His older brother responded. This is why people hate Buckeye fans.

Interesting comparison. Didn't realize that Tennessee was the offer slut, giving it up to almost everyone.

I couldn’t find a thread so I’ll post in here:

I have heard from a close friend to the family that 4 star o lineman Tanner Bowles from Glasgow, KY is waiting for a ND offer to narrow down his recuitmenr. I know he has visited south bend a time or two. Both his dad and brother played for UofL baseball. Kid has blown up this week with offers from FSU, OSU, Bama, and USC.

TE Board (1-2 guys)
.9764 4* Hudson Henry - AR - FAR - 1/27/18

TE Interest (Regional/Visitor 4*'s)
.9127 4* Jahleel Billingsley - IL - 1h30m - Never Visited

This position should be fun to watch in the recruiting cycle. Chip Long has a projected 5 returning guys and a talented group out of that. In terms of takes it would be 1 right now, but maybe someone transfers or Alize Mack decides to forego his 5th year. Either way I'd think ND has some very good traction with some good targets. Hudson Henry is the #1 TE in the country and loved his visit which is great, but I think until you see him schedule another visit I wouldn't expect him to come because Arkansas is the choice here (his bro was a star there). Ethan Rae is the high academic kid of this position pool and also a stud TE; he said in an interview he'll be coming to ND during his spring break in April so that will be a big visit. And then you'll notice a big group of 3* prospects like Liebrock, Wolfe, Lowe, Deal, and Cupp that have been offered. I think they are from the George Takacs mold in that some of them will emerge later in the cycle as legit 4*'s by the ranking site they just haven't been evaluated a whole lot, yet. I think Jude Wolfe, Jackson Lowe, and Luke Deal have amazing offer lists and will see a jump in their rankings soon enough. I'd also like to know why Jahleel Billingsley has been left out of the offers by Chip Long. He's legit, has some good academic offers (Michigan, Illinois, Maryland, UF), and is in ND's backyard. Maybe he'll get some action soon, but Michigan is hosting him for a visit in a few weeks and that could be a big momentum grabber. In summary, I think ND is in for another strong haul and Chip Long has a nice board built for the 2019 class.

.9072 4* Tanner Bowles - KY - 5h30m - 10/21/17

OL recruiting is near the top of the list in importance this cycle for position groups. In terms of numbers probably 5 or 6 should be plenty with ND liking to be between 13-15 scholarship guys per year. On the board, Quinn Carroll & John Olmstead are definitely the top 2 targets for this staff and ND I think leads for both which is fantastic. After that you have Harry Miller from Georgia who is visiting ND for the first time and has had some great things to say about the program and we are in his Top 5. Zeke Correll & Bryan Hudson are both interior prospects for ND and both have had or have some CB's in ND's favor. Correll seems to be all Ohio State, but is visiting for JD2 which is big. And then there are two Hawaiians, Ennok Vimahi & Julius Buelow who seem to be perfect fits for the ND use of Official Visits in April and Summer. An amazing class would be Quinn Carroll, Harry Miller, John Olmstead, Zeke Correll, and Bryan Hudson and then call it a day. This is an extremely talented class of OLineman in the midwest this cycle as seen by the long list of regional players who have not earned an offer and the ones who have. I would love to see Devontae Dobbs & Trevor Keegan get offers, but the staff has issues with something in their recruitment whether that be talent or academics. It will be an important spring and summer for Jeff Quinn to get guys onto campus and hopefully have 3-4 commits going into the fall so he can focus on 1-2 more spots for the big fish.

Billingsley's problem is he's a tweener. He plays mostly unattached. 6-4/220 is Miles Boykin territory. In an other season he might be a strong possiblity but they just signed Tremble and have an option year on Mack plus have Boykin, Claypool and Jones in the big WR category already.

A name you need to not leave out = Duke Olges. He's twice as likely to be in ND's class next year than anyone currently with an offer.

Lastly, I wish they'd jump on low 3* Connor Foster from the Cincy area. 6-7/255, 4.1 GPA and good film/stats. Could be Kelly/Quinn TE/OT special

Really think this kid is going to be good. I’m glad we’re early. He literally embarrasses folks in 1 on 1 situations.

Did I miss the 4 star QB whom ND spoke to even before Cade decommitted? Seen this mentioned on Twitter

They've spoke to more than one but Paul Tyson from Alabama is the guy getting blamed for Cade's departure. Tyson's Bear Bryant's Great Grandson.

Rees was also in to see Graham Mertz from Kansas who's committed to Wisconsin.

Not exactly sure what twitter comments you are referring to but per NDInsider and confirmed by 247, Grant Gunnel had reached out to the staff prior to the decommitment.

This was in the SBT as well. If true, you have to like Notre Dame's chances if they reached out after Cade became a flake. To go from Cade to Gunnel would be a decent sized upgrade IMO

#53 player nationally, per 247, #2 pro style QB. Decommitted from A&M a couple of weeks ago (same day he got an Ohio State offer). Catholic school kid from Houston. But looks like most of his visits have been close to home - Texas schools, Okie State, Arkansas. Do we have a realistic shot at him?

He reached out to the staff, it wasn't the other way around. If a kid reaches out to the staff, there is a better than decent chance to get him. Kids don't reach out to staffs just because they're bored.

Gunnel would be great.

Graham Mertz coming to ND would be an interesting story. He originally started out at Bishop Miege but transferred to his public school when he chose not to hold a clipboard for 2x Gatorade POTY Carter Putz in '16 & '17... Putz will play baseball at ND next year (and who knows, maybe football in a MVG capacity?) Miege also produced Jafar Armstrong and Colin Grunhard in '17. That would be ironic if Mertz ended up an ND QB while the guy who denied him that ability at Miege is at ND too.

Mertz has/had interest in ND. He worked out for Rees in last year's offer competition won by McNamara and Morris and Rees has been at his school for a visit since bowl season.

I would have an order of want like this...

1) Grant Gunnell
2) Dylan Morris
3) Paul Tyson
4) Sam Howell
5) Cade McNamara
6) Max Duggan
7) Graham Mertz
8) Hank Bachmeier

I think ND can get one of those guys. I'd really be ecstatic with any of those 8, but especially Morris and Gunnell.

This is probably the biggest and the best position group to watch during the 2019 class. ND has 12 guys on the roster for the 2019 season as of today, but of course, a lot will change between now and then. Mike Elston mentioned during his press conference on National Signing Day they want to take 7 DLineman. It's probably going to be 3 DT's, 2 WDE's, and 2 SDE's. Already, Notre Dame has landed two DT's (unless the torn ACL made Spears fatter and he's really a SDE, but I doubt that). For that last presumed DT spot, ND is in great position with Jowon Briggs, Mazi Smith, and Rodas Johnson. For DE recruiting, ND leads for Nana Osafo-Mensah (WDE) and Joseph Anderson (SDE). If ND lands these recruits (3 DT's & Nana & Anderson), they'll be looking for one more SDE & WDE for the rest of the cycle. It's a fantastic position to be in and speaks volumes to the kind of work that Mike Elston has put in. Some SDE prospects to watch are Nathan Pickering (just named in his top 15, MS recruit), Bill Norton (blew up the last few months, from Memphis, hopefully visiting in April), Noah Potter (all OSU, but maybe not a take there), Ty Robinson (from AZ, wants to visit soon), and Marcus Hicks (has made the 12 hour drive 3 times with dad, kid likes ND a lot). WDE has Zach Harrison (NFL player just passing thru, OSU leads, but maybe his 4 visits say he's interested), Joseph Wete (DC kid who's parents are from Cameroon, speaks highly of ND, wants to visit), and Ani Izuchukwu (really good friends with Joseph Anderson, said he'll visit next time Anderson visits and Anderson is already in his ear about ND). There are many, many other names who ND has offered and is monitoring around the country as they have 27 DE offers out right now. I think ND will be in great shape to land 7 guys and hopefully they can get 4-5 on board by the end of spring and work on the last couple spots with all their energy. The dream would be Anderson (SDE) - Lacey (DT) - Spears (DT) - Smith (DT) - Osafo-Mensah (WDE) committed by May 1 and then 9 months to get a SDE & WDE.
