That is a great school to choose from! I do not recall his name, but I really like their QB and I believe he is a Sophomore? Watched the game against Bosco and he was very impressive!

Irish targeting 2017 Rivals100 members

The first edition of the Rivals100 for the class of 2017 was released on Monday, and there are number of names on the list that are already being recruited by Notre Dame.

Brownsburg (Ind.) quarterback < a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Hunter-Johnson-161151;_ylt=An9nnsECr8PhrzbFUXtd2o1GPZB4">Hunter Johnson was one of nine quarterbacks to earn a star ranking in the initial release, and he's one of Notre Dame's top overall targets on the board.

Johnson recently told Blue & Gold Illustrated that he has been in contact with new Notre dame offensive coordinator Mike Sanford, and that he will be taking an unofficial visit to campus on March 15.

While Johnson is certainly a prospect that Irish fans should get to know moving forward, he's not the only target that earned a set of stars on Monday. Blue & Gold Illustrated takes a look at some of the other underclassmen on the list with early interest from the Notre Dame coaching staff.

4-star WR Terrell Bynum (Anaheim, Calif.) - Notre Dame has yet to offer Bynum, but it should be noted that the Irish coaching staff frequented Servite High during the recruitment of Equanimeous St. Brown.

4-star CB Chevin Calloway (Dallas, Texas) - The Irish were the first to offer Calloway back on Jan. 28. He attends the same high school as current Notre Dame defensive back Nick Watkins.

4-star DE A.J. Epenesa (Edwardsville, Ill.) - Epenesa's father played for Bob Elliott at Iowa, which gives him a familiar face at Notre Dame. He was offered by the Irish on Jan. 29.

4-star ATH Maleik Gray (La Vergne, Tenn.) - Notre Dame recruiting coordinator Mike Elston offered Gray back on Feb. 14. He doesn't know much about the Irish but did see them play Florida State last season.

5-star WR Trevon Grimes (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) - Grimes recently named Ohio State his leader, but he's an Indiana native that has stated before, that he would like to visit Notre Dame. The Irish offered on Jan. 1.

5-star CB Darnay Holmes (Newbury Park, Calif.) - The Irish offered Holmes on Dec. 3 when former quarterback Matt LaFleur recruited the area. Sanford is now expected to take over the recruitment.

4-star LB Anthony Hines (Plano, Texas) - Notre Dame offered Hines last summer when Kerry Cooks was in place.

4-star RB Greg Johnson (Los Angeles, Calif.) - The Irish haven't offered Johnson yet, but he's being evaluated after landing recent bids from a number of PAC-12 schools.

4-star QB Hunter Johnson (Brownsburg, Ind.) - Johnson had a previous relationship with LaFleur. He's now building one with Sanford.

4-star WR Joseph Lewis (Los Angeles) - Lewis was offered by Notre Dame on March 6. It will be difficult to lure away from nearby USC and UCLA.

4-star WR Tyjon Lindsey (Las Vegas) - Notre Dame has turned Bishop Gorman into a pipeline, and Lindsey is the next talented pass-catcher at the school.

4-star DT Kayden Lyles (Scottsdale, Ariz.) - Notre Dame offered Lyles last April during the spring evaluation period.

4-star QB Tate Martell (Las Vegas) - Like Lindsey, Martell is one of the next big things to come out of Bishop Gorman. The one time Washington commit already golds offers from USC and Arizona State.

5-star LB Dylan Moses (Baton Rouge, La.) - Notre Dame offered the LSU commit back in August of 2013.

5-star OL Josh Myers (Miamisburg, Ohio) - Myers told Blue & Gold Illustrated in January that he has been in contact with Irish offensive line coach Harry Hiestand. He committed to Ohio State a few weeks later.

4-star WR Osiris St. Brown (Anaheim, Calif.) - The brother of 2014 signee Equanimeous St. Brown was offered by Irish head coach Brian Kelly in-person on Jan. 28 during an in-home visit with the family.

4-star OL Isaiah Wilson (Brooklyn) - Wilson told Blue & Gold Illustrated on Saturday that he hadn't heard much from Notre Dame to date, but he's interested in the program. He attends the same high school as current lineman Jay Hayes.

4-star S Daniel Wright (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) - Wright doesn't hold an offer from Notre Dame, but that should change. New running backs coach Autry Denson has ties to Cardinal Gibbons, and Wright - who's brother is NFL safety Major Wright - is one of the top prospects at the school.

Joshua Ross had never met Notre Dame defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder before, but all it took was one five-minute chalk talk session with the coach for him to realize that's a man he could see himself playing for one day.

Ross, who took an unofficial visit to Notre Dame on Sunday, was offered a scholarship by the Irish on the spot, and that put the program right into his top three.

"Notre Dame, to me, is a school that I really like," Ross said. "I would say that Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame are my top three, with no order."

"My dad is curious too, about why we haven't heard from them. If they don't then that's how it is. He tells me I should go to a school that really wants me, and just because he went to Notre Dame doesn't mean I have to go there. It's not like that at all. He's not pushing me anywhere."
He was invited to the Irish Invasion in June, but at this point it doesn't look like the trip is in the works.
Instead, the current slate of summer plans includes Alabama, Texas A&M, Texas, Arizona State, Miami, Florida, LSU and Oklahoma State.

"Several of those schools have been showing a lot of love," Smith Jr. said. "They've shown they really want me, which is important. I'll probably make those trips and then start working on narrowing down a list, definitely a top ten."

"He was awesome," Dudley said. "That was the first time that I had met him, and he made everything very personable. We talked about when he was at Stanford and stuff like that. He 'bumped' into Najee and then watched us practice. I was very impressed."

HH came to pick up transcripts and check up on 2017 offensive tackle Jake Moretti. The Arvada Pomona High product said he spoke to Hiestand on the phone for about 20 minutes and that's when he learned that he had the offer.

"It's crazy. … I mean it's Notre Dame. The history they have behind that school with the alum they have it's just a great university and it means a lot,"
