I know EJ also mentioned this guy as someone ND should look into.

ISD with a positive update on Robinson last week. It'll just come down to whether he wants to play S or not. But, if that wasn't part of the decision, seems like we'd have an extremely good shot.

Malcolm Greene not visiting this summer was a bummer but he's good friends with Chris Tyree and I've been told we're a bigger player in that recruitment than some realize.

Does that include Avery Davis?

Nope. I don’t know if they’ll return him to defense. To be honest I’m doubtful of that. His speed is best utilized as a Slot/All-Purpose Back. Idk if he’s got the stuff needed to play cornerback. For now anyway he’s a RB.

12 scholarship DB’s if they get 2 more DB’s for next season (assuming Crawford & Gilman leave). Fantastic

What do you hope to achieve by continually pointing this out? There is no way to go back and fix the recruiting mistakes in the past. We have some guys who need to grow up fast.

We appear to have a freshman All-American at safety, so that's a nice safety blanket if nothing else.

He will play for minimum 3 years. He will basically be playing every snap at some point this season which should continue as long as he's here. That's a lot of mileage.

God forbid Kyle Hamilton goes down next season. Ur trusting DJ Brown and Litchfield Ajavon??? That’s the weak point of recruiting right now for the program. Their offensive line recruiting is fantastic and Jeff Quinn deserves praise. The QB cupboard is well stocked. RB recruiting with Kyren and Chris in the last two classes is good. The numbers and talent at almost every position on the squad is really strong going into 2020. I’m not worried about 2017 recruiting or whatever is going on. I’m just rooting for the staff to find a bunch more defensive back dudes in the 2020 class and possibly the transfer portal between now and September 2020. The 12 DB’s for next season and the lack of big time talent (4-5*’s) coming into 2020 is discussed almost daily at ND by the staff so excuse me for bringing up what is one of the most important things for the rest of the cycle. They’ve got 18 scholarship DLineman right now signed up for the 2020 class and I’m really excited about what they have in the future. The DB position group I’m really excited about Litchfield Ajavon in maybe 2 seasons, Isaiah Rutherford after he puts on weight and figures out DB, KJ Wallace has flashed talent in camp, and Houston Griffith is Uber talented but yet to find a permanent home. I like a lot of the DB’s on the roster but they need more. Plain and simple. I hope they land Malcolm Greene and Justin Robinson. Hopefully they bring in a SS grad transfer to pitch in alongside Kyle Hamilton or maybe a CB transfer to step up if Tariq Bracy and KJ Wallace aren’t ready.

I agree with all of those things. I just don't understand what can be achieved by continually pointing out that we are thin in the secondary. No one doubts that, I think almost everyone on this board agree with the quoted text above.

We're in a wait and see mode for a lot of guys. And we have young talent, no 5* CBs but who knows how they'll play once given a shot. We have to keep hoping our best players stay healthy and our young guys see the openings ahead of them.

My hopeful safeties next year are Griffith and Hamilton. Then find the best 2 CBs out of the pack. There is no way to hit the fast forward button and we can't take 8+ secondary players in one class. Especially with how few top level guys are interested. It'd be an overcorrection.

I read the same thing on rivals

Awesome post bro, good perspective to look through and I agree with what you are saying and where the concerns are coming from. It's not a major problem but it's a glaring recruiting error/execution on Terry Joseph and Elston/Kelly/Lea that we even got in this situation in the first place. Honestly if we didn't have Kyle Hamilton I really don't wanna think about what that back end would look like next year.

Mike Frank with an interesting post at ISD. Apparently there are approx 20 DB prospects that are currently being evaluated and some are committed elsewhere.

Crus what do you say about Jason Harris out of Gilbert? Singer is thinking ND may make a run depending on depth shakes out.

Parents played sports at Arizona. His brother plays football there now. I would assume he’s staying home.

Certainly possible, he’s one the guys they’ve been tracking for awhile now.

Some new names to know that ND may offer at DB:

Max Lofy - WISCY COMMIT - Kid is fast and is a nickel corner IMO. Posted a 10.85 in the 100 meter in April, but generally averages around 11 to 11.1

Adonis McCarty - BAYLOR COMMIT - pure athlete but mostly plays WR.

Reggie Neely - TULANE COMMIT - ran a 4.53 40 at the opening and has a 37 inch vert. Film isn't too bad and generally plays the opposing teams best WR. Plays both field/boundary. Has a Duke offer but not a lot of others.

Bud Clark - UVA COMMIT - should have been on him months ago.

Jalen Harrell - FSU commit - ???

Jalen Harrell - FL - FAR - Never Visited
247 Composite: .9144
247: 90
Rivals: 5.9
ESPN: 80
Offers (22): Louisville, Cincinnati, UCF, USF, Clemson, FSU, GT, Maryland, FIU, Nebraska, Miami, Oregon, Tennessee, Syracuse, Penn State, Pitt, Kentucky, West Virginia, Arkansas, UNC, Auburn, Kansas

Very tall and very long CB prospect. Would be an excellent addition to the DB room!

Looking into Aydan White now. Film shows a decent field corner. Also placed 1 in the 110 meters hurdles in NC.

Bk said in his presser today that they've focused more on recruiting speed at DB, RB, and WR more so than recruiting players that play those specific positions. Seems kind of obvious but provides some color on what they're looking for.

Did anybody ever work out the numbers to see if a spot opened up with Michael Young's transfer?
