And to be fair to Daelin, he had 6.5 TFL's and 3.5 sacks last year. For comparison, Khalid Kareem had 11.5 TFL's and 5.5 sacks. Khalid also played 142 more snaps, almost 30% more snaps than Daelin.

I wasn't implying Hayes played poorly. Just hoping he takes it up another level which is fair to expect. Probably shouldn't have put him and Ewell in the same sentence. Guilty by association. lol

It’s amazing to hear how good our two deep is at all four positions on the d line. Apparently they’ve been dominating our o line, not sure if good or bad for the o line or not. Excited to see them in action.

Jaime at ISD has mentioned that the o-line had actually been having their way with the d-line for most of Spring, until open practice yesterday morning.

The d-line finally flipped the script and looked like everyone expected during 11-on-11.

Said it's probably a good sign for the o-line that they were controlling things for the first few sessions, and also a good thing that the d-line is now taking their turn as the dominant unit... seems like both units can hold up against talented opposition.

This is a little tin foil hat(ish) but I don’t think this is a coincidence. I just don’t see how the DL completely dominates a practice, out of the blue. When they’ve been “controlled” for most of Spring practice. And, that’s without Kareem even playing. I’m of the opinion they might be working 75% with a red jersey QB.

He also mentioned that it was the first session where the defensive line was really allowed to get into their playbook with stunts and unique pressures, so it's all obviously with a grain of salt.

But I do think it's encouraging that the offensive tackles have held up so far, even when Kareem, Okwara and Hayes are working with generic, pin-the-ears pressure straight into the pocket.

I'm hoping that the competition between the two units is brutal/fierce and that they make each other even better as the cream rises to the top. Stating the obvious of course. Would love to see D. Hayes earn some additional PT...he's a great athlete.

Prister said Tommy Kramer had his best practice today. Looked really good and light on his feet.

Claypool has been a revelation as the no.1 target.

Finke is Finke, uncoverable in 1-on-1.

Michael Young is consistently getting open and making plays.

Lawrence Keys is the next Finke, but maybe with more homerun speed.

Wilkins and Austin both look like legit options, especially Austin now that he seems to be climbing out of the doghouse.

Lenzy was doing good things with his speed before dealing with a hammy and then a concussion.

A QB that can keep plays alive, is super accurate, and is a master at distribution.

The RB’s can get tough yards, but they’re good in Pass Pro and at their best when catching out of the backfield...

Feels like the offense is going to have to carry us this year

As to defense:

1. We have great defensive backs
2. We have a terminally destructive DLine
3. We have an elite DC/ linebackers coach.

Add up the numbers and connect the dots.

No TE love?

Kmet suffered some kind of minor injury today. Left early and may not participate in the blue gold game. MTA also had a minor ankle/foot by practices end

Shameful on my part.

“A TE that can present mismatch opportunities the likes of which we haven’t seen since the days of Tyler Eifert, and a couple of young dudes that move very well.”

Pretend that was tucked in under the WR’s in my OP.

Has there been anything said whose going to be on punt returns this year? I think Keys would be a good option.

What was the news about Ewell?

not a lot of detail that I am aware of only that he made a couple of plays in practice which seems to mean he has improved.
Did Kelly say anything about it in his press conference the other day?

He arguably made a play in the blue gold game last year if memory serves. Didnt he get a sack of sorts.

Maybe Equanemious would have actually tried with Book.

Any word on how Book is looking on the long ball?

Considering they reporters have been raving about the wr’s all spring, it Seems to be getting better each practice. Kelly in the last presser mentioned that he was too flat on those throws last year and they’ve been working on more touch in the spring.

I’m really excited to see this WR corp in action. All the reports got me fired up to see how good they can be when the lights turn on.

They'll be cautious with the concussion, but I hope they are just as cautious with the hammy. If those things aren't handled properly up front, they tend to linger for a long time and sometimes get worse.
