That has truly been the thing with this team all year long...IMO, Ryan, At, and Nate have been the most consistent...But someone different seems to step up when needed. I'd love to see Goodwin light it up, as he was so automatic at the beginning of the year.

I think Goodwin will need to have a big game tomorrow; I think TTU will give Cormac a lot of their attention defensively after he lit it up the past two games; need Goodwin to be ready. If Wesley can find his stroke, that would be nice too, but if not I hope he keeps attacking the paint. He was much better yesterday, still not great, but much better.

This quote from Brey after the game yesterday, God bless that man :ROFLMAO:

Q. When Cormac committed to Stanford, you were one of his finalists. When you lose out on a kid like that then he goes in the portal, what's your kind of take on going back to a kid who passed on you the first time?

A. No, I have a short memory. If the dude can help us win, man, my feelings aren't hurt. I'll date you again. And I'll pay for everything, baby. I know he's a good player.

When our offense is jiving I feel that anyone can step up and the rest thrive off the energy of that one player.

I think the key is the defense, when we made our last run in the dance Solomon was in charge of the defense.

If they beat Tech (I have them losing & hope I am wrong) it will be interesting to see how deep of a run they can make.

Any chance we go after this guy?

WAC Player of the Year Fardaws Aimaq enters the transfer portal

Would he be a fit for Brey?

I guess Brey's a good coach when he hires assistants who know how to coach basketball. I'm done with Brey. He can move on at anytime and I would certainly not be disappointed.

I think Brey is a fantastic coach. He is massively underrated. He wins more games with less talent than anyone I can think of. Amazing he gets the grief he does on here.

Brey is a good coach when he wants to be. At the Crossroads Classic he looked like he preferred to be somewhere else. Recruiting is a part of coaching and overall he’s done a poor job.

I appreciate what he’s done, but it’s time for a change IMO.

The points about Brey are entirely fair, the program has underachieved in the tournament in his tenure. The big problems are (1) only 2 top-4 seeds in his time here; and (2) only 2 wins over higher seeds in the tournament (2003 and Friday). The recruiting has picked up a bit so I don't myself mind keeping Brey here, but certainly we should be thinking about replacements for the longer-term.

I personally think trying to get a proven coach here rather than promoting an assistant would make the most sense. Wes Miller, maybe? Or perhaps Porter Moser could be lured away from OU since he is from Chicago.

I’m not sure if any proven coach on your list would be interested, but I’m definitely more in favor of Ingelsby than I am Solomon. I thought Delaware looked decent against Villanova in the first round a couple of days ago all things considered.

Think about how hard it is for Notre Dame football to get their pick of proven coaches, and then realize it's at least three times as hard for Notre Dame basketball.

I think Brey's biggest issue has been complacency, and his big strength has been team offense. Could ND do better? Absolutely. Will they do better with the next hire? I'm doubtful.

Are we seriously ragging on Brey right now when he has us in position to get to the sweet sixteen? We have exceeded expectations and we are blaming Brey? Come on

Sometimes I don’t understand this board. In December everyone wanted his head on a stick and run him out of SB and we have won 2 games in the tourney and it’s not good enough smh

You think someone like Miller wouldn't leave Cincinnati for here? ND is a better job in a better conference, notwithstanding their move to the Big 12. Nor is OU a better job. (Perhaps it is equal.) It's one thing if they are holding out for 'blue blood' openings, but Duke and UNC seem unlikely to be open for awhile now; Kentucky and Kansas might be but that's also doubtful. And they could always leave ND for one of those jobs anyway.

Also, this region produces top BB talent consistently. There is no reason ND couldn't sign top 20 classes each year, which is all it takes. I think it's a pretty desirable job among the non-"basketball school" programs.

To take a break from the Brey debate, I have just about no confidence we will win today, but for the first time in forever I feel good that this team will give their all and won’t look soft. We have a pretty clear ceiling (that isn’t all that high), but this team really does seem to give their all which is more than I can say for some past Brey teams. Rutgers and Bama are good teams and I felt like we were the “tougher” team both games. Tech is a brutal matchup for us. Need to limit the turnovers, keep them off the offensive boards, and shoot the 3 like crazy.

Everyone’s an expert, man. That’s the nature of a message board. I wouldn’t sweat it. Most people on here have zero sway anyway.

I remember when Brey was first hired. The guy could do no wrong, and was beloved by the entire campus. It’d be interesting to know what the students think about him today. As far as I’m concerned, they matter more than a bunch of middle-aged opinions on how terrible Brey is. And I’m not even a Brey fan like that.

Last year some students at the NCSU game were yelling that Brey should be fired. This year everyone seems to like him, especially when he ran through the student section after wins. People still like him personally. I think seniors last year were frustrated that the team didn't make the tournament during their time at ND.

To be fair, the previous theee years of basketball were the worst we’ve all seen as an ND fan in the Brey era. It was pretty inexplicable to see ND teams playing the way they were. And they certainly looked like dog shit all the way up to the Kentucky game this year. And his recruiting was just as bad.

But the team has certainly turned it around and are playing ball the way we’re accustomed to see them playing under Brey. And couple that with last years class and this years class coming in, it seems to have gotten back on the right track. As long as we have the Brey we’ve seen in 2022 then I’m all for him coming back and finishing his contract out.

I think ND has their next head coach- Solomon. We know he can recruit-- the seniors that are there now and the in coming class for next year. The time he has been at ND we play defense. Let him bring in people he knows and see how ND does.

Brey is a nice guy.

Starting to get some good looks after Tech really extended the ball out. Just need to take advantage of them and take care of the ball better.

We look today like IU looked in their second game. Misses and miscues get exacerbated when you’re fatigued. Hope they can play through some of this and continue to clean up defensive rebounds. That’s been a bright spot so far.
