Just playing Devil's advocate, but with the question marks in the secondary as it is, it can also be argued that the talent should stay on the offensive side, since we may need to just outscore everyone to win anyway.
And before everyone jumps on me, I know that the front seven is good enough to erase some of those questions, and that Defense Wins Championships!!!, etc.
However, BK was one second away from taking UC to a Natl Championship, and the defense was a question mark that whole season. How did he do it? His offense simply outscored everyone. He didn't move DJ Woods, his stud freshman receiver, to corner just because he had two new starters. He kept the most electric athletes on offense and let his D-coordinator win with scheme and strategy.
Davonte Neal needs the ball in his hands, Bob Diaco has great hair, he'll figure out a way to get quality out of whoever is the next CB to step in.
EDIT: I also realize that UC doesn't play nearly as difficult a schedule as ND, but even so, putting up 40 ppg and going 12-0 is mighty impressive. And there were a few decent offenses in the Big East that year as well, so it wasn't a cakewalk for UC.
