I'm so pumped for Thursday. One of my favorite sports event of the year. We're now going to hear about player's stock rising/falling at the last minute and rumors about teams trading up. Which team panics and reaches for a player? It's like a reality tv show that I can't get enough of.

As a Steelers fan, I’m worried that they are going to try to trade up to 10 so that they can grab Devin Bush. I understand that they need a ILB but I don’t think Bush is worth trading up for.

I disagree. Bush would quickly take away the biggest weakness in the Steelers defense. They tried to trade up last year but failed. I think they’ll be aggressive in trying to do so on Thursday and they have the ammunition to do so.

There is a huge gap between the two Bush’s and the third best MLB in this draft. I trust the FO to make the right decision.

Does this then mean that Tillery and Boykin are the only smart ones out of ND's group? Or are they just not posted.

OL didn't show Mustipher/Bars
LB didn't show Coney/Tranquill
TE didn't show Mack
RB didn't show Williams
Didn't show any DBs for Love.

I saw Tranquil's name.

As much as I hate Michigan, I think Bush has a bright future in the NFL. A good organization like the Steelers can get the most out of him. He'll be a tackle machine and someone I target in my IDP draft.

Interesting analytical with Bush is his low tackle output.

An off-the-ball, run and chase linebacker in a run heavy conference would produce greater tackle numbers that what Bush did this past season.

Now, perhaps Michigan used him a little different last year. Michigan also fielded a very good defence. So, you can say he wasn’t on the field as much. I can’t find any data to back up his snap count, yet.

Steelers would be a great fit for him. They’ve needed a LB since Ryan Shazier’s unfortunate injury. And, they have a good defensive line. Tuitt has developed into an all-around 5-technique, Hayward is still grading out extremely well, both in terms of pass rush and run defence. And Hargrave is probably the best Nose tackle who’s name doesn’t come into memory. He’s not popular, but he knows how to play his assignments, and keeps lineman off his linebackers behind him.

Now, considering the drop off talent at ILB in this draft, a team with a need at ILB may want to fill that it earlier than later. Bush’s value may be raised. He’s a player some team may trade up for, and I wouldn’t be surprised if that happened. Pittsburgh has the extra draft capital to make that move.

Rashan Gary is not smart. I realize he's a skunkbear and therefore that statement may be redundant.

To be fair to him he has dyslexia. Which would make a timed test that consist of a lot of reading, like the Wonderlic, very difficult for someone with dyslexia.

Why Rashan Gary is not a first-round talent (PFF)

https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/draft-why-rashan-gary-is-not-a-first-round-talent

48th on their Big Board

A lot of the Gary argument is the classic potential vs. production.

For being the freak athlete that he is, and that his combine performance can back up, you don’t see it manifest into sack numbers, or tackles for loss. But, his pressures are there, so you could say he just isn’t finishing his rushes (Julian Okwara said this of himself last year, too).

Usually potential vs. production always results in more potential than production at the NFL level. It all depends on how you respond to coaching. How you develop your technique. How to improve your reaction time. Being intelligent to counter-act a move made against you. I think Gary has further to go than other prospects. And I’m not saying that because he went to Michigan. His wonderlic score left a lot more to be desired, too.

Post combine, I’ve seen a lot of mocks with Gary as a Top 10, top 8, even as high as 4. I hope teams aren’t that gullible because of his athleticism. He’s a project that needs some work. He’s not an instant impact player. You don’t take those risks in the first half of the first round. The odds are not in your favour.

Not very cool to say he is not smart or dumb. Especially since he has a disability he suffers with in dyslexia.

Now to be fair to Me2 I'm sure a lot of people, including myself, did not know that he has dyslexia.

I was not aware that he has Dyslexia.

Then I'll just call him dumb for going to Meatchicken!

Chiefs, DE Frank Clark agree to 5-year contract extension

Defensive end Frank Clark today agreed to a five-year, $105.5 million deal with the Chiefs as part of a trade from the Seattle Seahawks, according to Adam Schefter. There will be $63.5 million in guaranteed money attached to the deal.

Ahead of the Clark extension, the Chiefs had $21.9 million in total cap space, according to the NFLPA’s public salary cap report. The first-year numbers for Clark likely will take up a good chunk of that space, if not all of it.

Remember, the Chiefs will gain $9.5 million on the cap on June 1, when Eric Berry’s contract finally comes off the books. They can use that money to sign their rookie class and commit a huge chunk of the salary cap total in 2019 to Clark.

The first three years of Clark’s deal will probably be jam-packed with that guaranteed money, and to offset that the Chiefs will likely look to backload future contracts for players like Chris Jones, Patrick Mahomes and possibly Tyreek Hill. They likely feel comfortable doing that with a player like Mahomes, who they intend to keep for the length of his NFL career.

The trade for Clark and the accompanying contract extension are a strong indication the Chiefs are committed to getting to a Super Bowl soon. They got a taste of playoff success last season, and they’re committed to building a new defense to help them get there.

Why not pay Dee Ford franchise money and less than Clark costs?

Ford's had one good year with 2017 injured with only six games played. In some games he was not a factor. In trading Ford to SF, the Chiefs picked up the second rounder in 2020, which they traded to Seattle. The Chiefs essentially traded Dee Ford and this year's first-round pick for Frank Clark. The first rounder this year may have been used on an Edge player that needs development. Clark starts from Day 1. Both are the same age, though Ford was drafted one year earlier. The Chiefs in swapping third round picks got #84 from Seattle and traded #92. The cap hit will be managed.

Sweet.

Updated Chiefs 2019 picks:

Total picks: 7.

» Round 2: Nos. 61, 63 (from Rams)
» Round 3: No. 84 (from Seahawks)
» Round 5: No. 167
» Round 6: Nos. 201, 214
» Round 7: No. 216 (from 49ers)

Seattle gets a second first rounder and gets $17 mill in cap space. They can sign players in the second wave of free agency and trade back and pick up more picks.

Seattle picks

Total picks: 5.

» Round 1: Nos. 21, 29 (from Chiefs) overall
» Round 3: No. 92 (from Chiefs)
» Round 4: No. 124
» Round 5: No. 159

Its nothing new. I'm pretty sure Morris Claiborne had a score of 4 or 5.

He likely has accommodations for his classes. My best friend's daughter is Dyslexic and her 504 plan from high school is still in place for her in college. Things like she can't be docked for spelling errors, she has to be given oral tests, like on a computer, etc.

My son had hearing loss when he was a toddler and it caused an auditory processing deficiency. He got his hearing back once he got tubes in his ears but the defiencies he suffered in his motor skills, cognitive reasoning, among other things, never fully recovered. So he has a special IEP in school and a ton of accommodations that will also be part of his college plan.

And the Cowboys traded up to get him.....only to switch to a zone scheme the following year. Brilliant people running that team.

I'm so happy the Colts didn't do it.

I don't think this would have worked for the Colts either. Seattle probably also wanted a 1st and 2nd, but, for the Colts, that may have had to come from this year's draft, leaving only 34 and 89 in Days 1&2. The Chiefs had that second rounder next year from SF for Ford. I imagine the Colts at 26 can still get a quality Edge rusher, while KC at 29 would not and would have to use later picks to package a deal to move up and ahead of Indy? Here's a good analysis from the KC site.

Frank Clark brings everything Steve Spagnuolo seeks in a defensive end
