in Death Valley, but fell short in the end. Do they have a Clemson hangover, or are they fired up as most teams are to play the ND brand? Dino Babers sure went out of his way to talk up the Irish quite a bit during his press conference earlier in the week.

ND has it's share of problems as well, but appear to be better road warriors this year compared to their sleepy home games, which is strange, but may work in our favor here. Not a huge fan of the noon kick, as ND doesn't get a lot of those, but hopefully that tames the crowd a bit compared to a raucous night crowd under the dome.

@Johannes was the only leader from the previous week to get last week's prediction correct and is now in a solo lead with four points. There is a five way tie for second at three, and 19 posters are still within striking distance at two. Good luck this week!

31-21. ND plays better away from home for whatever reason. Syracuse is coming down off a major let down against Clemson and is in the middle of a very tough stretch for them so they won't be particularly up this week. ND's been unlucky this year, Syracuse has been lucky this year. At some point luck balances out.

Vegas is begging you to take Syracuse which means ND will win and probably by two scores. Many on the board get in their cycle of false hope before the Clemson reality check.

Advanced stats, or at least S&P+'s advanced stats don't like this Syracuse team so here is a perfect opportunity for some momentum to beat another top 20 team that isn't really that good.

ND wins 27-24.

34-24 Cuse

A 12:00 start, a QB that has no mojo, and an overall offense that isn’t clicking. The defense hasn’t had a really bad game yet.

Cuse needs a statement win. They are at home there are probably gonna be hyped up.

Syracuse shot their shot last week. Irish win 24-17. Gnashing continues unabated.

The biggest problem in this game is going to be the QB run. Schrader is super efficient throwing on the run which will keep the defense back. At 6'4, 225+, when he pulls it and runs, he seems to always get at least 5 yards. I feel like we are in for some infuriating third downs.

Syracuse 27-21.

Much like the Stanford game, the defense will actually play decent football, but the offense will do them no favors.

The offense gets some momentum at some point, but mental errors from various parties and/or poor throws from Pyne will spell doom.

And just like Stanford, ND will get the ball back with juuuuuust enough time to try and mount a desperation drive... but it will fizzle out.

The difference is that Syracuse has a better QB, and will do a better job of scheming him into easy yards when necessary.

I am broken.

(I hope Tommy learned his lesson, and brings back the two-back sets and a heavy dose of play action. I hope my prediction is entirely wrong.)

... still waiting to see our defense play a truly winning football game, like we thought they might be able to do at least half the time. Though they are stopping scores, they are not getting off the field and that means less possessions in any good field areas (and less possessions in general) for our mediocre-minus offense. Does our "top-20" defense finally show up? If they do, we might actually win this one.

This is what worries me the most, I'm not worried about 'Cuse scoring 30, but can ND keep up and get to 24-30?

I think they'll score a defensive or ST TD to help pad the score, and the offense will be good for 17-20 points.

But man, between my Irish and my Packers, offense is just not my friend this szn.

Looks like I'm due to hit this weekend given I do it every other week. No worries about keeping up with the Syracuse O. The D will do their job, like they did with UNC, BYO and the Bucknuts. I'm with Lucky, 27-24.

The Irish, Tommy and even Drew blow out Cuse. We are due for another rebound. I think MF has taken off the kid gloves as he is tired of looking like a dumb ass out there. He brings the fire and we assert our will on them. The big uglies win the war of the trenches the way our preseason script said we would. Someone not name Meyer scores some touchdowns and Foskey and the turnover make another appearance.

41-24 ND.

You’re welcome!

Cuse FEI defense is 39th overall, but only one stat on the top 30....turnover rate. ND defense has 3 metrics in top 30 and is 17th overall. Offensively, cuse is also 39 with one in top 30 , while nd is 54 with one metric in top 30. Overall cuse is 24 with ND 27.

F+ like Cuse as well.

Line yards though, suggest a slight ND advantage. Cuse DL advanced stats are bad, with exception of some sack rates.

If ND ties or wins the TO battle, I like the Irish. If ND jumps out early and runs the ball, I like the Irish. Do neither, Cuse will win going away. I think in the end, ND eeks out a one score win as I don't see Pyne turning it over much. A punt is good this week. ND 27, Cuse 21.

FEI projects a Syracuse victory, but only by the slimmest of margins (0.8 points). That's as close to a true toss up game for the Irish as I've seen from Fremeau's model.

Anyone take notice of my prediction on Thursday? Too bad I didn’t bet the house. I was wrong about Tommy and Drew though.
