Browns have to get a QB with one of their first 2 picks...and they will.

I don't know that they HAVE to... but 'they will' is probably right... it's not so much going QB with either pick... it's going QB AND RB. Again, if they go that route cue up the pipes in ACamp's house:

If they are this stupid, again, I'd be furious. There have been times in my adult life where I've paid next to no attention to the NFL outside of certain playoff matches and the Super Bowl... them taking a RB and a project QB when they have two top 4 picks would definitely send me into another, "Fuck it I'm done watching for a while" phase... all the hope that blowing everything to the ground and gaining all these picks and all this cap space over the last few years has built would be blown up instantly.

Just being real.

I also believe this would be a terribly unwise decision. There are bonafide starters/potential probowlers at this level. It's a shame no one wants to trade up and take Cleveland's first pick. They could move back 3-5 spots and pick up another early 2nd rounder and maybe a pick in next year's draft.

I would love for NYG or the Colts or someone to swap picks with us, add more capital and still get Fitz and our QB... (I'd go Chubb but I know that won't happen so realistically, Fitz and a QB)

so your ok if its QB and "any position other than RB" with their first 2 picks?

I tend to agree with that, and that's what WILL happen when they pick a QB at #1 (which they SHOULD) because barkley will be gone at 4.

I think they need to add to the defense and that the areas of need are right there for them... that sums it up. They can get their RB later on.

Is this a joke?

The compensation for #1 starts at three firsts and a second. 2018 1st and 2nd, 2019 1st, and 2020 1st.

More I look at it I agree that Barkley is a Top 5 talent but not a position worth drafting that high if I am a GM - longevity is a primary reason why. If I am going to reach at a lower value position - locking down a pro bowl guard in Big Q is a much safer play. He will make ANY RB look better for a decade - and help keep your QB upright.

I have a hard time going all in on a QB derby - seems futile if you don't have the rest of the offense built to go with it. Indy and Luck is a great example. So much value placed on #1 that I would pretty much always want to trade it - but Cleveland has stockpiled so many picks they need to cash them in at some point.

It is not a joke. I guess it depends on how far back the Browns would have to move but even a couple additional firsts/seconds would continue to give the Browns what they need: young talent and roster turnover.

Hopefully there exists a team that is sold on one of these QBs and is willing to pay a king's ransom.

If I were the Browns, I'd move back 3 spots for what I suggested a 2nd rounder this year and a first next year. If I were moving back 5+ spots, I'd definitely want what you are talking about.

I just wish there was a consensus #1 that other teams would pay for. I'm not even a Browns fan but they are on the cusp of transforming their team and I'd love to see them do it.

If I were the Browns, I wouldn't be driving hard bargains to move back is all I'm saying. Instead of three firsts and a second, maybe 2 firsts and a couple 2nds and 3rds. All those opportunities for success will eventually catch-up.

And I know they have a ton of draft capital this year but they don't have the best track record with picks.

If Jets or Broncos could be reeled in to trading up for their QB at #1 that has to look pretty attractive. 4-5 spot drop plus 2019 #1 and some change - pretty good position to get two of Fitz, Chubb, Nelson, Barkley. You know 2 QBs will go in those top 3 or 4 spots.

They also get to cheat on that value chart since they have the #4 - teams are paying to jump them twice.

I'd work over the Jets - they will suck again so that 2019 more likely to be higher value.

If you are another GM, would you give up this much? Is there someone in 2018 worth it? A franchise QB? Is your team that one player with an immediate impact away?

The Browns got a QB, a WR, and a CB...

So they’re going with Barkley at no.1 now, right? Who’s at 4? Fitzpatrick still?

Most def did NOT get a QB today... fvk me... I’m glad they got Landry we now have legit weapons there but still no one to throw the ball... Fitz is still an absolute must

It SOUNDS like they are trying to put a team in place to lure Cousins.... if that’s the case, yes Barkley at one may be real

Would be such a terrible decision. Chubb, Nelson and Fitzpatrick should be on their shortlist if they aren't drafting a QB. Now they really need to find someone to move up so they can add back a couple picks and continue bolstering their roster.

Browns just might be doing something right.

Cousins is not coming with Taylor in the mix. As a Bills fan I get TT is not a franchise QB but he's certainly better than a backup. No way does this trade make Cousins look at Clev as more attractive. If anything it keeps them in position to draft a top QB who could sit and learn gor a couple years

They have literally no need for guards, Nelson is great but Cleveland unfortunately doesn't need him...

Which is what they should have done with Kizer last year, lol.

The Taylor trade doesn't but the Landry trade does... Coukdnt care less about Taylor...

I still hope they take Barkley #1 and QB at #4. They will then have two play-makers the defenses have to worry about...before Landry they had zero.

I just can’t see drafting Barkley #1 when the difference between him and a Michel or Guice is that much different. They will still draft a QB #1.

Now that it's sunk in I like two of these trades and hate the third... we will see... I'm seeing rumors they either aren't done or tried for more... some big names floating around but who knows...

I like Rosen much more than RGIII, and I think Darnold and Mayfield are probably also ahead of him as prospects.

The Rams only dropped back 4 spots in 2012.

The sheer amount of Browns fans wanting Barkley with the first pick astonishes me... then I remember this is the same fan base that celebrated when we drafted johnny dipshit....

This might be ignorant, but...

Sam Darnold as a top ten pick? (First round, for that matter.)

What a joke. He's awful.

(Disclaimer: I have nothing to base this on, other than watching him play.)

I hope this has been the primary discussion in this thread. :)
