He missed around 5 games because of an ankle. The staff was being extra cautious with him to protect his future and save him for the playoffs. The ankle wasn't/isn't serious.

Don’t believe he was very effective in the 29-7 quarter final loss on Friday Night. Hopefully he becomes a stud RB at ND.

If you are banged up and miss 5 games, you also missed the 5 weeks of prep, as well as probably other preps in the weeks you did play. May not be in the best football shape with all the missed time. Just speculation.

Glad he didn’t get used a ton. Hopefully he comes in healthy and hungry.

Gotta be a great feeling having any D1 coach in your home and cooking dinner for them and eating at your table.

I was just thinking about how much of a twilight zone moment that would be. Sitting at your normal dinner table and seeing Brian Kelly, Brian Polian, Lance Taylor, and Del Alexander sitting around and eating your mom's cooking.

I wonder if they practice their dinner table routine....
I bet they have scripted compliments of mom's cooking.
They probably have the white board filled with Xs and Os, who they've turned into Mom and Dad, and perhaps siblings.

BK - "OK gentleman, we're heading to GA today to have dinner with some Baptist parents. Brian you work on dad. Del, you have the siblings and preacher. Lance, you and your smile have mom. I'll work the kid and his HS coach. If the food is bad, Del, you have the plop plop fizz fizz, right. Brian or Del, if you're struggling, you two will rotate coverage. Lance, if mom isn't melting, I'll jump in and save the day of course..."

Hopefully they didn't jump the shark and do a sleep over in their khakis.

I really hope the staff doesn't fudge up how to use this kid. A truly elite player at a huge position of need.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr"><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/NotreDame?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#NotreDame</a> has signed a five-star running back as Chris Tyree (<a href="https://twitter.com/chris_tyree4?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@chris_tyree4</a>) has signed. <a href="https://twitter.com/CoachLT39?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@CoachLT39</a> gets the nation's fastest back, who one The Fastest Man at The Opening not once, but twice. <a href="https://t.co/4JKCIlIQ9E">pic.twitter.com/4JKCIlIQ9E</a></p>— Matt Freeman (@mattfreemanISD) <a href="https://twitter.com/mattfreemanISD/status/1207273723486752774?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">December 18, 2019</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I'll be the one...

Is he truly an elite RB prospect? OR is he an offensive weapon at APB with elite speed?

I see him as the kind of guy Skip Kelly used perfectly at Oregon, not as a guy who's going to be an elite RB1 at ND. Bijan Robinson would have been that guy.

So as arrow said above, I hope the staff doesn't fudge up how they use him. Hopefully there are some of Rocket's films laying around the Gug.

* Wut? Took me a month to catch that.

I don't view him as a 3 down back, especially in the beginning of his college career. Move him around and he could be a mismatch pretty much anywhere. End arounds, short crossers, screens, etc.; just get the ball to him in space. People have commented about his size potentially being an issue; his size doesn't matter if they can't catch him.

I don't think anyone expects him to be Josh Adams banging between the tackles. I expect him to be used how the Tennessee Titans have used Dion Lewis when Henry needs a spell. Passing downs, screens, and edge plays to get him in space and test the D's sideline to sideline speed.

Out of curiosity, do you feel the same way about Shipley?

Shipley has all the makings to be a true 3 down back, imo.

Cool. I'm not good enough at watching film to really spot those differences, but Shipley definitely looks stronger in his highlights. I'm really excited about seeing some plays drawn up for Tyree next year though.

TBD. I haven't made my mind up about him but I haven't been digging into his film either. Been mostly out of the loop for the past 6 months and not up to typical Crusader-like investigative practices.

My hot take? He's at least another Weapon X. But he had a lot of production and touches unlike others. I think he went over 2000 yds on the ground and 500 yds receiving for the state champs in 6A (of 8a). They say he's 200 lbs, if so he's got a shot to be an every down back.

Biggest question to me is do they use him as is (return, APB), and let him progress naturally over 3-4 years, or do they try to pack 20lbs on him quickly and make him a between the tackles guy.

He's not an EE, so I doubt they can have him put on 20-30 pounds in two months. More than likely an APB guy in his first year

He doesnt have a very big frame so I dont know how fast weight will come to him. And he looks pretty lean naturally. Im not saying the juice wont do its thing but not sure if his body type will allow him to be a between the tackles type back.

I could see him a great for running routes out of the backfield as well as lining up in the slot. Pass blocking 275 lb DEs and 300 lb DTs...not so much
