It'll be lost among all the other discussion but Bo Bauer had a really nice day on special teams. He's a good tackler.

This is probably going to be viewed as a hot take, but my biggest fear regarding Book this season is that he's going to play just well enough to keep the job, but not well enough to get drafted, thus guaranteeing his return for next year and delaying PJ's turn at the wheel. and don't get me wrong, we will win games with Book at the helm, we just won't get over the elite hump.

Regarding Book's "regression" my thinking is not so much a regression as is it what it is. Book was fantastic in his first two games last year, Wake Forest and Stanford. Most of us saw Joe Montana #2 in those games But if you look closely at the rest of his games last year they look a lot like the four games this year-a game manager at QB, not a star.

Those first two games may have been a bit of a mirage due to some bad defenses and lack of film. Wake Forest, in particular, was a terrible defensive team last year.

I am very concerned about lack of pocket presence and quick bailouts, but a least it reduces the chance of injury. Plus Boykin made him look better than he is on the back shoulder fade, Boykin was phenominal at that and some games that was half our offense (with Dexter the other half). They haven't been adequately replaced.

Book fundamentally is a really good college QB. Mentally and somewhat physically he’s a little bit of a nightmare. Long has to be pulling his hair out with his lack of willingness to throw the damn ball.

Book is never going to be an NFL prospect. The physical traits are simply not there.

We don’t know if Lenzy is better. Lenzy is faster, but I doubt he’s a better route runner.

Finke is a 5th year senior known for his great route running...until this season where he’s run short of the first down marker on a crucial 3rd/4th down three times now. That is inexcusable for a player w/ that much experience...not to mention he’s a captain. BK must’ve felt the same way b/c he let him have it when he did it in yesterday’s game.

I think Book has the potential to be an NFL QB, get drafted and learn by a veteran QB.

Can Book win championship games? No. We had a better team last year and if we make it to the CFP this year it will be because of our defense. I liked last year's WR's and RB's better than this years.

Can Phil win championship games? ND won't while he's sitting. I think he is more of a complete QB than Book and I am ready for ND to bring the deep ball threat back.

I think Book should come back for a 5th, just not at ND. You don't sit someone as good as he's been advertised for 3 years with Phil. Plus if Book didn't have the year like he did last year I think we'd see Phil as our QB this year.

Finke needs to play less. Seems like a phenomenal kid but that’s two weeks in a row with huge mistakes.

This is Finke's fault? It's been happening so frequently, I thought it was a Chip Long play, lol.

I'm very happy for Bo. I was a bit worried that he'd be lost and never see the field due to a lack of athleticism. Luckily he's found his niche.

Kelly commented on being needing to be more decisive. AKA, throw the damn ball dude. Couldn’t be more true. The sole reason he was given the job over Wimbush was to get guys involved and now it’s like he’s become paralyzed by the thought of making mistakes.

It was a huge victory! I took my wife to her first Irish game! She got to see the touristy stuff and walk the campus. She loved it and is on board for more games. It was my first time on the Irish caravan from Indy to South Bend on 31 (traffic) but fun!

Next game (VA Tech) needs some tailgaitng, but can't wait!

Loved that defensive second half.

You weren’t that guy riding my ass all the way there were you? Lol

Just kidding.

Do you think Kelly is a good in-game coach when it comes to getting his QBs to relax and let it rip? He usually doesn't seem calm to me, especially when there is a big mistake, but what do I know.

Nobody leads us to the playoffs if the WRs don't get open on time. This includes Phil on his best days.

Expand vision to see what's really wrong with the offense.

There are plenty of open WR’s, this narrative didn’t hold up yesterday. Lots of plays to be made.

I think you’re right based on comments from beat writers at the game watching from the booth. I’ve heard multiple writers comment or tweet how so & so was running wide open had Book just slowed down to find him. Getting stuck w/ that damn sideline cam & flutie not bothering to focus on that in the replays doesn’t help.

And quite honestly some of it is just let the ball fly. Have to give your guys chances to make plays. There are benefits to taking deep shots even if it’s not completed but you have to throw the damn ball.

Yeah, there were guys running free on most plays. He does not see the middle of the field while in the pocket... really that simple.

Say for example against Georgia that last drive if Book did 3 jump balls to Kmet, Claypool and whoever in a row you are telling me we don’t catch it or at least get a penalty called?!

Most of the issue is book leaves the pocket way to soon and the other part is he isn’t that accurate beyond 25 yards

The only way Book, getting paid and Pro Football come together is if he is working at a hot dog stand.

Usually go along with most of your comments...can't do it here.

In the NFL?

Aaaaah someone with an open mind.

There will be a lot of QB's worse than Book getting paid in the coming years with all of the new leagues plus there's always that league north of the border.

Yeah, it's hard to understand why we don't take more shots downfield to Claypool. My dude is 6'4", 230.
