Big Bosco CB James Smith coming in for a visit this week.

There's a buzz going on with this kid. He's had to wait his turn to break out at SJB playing with a loaded DB group but starters Chris Steele (Fla), Trent McDuffie (Wash) & Titus Toler (Wisc) all graduated.

He's a track kid who ran hurdles and now concentrates on Long Jump and Triple Jump.

Has offers from UCLA, ASU, UK, Ore, PSU, Wazzu

I'd rather have Tosh and Christ but if you insist, we take all 3.

Now let's move on to RB.

Yea, Baker and Christ are the top 2, IMO. Definitely like to wait them out but if we are taking 4 and a 3rd OT is in, I'd be very happy with Noah Nelson. I'd probably offer and try to get him back for an OV this summer. After Baker and Christ have had a chance to decide.

Trey Benson offered. Duke offer, some solid, mid tier offers, Miss St leads per 247.

Good taste in gear.

A 2nd NT May end up being more important than a 4th OL or 3rd DE so I’m glad they are looking at some options.

Curious to hear what Barton thought of the European kids especially Ehrensberger.

Don't know why Trayanum doesn't have a profile. Just invited to the Opening Finals.

Tested at 112 and only MAC offers? Seems a little strange.

Well, there is fairly large discrepancy in his height. I've seen 6'1 to 6'4. Folks probably want to see these results first and most haven't had a chance to workout him out personally.

I follow the recruiting casually. For those of you who follow more closely, when and who might drop in the 2020 class for ND next?

We do have a thread where we talk about that exact thing. I'm not savy enough to post it in here but it's "Who's Next 2020"

With a big visit weekend coming up, anything could happen. Mills and McGregor are definite possibilities with Mills being more likely.

A running back could jump in to secure a spot. If that were to happen Tirek Murphy seems the most likely to do so.

Offensive lineman generally commit earlier than other positions. Baker, Christ, Zinter, or Skoronski are all options there.

.9178 4* DB Ayden Hector - WA - FAR - Never Visited
Offers (22): Stanford, Cal, Northwestern, USC, Vanderbilt, UCLA, Florida, Washington, Wisconsin, Penn State, Colorado, Florida State, Oregon, Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, Alabama, Nebraska, Washington State, Oregon State, New Mexico, Boise State
247: 91
Rivals: 5.8
ESPN: 80

Saw an article about him by Brandon Huffman and it made me wonder why ND never bothered to offer him. He's from the same school as DJ Rogers, Gee Scott Jr, and Sam Adams II. Certainly sounds like he's closer to narrowing it down than looking for more offers so I think the ND ship has sailed. With the need for 4 or maybe even 5 DB's in this class, I am curious why ND didn't at least get in the race for a talented, high academic kid.

I think they have a shot with Sam Adams. Very Josh Adams like prospect.

I think Rogers has some connection to LA. Don't remember off the top of my head.

I know Hector's family is from the Bay area but his dad played safety at SC & his Grandpa played for the Rams. Not surprisingly, he has one CB to SC, the other to Stanford.

I'm hoping Pyne gets Scott & Henning to commit early so they can build an early class like 2018 did.

John Humphrey's parents went to Stanford, Hudson Henry's brother went to Arkansas, Quinn Carroll's brother & father went to Minnesota with another brother going to VT, Tristan Sinclair's family went to Stanford I believe and the list goes on and on. Where someone's family went to school is important, but it isn't the end all and be all of a recruitment. I don't think where the kid's parents went to school should preclude them from recruiting the kid if he's talented enough which in this case I believe so.

Must be ND staff saw he had Washington offer, knew there was no way they'd win that battle.

For starters, a lot can and will change between now and August of 2020 with the roster and recruiting. Jamir Jones might be redshirting but that could change with one injury or transfer. The point is that there are 15 scholarship guys projected to come back to ND in 2020 right now. As far as the spots go, I believe that ND will absolutely take more than 3 DLineman but I am putting 3-4 spots because more than 19 scholarship guys for the DLine in 2020 seems crazy. My guess and from what I've heard on BGI and II podcasts is 4 guys would be the ideal number and maybe 5 if there's a stud that wants into the class late. Then for lists below I sorted the recruits who've been offered to Drop, SDE, and DT. For anyone that was a maybe a DT or an SDE I listed them as a strong side guy because DT recruiting seems to be done for now. I listed Braiden McGregor as a Drop because I believe if Ehrensberger and Mills were in the class then McGregor might start his career at Drop at ND.

Now as for the recruiting aspect, ND has a ton of irons in the fire for only a few spots left. The two big players left on the board right now are Braiden McGregor and Rylie Mills who are visiting in 2 days together with Aidan Keanaaina. After that it seems like a whole lot of Defensive End prospects are getting calls and being brought to campus for visits like Jordan Botelho, Ben Yurosek, Cam Large, Deontae Craig, Jaheim Thomas and Mitchell Melton. I think Elston and the staff are also working on some bigger fish in hopes of getting them on campus eventually like Phillip Webb, Prince Dorbah, and Alfred Collins. For now I am really hoping ND is able to make a strong move with Braiden McGregor this weekend and remind him that ND was first to take a chance with him. This should be a fun board to monitor over the next few months to see who else is being pushed for.
