disagree. in short, i think trump's base will eat it up, the orange man bad folks will cheer acosta like they cheer mad maxine and people harassing politicians, and the moderates and independents will mostly think whiny unhinged self entitled. the pulling of the mic twice from the girl looks much worse than trump telling acosta he's a turd and to sit down.

Yes.... Twice...

Yeah, honestly guys, that's way worse optics for Trump than Acosta. There are about a hundred different ways he could've handled that better. At worst, he should've Bill Belichicked him if he thought he was hogging the mic and asking bad questions.

But he's not Belichick. He's Parcels.

If there was an award for whiniest, most self entitled douche bag.... Acosta would win unopposed. I know I shouldn't be, but I'm still surprised that CNN puts up with the optics. If they aren't concerned with him simply looking like a douche, I would think they would hate that he constantly gets owned by Sanders and Trump.

Because you're thinking about it from a rational point of view and see acosta, et al for what they really are. In acosta, cnn's, and countless others' minds, they fully believe and buy into a mindset that they are noble crusaders. They genuinely believe they are Spartacus, Wiliiam Wallace, Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi, and Thomas More all wrapped into one.

Eh, debatable, man. It would be one thing if this was acosta's first time doing this. It's like his, what, 10th time though? His schtick has worn off. The optics are really bad for acosta, cnn, and main stream media.

Sad to see him put his hands on this woman just trying to do her job.

Was just scrolling through Twitter and saw so many people saying that the WH and Sanders are using a doctored InfoWars to accuse Acosta. The funny part is that many of them are retweeting or quote tweeting video from ABC, NBC, and MSNBC showing different angles of the exact same thing.

Did Acosta brutalize her, no, beat her, no, he simply brushed her arm away as she made her third attempt to retrieve the mic.

Amazing. In the seat in southern New Mexico, the Democratic candidate, Xochiti Torres Small, won after 8,000 ballots that were not counted or posted on election night were entered into the totals. About 6400 of those 8000 votes went to Torres Small. Almost 200,000 people voted with lines of voters waiting past poll closing time to cast their vote in the most populous part of the district, Las Cruces, which is also a college town. It's not clear if those made up much of the votes that had not yet been counted. There were also absentee and provisional ballots that needed counting. The Rep candidate, Yvette Harrell, had declared victory the night before. In reviewing all those 8,000 votes prior to the final count, five representatives from each campaign also participated. The 2nd District has been represented by Republicans since NM went to three districts in 1983 except for two years.

Xochitl Torres Small wins the 2nd Congressional District race

In the 4th District of Utah, about 200,000 votes have been counted and the race between Ben McAdams and Mia Love is too close to call with Love behind by about 5,000 votes. Except for the President and the leader of her Party, who said she lost - “Mia Love gave me no love and she lost. Too bad. Sorry about that, Mia.” In reference to Love and also to Rep Barbara Comstock (R, Va) who lost, Trump said: “They did very poorly and I’m not sure I should be happy or sad. But I feel just fine about it.”

In Utah County, a Love stronghold, 88,000 votes have yet to be counted. In Salt Lake County, roughly 116,000 votes need to be counted. 16,000 provisional ballots have yet to be counted. They have not specified how much of those votes are from 4th District. Some updates will be made on Friday. It is estimated that this may take two weeks to be official.

Love has voted with Trump 95.7% of the time, but did not invite him to speak in her behalf. Trump's approval/disapproval rating has changed by 29 pts in the 4th District since his inauguration where now more 4th District voters disapprove of him than approve. Instead Love choose to campaign with Mitt Romney, Utah's new Senator. Of interest, Love's parents escaped from Haiti when her father was threatened by the Tonton Macout, entering on a tourist visa. Her birth in Brooklyn enabled her parents to gain a residency permit (a green card). Should Love overcome initial results and win re-election when all the votes are counted, the relationship with the President who mocked her and "feels just fine" about her "loss" may be a tad bit rocky. The Fat Lady hasn't sang on this one yet, though one New Yorker has.

Trump says Mia Love already lost race because she 'gave me no love ... too bad' (Deseret News)

Decided to read more after watching the clip. MSNBC was defending Acosta and piling on Trump. No surprise there.

I will side with Lax a little. After refusing to give up the mic, they should have just silenced the mic, used another one and moved to the next reporter. Having said that, I had no problem with DJT telling him to sit down. When he refused to sit down he opened the door for a dressing down.

Like or loathe him, you have to admire DJT for letting you know how he feels. I don't always agree with him, but I do like that it's not status quo in the WH.

They didn't want Trump there because they thought it would hurt their chances, which ended up being just the opposite. They were worried about the vocal minority.

Some folks are way over playing this narrative of Acosta abusing a poor little woman intern. He was out of order and if you can't even pretend to honor any level of decorum your credentials should be revoked. To me it was more disrespectful to the other reporters in the room than anything. Not to mention he was just rehashing the same tired questions. Very little in that room done to advance the narrative and when you listen to the questions they are all very leading/accusatory/unoriginal.

Would be hilarious if they find some 6'5" musclehead bouncer type be the mic tender for the next PC. Arm bar that MFer and drag him out of there if they do not comply.

At the same point - WH press room has been decending into squalor, I think Trump willfully lets it happen to expose them as partisan hacks. I mean you can count on one hand the number of times Obama was challenged (maybe even the number of hours he spent answering open questions in 8 years). Anyone who challenged the chosen one was called a racist. Now you have reporters calling the president a white nationalist to his face... repeatedly.

I have found Stewart pretty obnoxious for quite a while but dammit he is spot on here.

Trump said a number of things they should have pounced on (optimistically nontheless). 1) Stumping for Pelosi. 2) Openly promoting bi-partisan legislation (no follow up on areas of agreement, b/c Orange Man Bad and working with him would make him not bad!). 3) Immigration - Trump was very clear about immigrants needed for the economy, no nuance sought from reporters b/c they would rather pound the racist white nationalist drum.

Really it is like they are so blind with hatred and demanding he confesses to their darkest beliefs that they can not objectively report. Every assumption is negative - contrast to Obama who they just short of literally licked his boots.

"Pres Obama - why are you so amazing and loved by all?"

(no formal intro "why are you so evil and wrong about everything?"

Sports media guys like Peter King and Pat Forde are now talking about Acosta like a hero for all "journalists." What a joke.

Shocked... Forde absolutely hates Trump. See his article about Trump going to the last NC game.

Here's the thing. Journalist are there to ask hard questions. They are expected to be professional. Acosta spent the first 95% of his time soapboxing, not asking a real question. The question that he did ask, had zero journalistic value as a question, and was only designed to show boat. NOT journalism.

Acosta is great for the GOP. Hope they let him back in.

Trump owns them. He puts a carrot out there, and then beats them with the stick.
IF CNN and the libs would just chill, do their jobs, and attack what should be attacked, they'd have easily taken the senate too. If they'd just relax and be patient for the next two years, they'd take back the presidency. TDS has everyone acting like fools, which galvanizes the right and pushes mods right of center.

To follow up on my above post on Xochitl Torres Small, her district in southern NM fronts on the border with Mexico, has a lot of oil and gas exploration, and is very large rural area and conservative. Steve Pearce, the current Rep, is a member of the Freedom Caucus, has been outspoken that he was skeptical that Obama was born in the U.S. and denied climate change. Pearce did not endorse Trump's goal of building a wall at the border. Yvette Harrell's major donations came from the Freedom Caucus and an oil company and was endorsed by the NRA. Torres Small's husband, Nathan, is a Dem rep to the state legislature and comes from a ranching family. Torres Small's grandfather was a farm laborer and her parents are a teacher and a social worker in Las Cruces. Harrell led in every poll prior to the election and the district was considered Rep lean. The district has never been represented by a Hispanic and 67% of its residents are white with 27% Hispanic. The district has voted for McCain, Bush and Trump in Presidential elections. The median income in her district is just over $29,000. Torres Small is a water rights attorney, got her graduate degree from Georgetown and her JD from Univ. of NM, and worked in Las Cruces as a field rep for Senator Tom Udall. She is the first woman to represent the district. In the midterms, Democrats won every statewide office in NM and all their federal Reps and Senators are now Democratic. Trump did not campaign for Harrell but V.P. Mike Pence did. Trump's disapproval rating in N.M. showed the largest drop of all states.

I previously posted Mia Love's bio. She is Haitian-American, grew up in Brooklyn, met her husband-to-be when they went to school at Hartford Univ (Conn) and then went to Utah, converted to Mormonism, and worked in the community before winning the district's U.S. Rep position to which she was re-elected twice. Prior, she also was elected to the City Council and was Mayor in her town of 18,000. In her elections, she has been endorsed by Mitt Romney, Majority Leader Eric Cantor and Speakers John Boehner and Paul Ryan. Love was a speaker at the 2012 Republican convention. She was the first and only female black Republican Representative. Tim Scott (S.Carolina) and Will Hurd (Texas) are the other two black Republican House Reps. They each won re-elections.

The GA Gov drama is getting tiresome.

If the #s are correct, there are only around 20-25k left to count, and Kemp has 60k lead. Could still go to a run off if Kemp's % drops below 50%.

Kemp got more votes than any gov ever, so obviously both sides got out to vote. A run off would be full tilt crazy.

Updated AZ Senate count coming out at 5pm, but still assume we're looking at next week before final counts are in.
Guessing it will go blue, but pretty irrelevant in the overall scheme of things.

It's only irrelevant as it relates to control of the Senate for the next two years. It could become extremely important in controlling the Senate after the 2020 election. Republicans will be defending about twice as many seats as the Democrats in the 2020 election.

Bernie playing the race card in nonsensical fashion even though Florida voters voted for Obama twice.

“I think you know there are a lot of white folks out there who are not necessarily racist who felt uncomfortable for the first time in their lives about whether or not they wanted to vote for an African-American,” Sanders told The Daily Beast, referencing the close contests involving Andrew Gillum in Florida and Stacey Abrams in Georgia and that ads run against the two. “I think next time around by the way it will be a lot easier for them to do that.”

Whats going on here in Florida smells really bad. Broward County is clearly being shady as hell as it appears they are also straight up violating Florida law regarding having early votes reported within 30 minutes of polls closing.

I think they are daring a Republican governor who is a Senator elect to step in and call shenanigans.

I'm not really worried about GOP turnout in a prez election year, especially 2020.
The 2020 cycle will be pure fire.

Everyone is smart when they vote dem. When they vote GOP, they're racist, uneducated, evil, Nazis, or have mental issues. What bothers me most is how they treat African Americans when they vote GOP.

What I'd like to see more than anything is a GOP African American become president with the attitude of John James (he lost for the MI Senate). If you have never heard him speak, it's worth a 5 minute google. I love his views on the Dem's broken promises and how they have been exploiting AAs for years. Hope he doesn't give up after this.
