This.

I think we've been overrated in that department the last few years. But I also think part of the OL problems were due to O scheme, so Reesus may be actually helping provide in that area too.

I’m on this one too. The OLine slows the game down so much for a QB and I think our QB play can be top 10, nationally.

I also think our DLine could be exceptional.

As usual, our ability to get over the hump will come down to our secondary. And I’m just not confident on that one.

I actually like our DBs this year more than the last several years. More play making potential IMO. I know there's some unproven folks, but Hamilton is man among boys. I think the key thing is Crawford staying healthy.

I think you’re right and it’s more just PTSD for me. Our secondary always gives me heartburn.

I get the PTSD element....

I'm still waiting on the injury or Covid hammer to fall somewhere before Saturday.

I'm just so stoked to have FB though. With all the naysayers on the board predicting the season would be cancelled, I'm just recently allowing myself to get hype.

Agreed! I’ve been too long in the politics threads. Football is exactly what we all need.

I'm been staying off that side for a while now. I've been tempted at times if I'm honest lol.
I've been trying hard to get interested in BB, but just not working.
FB is chicken soup for the soul. Give me some a spoon and some crackers please.

Wild how Louisville is a top team in the ACC a year after being considered one of the worst. Sattersfield really got them into shape

He will coach ND after BK if the timing matches. BK may stay too long, which isn't necessarily bad. I just think SS will have Louisville humming fast and that is impressive.

Yeah, just Clemson. Just think we'll be similar to the last 3 seasons. Very well coached team who will win a bunch of games but will be a step down talent wise from the elite programs. As far as game breakers. I personally don't see any 1st round (or 2nd or 3rd) talent in our WR corp and the running backs have done nothing. Hopefully the OL and TE positions will come up big and Book will take a step forward.

I know you said WR but just had me thinking...

Who? I don't know but I think we see this number of players who are 2 deep this year go in the top 3 rounds within the next 3 years:

- 1 LB
- 2 DL
- 3 OL
- 1 Safety
- 1 RB
- 1 WR

Combined with Book who should be a top 10 overall QB this year IMO. That is fire !!!

Here is another fun bet to consider....how many ACC teams will play their complete schedule as it exists today? Over/Under is at 10. I will go with Under.

33-6 should tell you how our lads will perform this year. Book is going to take it up a notch behind a solid O-line. Defense will be solid. We beat Clemson at home. also, if COVID things trend properly, I can see ND opening up the stadium for this game. You heard it hear first.

Oh yeah, we've got talent on the roster. 33-6 the last 3 years has been impressive (and fun) and I think we'll continue that trend. Just don't think we're anywhere closer to being elite than we have the previous 3 years and the area where that is most evident (IMO) is at the skill positions. I'm not sure who we have that could have started for any of last year's playoff teams. That being said, I could see us winning all of our games this year. Maybe with all the crazy shit that's gone on this year, Notre Dame will add to that by winning it all.

The VT situation prompts me to mention something that I was going to let ride so it wouldn't become a jinx: I'm betting that there are a LOT of football programs which do not have the structure and personnel (not to mention Values) to seriously police their "bubbles." SO, I'm betting that we see either a bunch of cancellations, or we see some teams play without certain players even key ones.

Since I believe that ND has the best situation for surviving this, and because I believe that money will prevail over opponents' decisions, I believe that ND will line up against depleted teams several times this year, OR those teams will play their compromised players anyway. THEN I hope that ND will not sit down players just because we played against them.

I think this is the year. Need some WRs to breakout and Book, Hamilton,.Owosu to stay healthy. Might need someone like Tyree, or Lenzy to break a long one against Clemson. Time to add a title 12 Or 24 by Bama's math. Go Irish!

I think after watching this game so far we are going to lose at least 2 games and MAYBE a "WTF" kind of loss.

Nothing I have seen so far tells me that this team is great!

My prediction is that ND will be left out of the playoff in favor of 8-0 Ohio State based on the "eye test", despite ND being 1-1 vs Clemson and having more "data points". Basically, ND will get screwed over because of the ACC Championship game in an incredible stroke of irony.

Still going with this.

This is a very good Notre Dame football team that is coached by a guy who by himself is worth a few coach wins-BUT I believe the conference is going to give blood to show the Irish your not just waltzing in here and playing in the conference championship game-it hurts to say and how I want to be wrong but I'm saying 3 losses. It will be a super bowl game each and every week for the opposition. They will do whatever it takes to keep the Irish out of the championship game-it will be interesting and how I want to be wrong.

I should never quote myself but I dont think we can handle Clemson and L'ville /Carolina look very good-maybe just 2 losses splitting L'ville/Carolina but I'm not sure. Oline and receivers are the key the defense is really good and Book can get the job done but everything cant be a 50/50 ball. This league will cut their ^%$# off to keep Notre Dame out of their championship game meaning the teams playing not the people who run the league-I expect the refs to be very good and very neutral-yes they do want us to join their conference and it will be fair. Its the effort of the opposition that concerns me -you better bring it every week or you're going to get your $## handed to you.
