Kristofic - Olmstead - X - X - Carroll

Fixed.

IF Hainsey moves to OC, I highly doubt the three '19 classer's will leap frog the entire '17 & '18 classes to play with Hainey at OC by the '20 season.

No chance they leapfrog...At. All.

I was just saying i think if only this class were a fantasy O-Line thats where I'd slot them currently.

Yep, forgot about Jones as an OC. That was mentioned, as was Patterson's potential ability to play all 5 spots.

There's no denying Hainsey's ability at OT, he had the most impressive high school career of any recent OT as the two year starting LT at IMG. But if the goal is still to get the best 5 on the field, Lugg, Banks, etc will need to play eventually and RH makes the most sense to move inside.

I get your point, but the talk of RH going inside is based on what? His size right? Sprinkle in some footwork. RH best attribute seems to be his footwork and pass blocking. Would we not want that outside and move a bigger better run blocker/mauler inside?

Who the hell is this?

Under the radar QB that used to be short that has recently had a big growth spurt making him more viable I guess.
https://www.sbnation.com/college-football-recruiting/2018/4/30/17300132/zach-calzada-qb-recruit-2019-lanier

So far, the 2019 class of QB recruits seems to be lacking compared to prior years, and especially when compared to the special crop that just graduated in the class of 2018.

The words “so far” are key, because prospects emerge at different times each cycle, for a variety of different reasons.

Take Baker Mayfield, for instance. The No. 1 overall pick was 5’2 as a freshman and only 5’10 as a varsity QB. He kept growing in college and is now listed at 6’1.

Sunday at the Under Armour All-America Game camp in Charlotte, I saw a QB with no star rating throw the heck out of the ball. Winds gusted north of 20MPH, and Zach Calzada, of Sugar Hill (Ga.) Lanier had no problem driving the football, as the throws of other QBs fluttered.

Calzada threw this ball 51 yards without being able to fully step into it.

Why does Calzada have zero recruiting stars?

“I was 5’10” a little over a year ago, the 6’2.5, 195-pound Calzada said. His dad confirmed, he’s had a huge growth spurt.

And suddenly it made sense. Compared to most top QB prospects, he became good relatively recently.

Quarterbacks no longer have to be 6’5, but 5’10 is short. It makes sense that many haven’t heard of Calzada. With his late growth spurt came arm strength, and Calzada rips the ball. He can also grip it with 10-inch hands.

Schools have very recently started to take notice.

In the last week, Calzada has picked up offers from N.C. State and Northwestern.

“(Offensive coordinator) Eliah Drinkwitz saw me throw and offered,” Calzada said. “I have a good relationship with him. N.C. State was a game changer, they were my first Power 5 offer.”

Calzada said that he likes the way he could fit into the Pack’s offense, and is impressed that NC State has a lot of QBs in the NFL. He visited Saturday and liked the vibe.

This coming week will be big for his recruitment, as Pitt, Northwestern, North Carolina, Notre Dame, and Georgia will be swinging by his practice to see him throw. It’s a good bet that he’ll come away with more offers.

Visits are on hold until after spring, and Calzada wants to make sure he is making the right decision. But he is also cognizant that schools want to get their QBs committed early.

“As soon as I find a place I love, I’ll take it,” he said. “QB spots go quickly.”

Another part of that article that was cutoff explains that UNC, UGA, NW, Pitt and ND will be watching him throw this week. Probably the start of the eval process and a good chance for Rees to get his eyes on him.

Barton Simmons take from Elite 11 - Nashville Regional where Calzada was MVP a week ago.

Alpha Dog
Quarterbacks had the toughest job of all on Sunday, throwing a water-logged heavy football and taking more reps than any other position, but every time I saw Buford (Ga.) Lanier quarterback Zach Calzada, he seemed to be in total command. Calzada cut through the rain, spinning the ball effectively and showing really consistent accuracy all day. He recently landed an offer from N.C. State, his first Power Five offer, but Calzada looks capable of landing many more.

I've watched this guy for a while. Best news here is Penn st can't land him, Ojabo and Wete especially after last year's DE haul. ND would have to look better to at leas one of them.

Not sure why, but we stopped recruiting him. This per Loy a few weeks back.

Has to be non-football related cause once again the dude is a 4* WDE which is the ultimate need for ND. I really, really hope ND can land Nana in the next few weeks. It would really take the pressure off of trying to land a top tier WDE.

Graham Mertz and Zach Calzada I believe. Hopefully they can get Mertz on campus. If they do, look out...

Can we have just one top flight RB take notice of the OL and nationally televised games? And can they also take note of the offensive scheme and realize big numbers are to be had?

We just need one to trigger a domino effect. Hopefully Dex kills it this year and draws some attention.

You get what you ask for:

2020 RB offers:

Bama = 10
FSU = 10
OSU = 11
Mich = 13
UGA = 16

ND = 3

Is it the nature of the position that top shelf talent is less likely to be considered a successful candidate at ND? ie - we can't fire off a lot of offers with serious questions on ability to qualify? That's an all inclusive question: academics, character, interest in playing school, etc.

How many total RB offers do we have out for 2019? Im not jumping off a bridge yet, but I do have some concerns.

2019 RB Offers
ND - 13
OSU - 13
Bama - 15
UGA - 11
PSU - 10
Michigan - 20

ND is right in line with most of the other big players

If you're speaking directly to the offers going out to RB's, then I think you can look back to Autry Denson's press conferences during signing day where he mentions how specific of a fit he's looking for at RB. Because at other positions (DLine) ND will offer everyone under the sun and recruit them hard until they realize they are not a viable option (Joseph Anderson, Jason Bargy). The disappointing thing is that Denson is picky with his offers, which I'm fine with, but how slow he is in finding the right fits for ND. 3 offers out to RB's in 2020 is unacceptable if you want to compete for the backs that fit your profile. Bottom line is ND is not getting it done on the trail with RB's which is inexcusable considering ND has 4 guys in the NFL at RB (Theo Riddick, GAIII, CJ Prosise, & Josh Adams), an ND alum coach who played in the NFL, 7 pro bowl RB's who went to ND (Jerome Bettis, Ricky Watters, Dorsey Levens, Johnny Lattner, Greg Bell, Elmer Angsman, and Paul Hornung), and had one of the best rushing attacks in the country last year.

Yeah, this picky approach is fine when you're Alabama - you're going to get your guy more often than not. But ND can only get burned by this. See Diaco recruiting and even HH recruiting to a degree.

I realize we’ve gotten more competitive recruiting in the Deep South the last few cycles, but when was the last time we landed a recruit from Mississippi? Jarious Jackson?

Demariyon Houston included ND in his Top 12. Hopefully gets to campus this summer! BK called him and tried to get him to campus this spring, but didn't work so hopefully they can reengage and get him up to campus before OV season in the fall. Also, interesting that he didn't include Oklahoma to his top schools, but makes sense since they have the best WR class in the country by far already.

If we pick up Zeke Correll and Nana, we'd be 2nd on 247 with a score of 215

We are trending in the right direction with better recruiting and hopefully better seasons.
