Good thing Seth Davis isn’t on the committee then.

We are gonna make it. It just most likely will be in a play in game
I wish I had your optimism.
Bracket Matrix has us in 80 of 140 brackets as of now (http://bracketmatrix.com/).
Not bad odds, but still think we’ll be left out because of the lack of quality wins. We shall see

I don't care how much they push the narrative about the ACC, you win 22 games and go 15-5 in your conference, you should be in. Period.

The second people start arguing for Michigan over ND is where I stop listening. There's no argument.

Blaming Brey on Jack is a stretch. He didn't hire him. If Brey leaves for a better deal at Maryland I guarentee you there will be an outcry blaming Jack for "losing" Brey. Half the ND fan base loves the guy.
Perhaps you are correct perhaps you are not.

While Swarbrick inherited Brey, he ENABLED him and his mediocrity.

And I cannot encompass a Notre Dame coach being divorced and allowed to stay on the staff.
That is unacceptable. And you know the stuff about the "other affair," right?

And I concede this point of yours "Half the ND fan base loves the guy." You can't fix either stupid or the embrace of mediocrity.

On Brey? the most eloquent testimony is that of Jaden Ivey. Yeah. that.

I believe that Swarbrick is both devious and incompetent. I will go to my grave believing that the only reasonS Marcus Freeman is head football coach is :
Player DEMAND (non negotiable)
UPRISING of the alumni

My surmise (and that is all it is) is that Swarbrick would have f-------------- f------------f___________around with it and would have blown it up.

This Davidson loss could be a complete disaster for ND. 27 wins, and KenPom 35th ranked team. Have to assume they are safely in

How does KenPom have them at 35. They've played absolutely nobody. They literally played ZERO ranked teams all year.

I'm rather ambivalent on whether NDMBB makes the field. They are a bad team who played poorly for large stretches of this year.

I should note that they were 35th before this loss. I have to imagine this will drop them into the 40’s Regardless, not a good result for the Irish at all.

The best thing for the program, and the ability to continue the great recruiting, is to make the tournament. That is why I’m passionate about today. Obviously, I realize the chances of this team even making a sweet 16 run is slim to none.

You play in a mid-major conference with nobody else good in it, and you don't have signature wins OOC, you're out.

I don't care how down the ACC is, it's still a good bit better than the Atlantic 10.

Yeah, I agree with you.
Unfortunately, Bracket Matrix has Davidson at 100 brackets, and ND at 54 as of now, so not sure if the people that decide these things will see it that way.

I just don’t see a scenario where a team that finishes second in the regular season rankings of the acc not make the tournament.

Maybe Mike Brey is no longer good enough; I don't know. What I do know is that earlier in his ND coaching career MANY non-ND basketball followers considered him as the best coach out there for getting a lot out of his available talent. So, I won't universally crap on him ever.

I am rooting hard for this team to make the tourney. They had a good stretch for a while and have actually been pretty entertaining this year.

I’m 30, and Mike Brey is all I’ve ever known when it comes to ND basketball. He deserves the upmost respect for what he has done for this program. The Kentucky Elite 8 game was an all time classic, and I truly believe that team was good enough to win a National Championship which is an incredible feat by him.

However since those two Elite 8 runs, the program has gone backwards, there is no argument to that. If we were to miss the tournament again this season, I’d be totally fine with him either leaving for Maryland or Jack telling him it’s time to go. The top recruiting class is great leverage for him to get at least one more season, so I doubt anything happens regardless of what tonight brings.

Brey has gone the Mark Dantonio route. Had a great run and ran all that momentum into the ground.

I’m expecting the play-in game vs Michigan or Rutgers. Poor Wake Forest. That’s a team that was victim to a soft ACC.

The Richmond win is def making me more weary. I think we will get in and to think the committee could leave out the second best team in the ACC and award the 3rd and 4th teams to make it over us has me sitting on edge about to flip

ND gets in...give them the #12 seed. Seems like every year a #12 seed can ruin a bracket.

Looks like Irish get Rutgers in the play-in game and the winner gets Bama in San Diego. Anyone have info on Rutgers?

ND will get boat raced by McNeese State or Coppin State. Oops, I meant Rutgers.

Rutgers recently beat O$U, MSU and Wisconsin.

I’m not liking our chances.

Rutgers is dominant at home and mediocre at best on the road. ND matches up well with them. This is a game they can and should win. So I doubt they will.

Tough draw for the Irish……Rutgers is tough and if ND gets past them, AL with a 19-13 record can beat just about anyone if they play up to capability. Playing in Dayton for the play in game may give ND more crowd support. AL has been very inconsistent, especially down the stretch.

I’m mostly indifferent to them even making it. Glad for the Seniors I guess. Brey took one of the best recruiting classes and basically wasted it away.
I hear your frustration but he also wasn’t the one playing. The players have to take some responsibility for not getting better or playing to their potential.

I’ll take a game against Rutgers and a game against bama if it comes to that

Rutgers big wins are at home and they aren’t great on the road or neutral

Meh, in March Madness, everybody is capable of beating anyone.
