Since my Steelers are gone, I'll draft for my "new" Hometown. Give me them Dirty Birds.

I'd love the Bucs unless ACamp is serious about taking them. If that's the case I'll take the Saints.

If we're allowed to have two picks in a round, I can take the Saints 31st.

{Roger Goodell walks to the podium at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University. Capacity crowd greets him with a chorus of boos.}

With the first pick in the 2015 draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select.....Quarterback Jameis Winston, Florida State University.

{Crowd boos even louder as the camera cuts to an emotional Winston from his off-site draft party. Winston praises god, thanks the Buccaneers organization and goes on epic rant about how the Buccaneers won't be sorry for selecting him, promises championships, etc. Half the country doesn't understand the words coming out of his mouth. Ignorant viewers across America proclaim what a dumbass Winston is. TV cuts back to their analysts to break down film and discuss his off-field issues.}

I told you mother ******* Winston would ace his interviews and X/O sessions with coaches, and from all accounts, that's exactly what he did. Everyone wanted to point and laugh at his diction and proclaim him a dumbass but the kid is a QB savant cut from the same cloth as Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Andrew Luck. His mental traits are as impressive as his physical traits, despite his poor diction.

But, but, but, he's a rapist! Guilty until proven innocent in the court of public opinion. Some of you sheep fell right in line and, based on your own expertise/investigation, rendered a guilty verdict. The kid isn't a rapist and if he was never falsely accused in the first place, public opinion of him today would be drastically different than it is, despite his other off-field incidents.

But, but, but, he's a thief! He stole some fountain soda (no free refills!) and crab legs (youthful ignorance!). The crab leg incident is harder to defend, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was more to that story than we've been told. For the sake of argument, let's say he did steal $35 worth of crab legs. I'm pretty sure he'll be able to buy as many crab legs as he wants with the contract he's about to sign.

Of all his off-field incidents, the one that is most troubling to me is "FHRITP". This was the point I stopped defending him (until now). He's the type of guy who likes being the center of attention. He likes to make people around him laugh and I'm sure everyone did. Personally, I think the whole FHRITP thing is stupid, but kids will be kids and I'm just an unhip guy in his 30s.

I have to cut this short because I have to bring my son to a birthday party. Winston has the mental and physical traits to be a franchise/HOF quarterback. Hands down the best to come out since Luck and one of the best to come out in the last 10 years. I don't have confidence he will achieve a lot of TEAM success in Tampa Bay because the organization is crap, but they made the right decision in making Winston the face of the franchise.

And, most importantly, I am confident Winston will keep his nose clean in the NFL. Unfortunately, it's going to take a while to wash the stink off his college reputation, but it will happen eventually.

With the second pick in the 2015 draft, the Tennessee Titans select.....Defensive Lineman Leonard Williams, USC.

I actually believe they could trade down a little bit to a team desperate enough for Mariota. While QB play in Tennessee is left to be desired, i think 2nd is too high for Mariota. Tennessee has been adding to their strong defense to include the addition of Dick LeBeau.

Leonard Williams is arguably the best player in the draft, even ahead of Winston. I believe in taking BPA thus the selection of Williams.

"Williams displays the versatility and first-step quickness to be a nightmare for opposing offensive coordinators. Williams would give LeBeau and Horton another chess piece to create mismatches in a stout front-7."

With the 3rd pick the 2015 NFL draft your Jacksonville Jaguars select Vic Beasley DE Clemson.

I really feel he is the best pass rusher in the draft. The dude just fires off the ball. The Jags haven't had a pass rusher that other teams fear in a decade. The last being Tony Brakens. If Williams was on the board he'd be the pick, but he's not and I'm happy to add VB to the teal family.

Lol, do you disagree with my statement?

Report: Jameis Winston’s football knowledge impressing clubs | ProFootballTalk

Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston’s knowledge of the game reportedly caught the attention of numerous club officials who met with him this week at the NFL Scouting Combine.

In a story published Saturday, Bleacher Report‘s Mike Freeman quoted an unnamed evaluator who raved about Winston’s “[f]ootball IQ.”

Said the evaluator: “I think he’s probably the smartest player I’ve ever interviewed.”

Freeman also reports that Winston had been compared to Peyton Manning from a football intelligence standpoint “several times” in the reporter’s discussions with club officials

They said JaMarcuss Russell interviewed well...

I'll let this article speak for me. I don't agree with everything, but that's my general premise. I think Winston is going to flop and is an incredibly poor human being.

Right on cue, the prospect with the most derelict off-field record in twenty years, is getting praise for not raping a co-ed in front of NFL personnel men.

“Charismatic Jameis Winston Erasing Doubts in NFL Combine Interviews”.

Bwhahahahahahaaaaa!
/milk shoots out nose

If the interview process was so crucial, and if it was so good at “sizing up” an important player like say, a quarterback, then how do you explain Jamarcus Russell? How come nobody could figure out this guy was a lazy, over-eating fan of the “Purple Drank” and not much else?

The otherwise smart Steve Young once said that Mark Sanchez came off as “almost presidential” in his presentation in one-on-one setting in the lead-up to the draft. This sounds comical now, looking back. Not that Sanchez was entirely un-successful or as big of a shit-heel as Russell, but he basically underachieved at the position while enjoying the Gotham Pussy Express and posing shirtless for as many glossy magazines as possible.

Hell, think about RG3 for a minute. Not only did the vaunted “interview process” not ferret out the fact that Griffin is a complicated, insecure, locker-room polarizing figure (with a deep delusional streak), but Griffin was able to maintain a great facade for almost a year and half.

I'm not buying that about JaMarcus. I don't want to derail this with a discussion on Russell, but I did a quick search and ALL of the talk was about his freakish physical traits. I read about 10-15 pre-draft thoughts on Russell and not one of them said anything about his interview or football IQ. In fact, I found several GMs/Scouts/Analysts that saw Russell for what he ultimately became....a flop.

Do a google search on "Jameis Winston football IQ" and see what comes up. See the ilk of the guys who are praising him and comparing him to Manning and Luck.

I don't disagree with the premise of the article you linked. He makes some good points about the importance of "job interviews". I don't know much about the guy but he's a radio personality so I'll take his opinion with a grain of salt. Those guys are paid to go against popular opinion.

But, my point was regarding Winston's intelligence. Given what's been said about him this off-season, I think this point is undeniable. We can agree to disagree.

I didn't see a guy with an Andrew Luck-like football IQ when I watched Jameis Winston play football last season. I saw a guy that made repeated, dumb mistakes to put his team in holes before halftime.

The Louisville and Florida games stood out the most. He just made some absolutely head-scratching plays in those games, for a guy that supposedly has such a high football IQ.
