I seem to recall at one point there was talk of Ferguson being an EE candidate but not really sure.

As I understand it, EEs technically count toward last year's 25-per-class maximum. We signed 24 in the 2011 class, of which 5 were EEs (which counted towards 2010), so we technically have 19 kids in the 2011 class. 25 max - 19 = 6 potential EEs this cycle.

It obviously helps star recruits prepare to play as freshman, but it's makes roster management easier.

This is how I understand it works as well

One quibble, I believe the EE's may count toward the previous year where the 85/25 rules have space available, otherwise they count against the current year's 85/25.

I could be wrong, but I was thinking EE numbers really had to do with players who have exhausted eligibility. Say if ND has 85 scholarship players right now and 20 of them will have used up all eligibility by the end of the season, then that would leave 20 slots open for scholarships. But since those 20 guys won't be going forward with practices and the program, 20 new guys could come in in January and be a part of the team. I was thinking though, that the NCAA might have put a cap on EE's. Maybe NDinLA could answer this, but I thought I read somewhere during SC's appeal process, that they took 10 EE's this past January. And that was the max allowed. Perhaps maybe 10 EE's were all SC was allowed during that particular year though.

Two rules apply 85 scholarships on the team, max of 25 in a class. If a school takes a small class of 15 because of the 85 man limitation and then the next year 10 upperclassmen transfer out that school would have 10 vacancies in the 85 AND 25 man count.

Southern Cal took 18 in the Recruiting Class of '09 I believe they had some non qualifiers or defections during the Carroll/Kiffin transition. Byron Moore went to a local CC then on to Tennessee. In '10 the Trojans took 18 but again with non-qualifiers or defections (Seantrel Henderson). There were a bunch of upperclassman transfers in the summer of '10after the NCAA Sanctions. In '11 they took 30. Keep in mind the Trojans routinely take JUCOs which are also counters.

There's a thread in the Recruiting or Other College Football forums where the Trojan players where identified as they bailed or failed to qualify.

BGIF, as always. Many schools try to get as many as possible to EE. ND just likes to keep the number low.

Brindza offered to give up his EE spot last year if necessary.

keith marshall will be a EE when he decides.

Kiel/Marshall + Day/Tee would be just as exciting as last yrs class of EE's

Is there going to be some kind of announcement of who the EE's are?

From the school or coach, only after they're enrolled. Coaches can't speak of recruits before NSD or in the case of EE's, enrollment.

The individual prospect can release what he chooses whenever.

I believe classes start January 17th with orientation for new students on the 16th. Dorms open for move in on the 15th.

Wonder who has top bunk.

I hope it's Tee; for his own sake.

List of EE'S?

List of EE'S?

Hey Guys,

I'm looking for a list of recruits who we should expect to be EE's this year.
I've been looking and can't seem to find that info collected in any one spot.
If you know... could you hang a list here... if it exists already could you point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance!

THREE 5 stars... maybe 4 ???

Captain buzzkill here, Sheldon Day is almost a consensus 4-star. Scout.com (the site nobody likes) is the only one who lists him as a 5-star. Espn, rivals, and 247 all have him at 4.
