I don't think this would have worked for the Colts either. Seattle probably also wanted a 1st and 2nd, but, for the Colts, that may have had to come from this year's draft, leaving only 34 and 89 in Days 1&2. The Chiefs had that second rounder next year from SF for Ford. I imagine the Colts at 26 can still get a quality Edge rusher, while KC at 29 would not and would have to use later picks to package a deal to move up and ahead of Indy? Here's a good analysis from the KC site.

Frank Clark brings everything Steve Spagnuolo seeks in a defensive end

doubt we go edge.
iDL is my guess

I think they go DreMont Jones from OSU. They apparently love his versatility.

Starting to see Mocks where Ferell is dropping to the Colts. I don't see it. Realistically I think it will be Tillery or Lawrence.

Frank Clark needs to have a much better year to justify that trade and money.

His 13 sacks last year was nice. But people are saying Seattle traded him because they didn't want to pay him and Wilson big money. KC is going to have to do the same thing when Mahomes wants an extension. I think he can ask for an extension after this year.

KC could have a lot of money tied up in two guys and all of a sudden their team could nose dive.

I agree that the price with the contract was too high for KC to pay. They are negotiating an extension for Chris Jones. Wonder what he will now ask? Switching to a 4-3 with Ford's rookie contract ending meant only one of Ford and Houston stayed. Does this mean that Tyreek who also is in his last contract year too is gone? I don't like losing the first rounder. They shed salary and long contracts with the release of Houston and Berry, but now tied a big chunk of it up with Clark? They avoided a long-term contract and got a second rounder with the trade of Ford, but paid that second rounder and a first rounder for Clark?

Most everything mentioned lately points in that direction.

I'm thinking iDL with 26, and then WR and S in the next two (not in order).
Ballard could do anything after 26 and it would not surprise me though.

Remember when KC was the next dynasty in waiting??? That was a fun two weeks....

I hear they still are. I like their offense.

Nice O, but I think teams will figure out their QB better in 19. He simply dances too much without need and it's only time before he gets hurt too. Their D took a step back regardless, so that in itself is nice.

it's a shame this will get buried in this draft thread. I don't think it'll age well and it'd be fun to revisit.

Like a fine wine VDP :)
IMO... With more and more short scrambling athletic QBs, the league will adjust.
Regardless, I think KC will be good, and a playoff team. I just don't think they're going to be as good this year.

As a Browns fan who went through it over and over, I feel for the fan base that gets Kyler Murray. I'd put his bust potential pretty damn high (~99.9%) and the team that drafts him will most likely regret it and have to use another high draft in a year or two to get another QB...

I agree that Murray will bust, I think Haskins will be the best QB in the draft. It seems everyone wants to pick Haskins apart because he only started one year, Murray only started one year too yet you don’t hear anyone bring that up (obviously they concentrate on his size and that he’s horrible at interviews). There are just too many red flags with Murray for me to draft him number one.

That's fair but I think their QB has such precision and improv-skills that he'll have longevity. He might experience a slump this year but he wasn't just throwing the ball up and saying a prayer.

He made incredible throws in tight windows and knew when to buy time. That usually leads to a long, productive career.

Murray is sliding in the IE Mock. Arizona and Oakland passed. Haskins to the Giants. Next QB needy team is Denver. I wouldn't take him there but Elway?? I don't think the Broncos take a QB in the first round. Miami at 13? If Pittsburgh doesn't pick Murray, he falls into the second round.

Some are thinking Pittsburgh might take Rock-Ya Sin at 20. Not sure how I feel about that.

I think he's going to get hit a little more this year. Sacked four times each in his last two games. He's an awesome improv guy. Just not sure he can elude injury all that long.

Do you guys think Alex Bars gets drafted?

I'd be upset if the Bears didn't throw a 7th at him if he falls that far. Tbh, I'd be okay with a higher pick than that, given that Harry has familiarity with Bars. Plus, it fills a need of Guard depth

I’d expect Cleveland to look long and hard if Bars is around late too,...

They are still in a really good spot cap wise... he's taken a 0-16 team and turned them into a borderline super bowl team in one year, wtf would I complain about at this stage????..... but it's me, so yeah, he needs to get better in the secondary and our LB'ing core will be what keeps us from the promise land... I expect big things are still going to go down via trade or whatever.

More than the norm???... not really that I can think of. The real concern is getting good without using up the space we will need to resign MG, Chubb, Baker the baddass Touchdown maker and others in a year ro two.

Since the Cowboys aren't picking in the 1st rd, I want chaos. All sorts of chaos.
