His PR's have come in 2019 and they are 10.59 100 and 21.67 200. Pretty legit times.

The DB recruitment situation is most unclear to me. Most other position groups seem a lot clearer.

Now recruiting 2022 QB’s which is pretty special. ND is way ahead of the game with their QB recruiting and that’s always a good thing.

There could be an additional body with Cullen Coleman if he comes over to offense which Lance Taylor and Chip Long seem to want, but I don’t think ND’s recruiting the likes of a traditional RB anymore like Tirek Murphy and Michael Drennen II who were very interested in ND. 2021 will prove whether passing on a 2nd traditional RB was a good move or not. I think Lance Taylor has made some headway with a few top dudes in 2021 though like Will Shipley (huge Christian McCaffrey fan).

.8741 4* Rome Odunze – NV – FAR – Never Visited
.8728 3* Xavier Watts – NE – 8h – 9/29/18 & 4/11/19 & 6/22/19

In terms of scholarships, ND has a ton of bodies at WR returning in 2020. For Del Alexander and Chip Long I think it is about grabbing big time talent. Johnson was step 1 and by far the biggest step in securing the #1 receiver on the board and a huge difference-making WR. Now ND is probably trying to add 2-3 more guys based on a lot of different factors. One of them will be if they get some big time talent then they might go to 4 WR’s (Jalen McMillan qualifies), another might be attrition at the position and the fact that they are in good shape with a couple guys from this class might make them take 3 or 4. McMillan is the big fish and I think ND would take him regardless of what the numbers look like coming into the fall as he’s a BPA. AJ Henning and Xavier Watts are summer visitors and we’ll get an idea of where they stand by July or earlier. Odunze I left on the list because he hasn’t mentioned ND being out and has said he was interested. I consider him extremely unlikely as he’ll have a very competitive recruitment, but you can never say never if he decides to OV in the fall. As for Henning and Watts, I’d love to land both and I think the staff would obviously like to as well. Watts is a Nebraska-ND-Michigan battle and he’s scheduled to go to ND in late June with an early fall visit to Michigan. I’m curious if he’ll make that trip or if he’ll decide to pop for ND/Nebraska soon. As far as talent with Watts I just don’t know much about him. My initial judgements are he has a very unimpressive offer list, competed in Rivals events without much notoriety or accolades from those, and is ranked quite low. The staff seems to love him and desperately wants him in the class so we’ll have to see. AJ Henning might be the most talked about recruit over the last few weeks with mostly bad things said about him on the board in terms of his recruitment. I haven’t changed in the fact that I still really, really want ND to land him over Michigan and Georgia. It is going to be a tight race, but we’ll get a better idea in about 5 days when his ND official finishes what kind of chance they have. I’m surprised at how few targets ND has left on their board with even a remote chance at landing with still probably 2 slots to fill in the position group. Hopefully ND lands their guys.

.8863 3* Reece Atteberry – CO – FAR – 2/23/19 & 6/22/19

It is pretty simple. Michael Carmody visited Texas A&M a few days ago officially, is visiting ND tomorrow, and plans on an OV to OSU on June 21st. My hope is they put the full court press on him tomorrow and get him to join his brother at ND before getting to Columbus for his visit in late June. After that, we’ll see if the staff continues to recruit Reece Atteberry or if they decide that 2 OL recruits is enough. I think Baker and Carmody would be perfect and then move on to 2021 where they have a chance at a special class.

.8413 3* Alexander Ehrensberger – GER – FAR – 11/27/18 – ND COMMIT

Ben Yurosek is now focusing on UCLA, Stanford, and Washington. Cam Large still mentioned he wanted to get out to ND before making a decision (he’s being recruited at TE by every other school). I think there are 2 names on the board left and that’s Mitchell Melton who’s coming to ND in 3-4 days and Jared Ivey who they’d like to get on campus in the fall eventually. I do think there’s a possibility that they shut down defensive line recruiting for this cycle unless someone blows them away. According to the guys at BGI, they said Melton is that kind of player and they’ll know shortly what he plans on doing (6/8 ND, 6/15 OSU, 6/22 Mich then decide). I hope they take their shot at Melton and then just wait to see if there are any special DLine candidates rethinking their decisions in the fall when ND is having a good season. 19 scholarships for 2020 is a bit crazy but there should be some serious attrition along the DLine.

This has been discussed at length on the board and I won’t get into it too much, but it sounds like the staff could pass on LBer altogether (meaning no Cody Simon) or take Cullen Coleman as the athlete that covers up RB/DL/LB and find a fit for him in the future. I’m still hoping for Cody Simon but he’s got 6/8 Nebraska, 6/15 PSU, and 6/22 OSU and probably going to decide before senior year so I’m pessimistic towards ND’s chances which sucks.

.8501 3* Ramon Henderson – CA – FAR – Never Visited
.8366 3* Jordan Addison – MD – FAR – Never Visited

This is the problem position group. Obviously there is no one committed which isn’t ideal, but the bigger issue is the amount of bodies that need replacing. It is a strong likelihood that Alohi Gilman and Shaun Crawford aren’t back after this season which could mean ND might have to turn over half of their DB position group in the offseason which is crazy. If attrition stays low in the following offseason and things get lucky, ND might still need 6 DB’s which is a ton to bring in for one cycle. The other issue is not really having an idea of what the board looks like in terms of who the staff wants. Obviously they’ve got top scouts (Bill Rees), top recruiters (Terry Joseph and Todd Lyght) and a very organized coordinator (Clark Lea) who knows what they’re looking for in a DB. The pessimist would say ND’s got a good shot to land Lovie Jenkins, Landen Bartleson, Clarence Lewis, and maybe Will Nixon this summer after official visits and that doesn’t exactly scream championship level DB recruiting. However, ND is still in it with a ton, and I mean a ton of good prospects from all around the country. Clark Phillips III really needs to get his OV scheduled because until he does so, he’s headed to Ohio State and that would suck. Lathan Ransom is the biggest fish on the board that ND does have a legit shot at (except for EJ Holland thinks ND runs in 3rd right now) and he arrives at ND in 3 days. Jordan Morant seems like a fall OV right now because he planned on announcing his commitment in January so it makes sense to get him to OV for a game day weekend, but he’s taking an OV to Michigan in late June so idk. For Enzo Jennings, I’ve been scouring the twitterverse everyday since he announced his first couple of OV’s to hear about his ND OV in June, but unfortunately, ND’s staff has the hardest time getting DB’s to actually step on campus for their OV’s (Kristian Story cancelled, Chris Thompson cancelled, etc) and I really hope Enzo makes it to campus (he’s got 6/5 Kentucky, 6/15 Pitt, 6/22 PSU). Eric Reed is someone who I thought was off the board, but surprisingly EJ Holland mentioned him in his forecast of who ends up in ND’s DB class which surprised the heck out of me. Maybe he’ll OV in the fall for a gameday??? Jahari Rogers is another OV guy where the staff is trying to get him on campus this summer, but unfortunately he hasn’t made the commitment to a visit. Jerrin Thompson seems like an interesting prospect because he seemed all set for either LSU or Arkansas on July 4th, but pushed back his decision to the fall and seems likely to OV to ND in the fall, hmmmm. Makari Paige seemed like a big time longshot but yesterday announced ND in his top 5 or 7 which is cool. He’s such a long athlete he’d be nice to have in the class if he doesn’t just go to Michigan. Malcolm Greene is the Chris Tyree target who ND offered recently and Tyree mentioned he’s going to recruit him the hardest of all of the prospects. He’d be a great addition in the safety room although apparently he can play a little corner as well. RJ Moten is someone that both 247 and BGI said to keep an eye on because Michigan is in it big time for Makari Paige, RJ Moten, Jordan Morant, and Cameron Martinez and they won’t win them all so ND could swoop in and grab RJ who’s from an ND friendly state in NJ that they’ve recruited well in recent years. Overall, I really hope ND can start with Lathan Ransom and I hope they show some restraint in accepting commitments from the lower ranked guys so that they can get some of the top guys to make decisions.

Sounds like a great way to not meet the need in regards to numbers. Either we can afford to hold off or we need to get some good developmental prospects and maintain a couple spots for additional, higher-rated players.

I'm for the latter.

Yea I worded that poorly. Basically, ND can’t take the first 5-6 guys that want in the class and then cut a couple if they get a higher up dude on their board. That’s not how they recruit. So, what I mean by that is I think they’ve set up Landen Bartleson for an end of the summer OV so that if Lathan Ransom decides to join and maybe another guy or two reserve a spot then they don’t need to push for Bartleson right now and be forced to take him. I’m just using Bartleson as an example and there are plenty of more guys. I just hope for the best possible talent but they don’t all make decisions at the same time. Seems like Lathan Ransom, Enzo Jennings, and a few other big targets might be summer decisions.

Just as an FYI regarding LSU recruits. LSU has 15 scholarship DB’s projected to have eligibility remaining in 2020 on their roster right now. They’ve gotten 5* Elias Ricks on board along with 4* Lorando Johnson at DB so far. Tomorrow they’ll add Major Burns to the fold to bring their 2020 roster to 18 DB’s! On top of that, LSU is in solid shape with 9-10 real good DB’s including Xavion Alford & Jordan Toles who they’re in really good shape with. The point of the sudden interest in LSU is that two names are being recruited heavily by Notre Dame who have strong interest and ties to LSU, Jerrin Thompson & Eric Reed. Be on the lookout for those two guys because Reed is likely leaving the state and Thompson could be an Arkansas/ND battle if Texas doesn’t ramp up recruiting him. LSU is killing it in the recruiting game ($$$) but they can’t take everyone and I think ND could swoop in and steal a guy in their region. Eric Reed is a kid who’s got offers from Notre Dame, Duke and Virginia and has retweeted a bunch of pro-UVA, Duke and ND stuff. If LSU pushes he’s probably there’s to lose as he’s said his mom and dad are both huge huge LSU fans but right now it seems like they’re going to get some higher guys on their board. He’s got an offer list of 15 schools and ND should be able to beat any one of those schools head to head in a recruiting battle if LSU doesn’t push.

I don't know remember who's been saying it but I've read numerous places that ND is a serious contender for Reed even though the Irish paid sites aren't putting out big puff pieces on him.

One negative in his recruitment is the fact that he had a 2/23/19 visit scheduled but never made it. What that means is it is likely that Eric Reed will only get to see ND on one official visit before making a decision. Now ND has grabbed plenty of recruits on only one visit (Marist Liufau, KJ Wallace, Jordan Botelho, and I think Isaiah Rutherford) but it’s always a difficult proposition and especially going against in-State U if that’s what’s happening.

Obviously a lot of talk about Lil Gilman and his spirited play at Invasion. Heard people talking about his "interception". If this is it, that's no INT. It's pass interference and a unsportsman taked onto the end.

As a world class (but retired) sh!t-talker, I'll be the first to admit I want all of it I can get on this squad. I want dawgz that line up right in face of the baddest Miami squad you can throw out there and let them kick their azz in the tunnel. What I don't want is someone who jacks up a play... twice... and wants to woof.

We're in here trying to make sure Cody Simon gets a spot.

Committed to Auburn. Good for him. Funny how no one knew who he was even though he played at Penn but as soon as he moved back to GA, he's an instant 3*.

SIAP, thought I was part of a discussion about him on this site but couldn't find it.

Tate Johnson went to Penn through his soph year. Played with Paul Moala and RP3.
Moved to GA and now blocks for ND RB offer Tank Bigsby and played along side 4*+ OL Keondre Jones who is going to Auburn.

Since he left Penn Twp, he's received the following offers:

BC
Cincy
Florida
Louisville
Mizzou
Ole Miss
Pitt
Purdue
Vandy
WVU
and yesterday the all important...
Michigan State

Currently no one from ND follows him but he's camped at ND and they know who he is. He still follows a lot of things Michiana so IF ND were to get involved, a cascade of CB's wouldn't be surprising.

This is something that I've noticed and it goes beyond just the 2020 and 2021 classes. I don't know what changed: recruiting philosophy, recruiting pitch, the kids that fit at ND are just highly ranked now, or maybe the drinking water in South Bend.

The OL recruiting has stayed great, but the DL recruiting has seen a massive boom. It started in the 2018 class and it hasn't slowed down. Keep this up and Notre Dame will be a constant threat at taking a playoff spot. I've dreamt of the day where Notre Dame doesn't need 2 years to replace a good d-line, they just throw new cats out there. We might be entering that age.

4 Notre Dame commits are on the same 7on7 team at The Opening. That should be fun to watch.

he's the only one listed as an ATH, it might have just been oversight to keep him listed on defense.
