"sooo much weird stuff happening the past year and a half"

Please list the plethora of weird stuff in your glittering generality drive by.

"Circus"?

You sound like one of NDN's field turf/stadium expansion/jumbotron/Kelly never runs the ball hyperbole posters.

I'd like to hear all this things that stand out compared to Miami, UNC, Saban hiring Kiffin, PSU's continuing pedophile saga, among others.

The Fulmer Cup awarded ND 12 points for Will Mahone's incident. They neglected to adjust those numbers downward when he received 10 days for 4 misdemeanor offenses.

Here's the list of Fulmer Offenses from 1/1/14 thru 7/5/14.

How about getting blown out in the NC game and then having your star linebacker embarrassed by having a fake GF?

He specifically said "don't take this the wrong way." Maybe you shouldn't go comparing him to some ND Nation conspiracist.

Plus Golson being expelled, Mahone going HAM on an officer and getting expelled, Nile Sykes finding out when he arrives on campus that he's all of a sudden 'not a good fit'. I think circus is fitting.

You really have to like those reactions. Ashton sounds all business.

Every one of those kids had a mature reaction beyond their years. With the double joy of finding how physically gifted Ashton is, and seeing this awesome level of maturity I have become really juiced about Ashton.

Actually, I think the kids quoted in this article have a more mature grasp of the situation, and are more articulate in their expression than about 85 percent of the so called fans.

Some is mental illness or immaturity on the part of the fans. But more is only an inarticulate expression of their feelings, fueled by frustration. So I think it is really refreshing to see a group of kids, (Kids that Kelly recruited all you Kelly haters!!!), that express themselves in such a healthy manner.

FWIW, I saw CJ McCarter on campus Saturday before the game. He was walking on the players walk with other recruits. He had clearly just worked out, for the staff I assume. He then sat in the recruits area down in front of the student section where Barajas and Boykin were. He is a 2015 recruit from Bishop Luers (LB/RB), I assumed a preferred walk on spot potentially. He has a 247 profile with absolutely no info on it, not even a photo.

Also, Justin Tranquill was there. He was walking nicely, very slight limp occasionally, no brace. After the game he was getting photos with Drue on the field and put Drue's helmet on for photos.

Would love to see Justin as a PWO.

Definitely cool. And I echo Whiskey's comment.

In a somewhat unrelated note, there's definitely a couple posters here who would love to put on Drue's game-used equipment after a game. I'd bet his cup would be first on the list.

Seriously Buster, in the Rice game I saw Koyack, Luatua and Smythe all lineup in the backfield. It's probably not gonna be a true Chris Cooley type position as much as I want it to be. But the ASU kid plays like Luatua. I like that offer a lot.

1. CJ McCarter was up there with a ton of kids from Luers and I think a group from a high school/AWP made the trip up. There were probably a group of 10 or so players from Fort Wayne in attendance. I wouldnt look too much into that.

2. If Notre Dame talked Justin Tranquill into a PWO position, that would probably be the recruiting steal of the year. I dont think that he would be interested in that unless his scholarship offers drop, but I have heard his rehab is going very well.

3. I really dont think a team can have enough 6'5 250lb TE guys. He can be a bigger TE and Hudson has zero problem getting into the seam at that size. Also, like someone mentioned in his thread, he does have the size to possible grow into a OL position. I love the offer and it has definitely given him something to think about.

Different kind of recruiting. He is probably interviewing students for jobs or something like that since he cannot do football recruiting (I wish he could)

Would love the front page updated as this is the most interesting read and really gets your hopes up. Same with Master List 16 which could fill in gaps as to where we stand.

Is Cowart still an option? And last I saw Marshall seemed like a heavy USC lean I thought. I hope we can get him, but feel like he's out. Better shot with Yikli Ross I think. Everyone else I agree with, if we miss with ESB there is also Cager.

I think we need some DT/DE help. Would love to get a big recruit at that position, but seems too late this cycle. Hope we get all these guys, even half of them would be a great cycle.

Marshall is suppose to visit however don't see anything happening there. Ross is an option and Loy thinks we land however Scott on the USC site seems confident he is all Trojan so we will see what happens. Cowart not an option in my opinion, haven't seen ND mentioned since he visited. Cager seems all Ohio State to me but that could change if their season is a dump and we offer and blow him away on a visit

I think you never know. If we play very well this season and the defense is a highlight of the year, some kids that were committed or locks to other teams may start to waver especially if school of choice has troubles or coaching issues.

Happens every year...

Man is that a well-coached football program. Brian Kelly deserves a ton of credit. Many thought the defense would take a huge step back after losing so much talent, but they were even quicker than they have been the last two years flying to the football and getting after the quarterback. Maybe it was a slow Michigan team that made them look so good and some atrocious blocking, but I think Notre Dame is a team to watch down the stretch for a big finish. Porter Gustin, Neville Gallimore, Asmar Bilal and Tevon Coney, as well as Bo Wallace, and the biggest target of all, five-star Iman Marshall, have to be impressed with how the defense has played early on. And 2016 could be a huge year for the Irish with top prospects like Auston Robertson, Tommy Kraemer, Austin Mack and Josh King all on hand to watch Notre Dame's domination of regional rival Michigan. Watch out for the Irish, folks, if they keep playing this way.

Couldn't agree more about this being a well-coached football team. Not only are the players Brian Kelly has recruited faster and more athletic than in years past, and playing faster...they are tough, play with intensity and attitude, they are physical, and their is huge pride on the team. We may lose some games this year, and in the future but I just don't see Brian Kelly coached teams quitting, getting pushed around, or giving an inch to anybody on the field. BVG was also the perfect hire to bring intensity, attitude, and comradery to the defense. His players feed off of him and vice versa.

There is a connection there that was missing in years past, and the players obviously feel a sense of responsibility to their team. Finally, although we are a young team overall, their is definitely much better leadership within the players on the team. Every last player on the team seems like they would run through a brick wall for the guy next to them. Win or lose, this is shaping up to be one of my favorite Irish teams in a long time.

We may not land all 4 and 5 star players, but any recruits watching ND this year has to be able to see what BK and company have put together. Kids are getting the opportunity to play early, and are being prepared to succeed in those opportunities. We are recruiting football players, not just stars on recruiting websites, evidence by how far ahead of the curve BK is on some of the kids he has gotten in with early who have gone on to blow up later in the process as well as some of the unheralded recruits who we have learned are damn good football players once they got on campus. 2015 has the chance to build on two back to back recruiting classes that brought in athletes and littered the roster with talent and depth, and 2016 could be shaping up to be icing on the cake.

With next week being the bye week we'll have quite a few coaches on the road recruiting. Something I started thinking about with the Michigan recruiting weekend coming and passing without commits is.....

Do you think that we have a set board right now that we're willing to hold tight with for the foreseeable future? Or do we take this first bye week as an opportunity to start up some new relationships and send out new offers/work old ones?

Something to keep in mind is the next open date is the weekend after FSU, Oct. 25th.

Also, we started out this class thinking it was going to be small but kept hearing that the staff was willing to push the numbers much higher than previously thought.

Do you think that we end up with that smaller class or we still push that number?
