Updated the OP some. Keep in mind that someone listed as "HIGH" now, does not hold nearly the merit it will as the recruiting season progresses simply because the net being cast right now is so large. So currently, the "HIGH" tag does not mean a commitment is imminent like it probably will towards the end of the season.

So as of now the way you can read it is that "LOW" means there has been little to no talk of ND since an offer, "MEDIUM" means there has been some positive talk and ideas of a visit, "HIGH" means they've either visited before and/or are planning a visit, have spoken very highly of ND, or recruitniks have given very good reason to think they would be a future commit (aka Wiltfong's crystal ball).

Of the 5 that you mentioned
1. Day is gone and we got no proven replacement.
2.Jones is great when healthy
3.Cage Solid but like jones has been injured but forced to play FR and soph yr due to piss poor recruiting.
4. Tillerysame as Cage..had to play due to piss poor recruiting at this position
5. Rochell is a SDE and has no known replacement -another FR forced to play i assume

I am not saying we are in awful shape, but it is bad (maybe not piss poor) relying on underclassmen to anchor the interior of our defense.

We don't need 5 WR classes. We need classes loaded with front 7 on the D imho

1. Cage did okay, and Tillery did great at 3tech, DT. The problem is Tillery was forced into the nose tackle role as a true freshman. That was do to an unforeseen injury to a seasoned starter that ended the season, for all intents and purposes. One can't really call that a 'recruiting problem' unless one expects to have two elite noses on the same defense. Do you believe there are just that many around?

2. So is Nick Chubb, and a dozen others I can think of, right off the top of my head. What happened to Georgia's running game production after Chubb went down. Remember they had Sony Michel backing him up, one of the most highly sought after recruits in his class. And Chubb came to mind so fast because his injury was just as freakish as Jones'.

3. Many have discussed this before, and even the biggest Bob Diaco fans admit that his recruiting, specifically at defensive tackle was piss poor. Since then it has improved greatly, but you are correct in stating that freshmen and sophomores need to fill in, and that its origin is due to poor recruiting. But dt is the position that has turned from zero to hero the most in the last couple of years, that is why freshmen and sophomores do need to fill in!

4. Agreed with fragment. As far as a point against ND recruiting since Bob Diaco, who was Recruiting Coordinator, as well as Defensive Coordinator, see point 3 above.

5. Rochell is a senior, and has logged maximum minutes per game with minor injuries (knock on wood). His long term replacement at this point will probably be Khalid Kareem. However Bonner and Blankenship have both played. Bonner is one step away from really getting it from what I have seen, and may be hard to keep off the field. And Blankenship has some really good athleticism as well as great size. If he gets his shit squared away, he could be really good, too. I don't see any recruiting problem at SDE.

With only 25 allowed per year, we can't afford to use 12 offers on one prospect. It never gets old.

Fred Hansard, a composite top 150 DT from NJ said that he's been hearing from ND (Coach Booker) a lot and expects an offer to come soon. He's trying to make it out for the March 16th. So the Junior Day is March 19th but his tweet says he'll be here on the 16th, not sure if that is a mix up or that's just when he can make it.

With 3.5 weeks to go, I'm pretty happy with that list. There are quite a few maybes that could make me a lot more excited. Need to add some DL to that list. Guys like Wade Perry and Fred Hansard would be really nice additions.

Quick question for the board... HAs there been any word on Rutger Reitmeier from Nashville? He made a huge jump up 247's board to #7... ahead of everyone the Irish are recruiting besides the tOSU twins. He visited last year for a game and I haven't paid much attention to him until he jumped like 15 spots.

Would have liked to see Jeddrick Wills on this first list too along with some of the Michigan guys again.

I personally like the kid quite a bit and I mentioned in a thread at 247 a week or two back I'd love to see us push for him early. I'd really like to see us land 2 DT's early and then play the long game for guys like Garrett, Hansard (if necessary), etc. Rutger, Wade Perry, and Paea fall into that first group.

Also, an offer needs to go out to Luiji Vilain and especially now with Beal not even looking like an option.
