I'm guessing he is a LB offer?

That's my guess. Of course that was my guess with my favorite LB from last cycle, Steele Chambers.

As soon as 247 and Rivals figure out he was offered watch the predictions start going ND's way. Sounds like he's a ND level student w/o football and best of all, he lives a half hour from ND's recruiting coordinator, DPyne.

The comp as usual (for the smarty pants kids) comes from Michigan who also just offered and Stanford who is hovering.

'20 NY LB Cullen Coleman (Offer)

'20 NY LB Cullen Coleman (Offer)

This is a local kid for me. Maybe I’ll check him out this fall.

The league he plays in is really poor competition I believe.

Crusader is correct that this kids is within 30 minutes of Pyne. Unfortunately he lives 10 minutes from 2019 Michigan signee Corey Johnson 😕

In that area I’m not sure a Bentley is that impressive! Great athlete. Got in early which is nice.

Most are saying Drop target but I could also see ILB with that long speed. Impressive athlete

So, a Baylor 247 mod came over to Irish 247 to post on Cullen. They were the first P5 program to offer him so they've been following him for awhile now. Apparently posted a 4.4 laser timed 40 as a sophomore (at a rivals camp) at 6'2 210. Now's he's a legit 6'3 220.

What part of Fuhreeek did you not pick up on? Was it the Fuh or the reeek that threw ya?

So who's gonna be the first to compare him to an ex-player whose name rhymes with Waylon Fifth?

I don't know who you could possibly be speaking of.

But yea, I think MLB is very intriguing if he has that kind of speed. 6'3 240 with a 4.5-6 40.

In terms of why we should be keeping tabs on him, Coleman is an elite student from an elite private school in Rye, New York. He comes from an interesting background, his father having played football at Morehouse in Atlanta, his brother heading to Columbia where he’ll play football, and his mother being from Chicago.

On paper, this feels like a prospect Notre Dame can successfully recruit.

Talent: Per 247Sports analyst James Blanchard, Coleman clocked a legitimate 40-yard dash in the 4.4’s as a 6-foot-2, 220-pound sophomore. Since adding another inch and 10 pounds, you can see that explosive talent unleashed on film in the way he dominates at the running back position.

Mom's from Chicago???

First CB officially thrown.

I might be more excited about Coleman than Tosh Baker. Just kidding.

Probably a DePaul fan.

You ARE old. Those haven't existed since Mark Aguirre and Terry Cummings.

(Actually since Tommy Kleinschmidt but I don't know your knowledge of Hoopology.)

Larry Bird took care of Mark Aquirre in the NCAA semi's in '79. 35 pts. & 16 reb. for Bird against 19 and 5 for Aquirre. Sycamores prevail 76-74.

And that was the only good news that came out of Salt Lake City.

Their win vs Sidney Moncrief and Arkansas in the Regional Final was even better.

On an unrelated note... I'm impressed with Matt Rhule's recruiting. For a school in Texas to be the first one in on a kid from the North... gotta give them credit.

Rhule is going to tear it up at ND.

OK, I will be that guy...

Are we sure about a NY guy? Haven't we had some NY guys of late with less than expected results?

I mean it sounds like he has the skills, but gotta ask.

Reminds of David Perkins and Zander Horvath during their playing days when they were running through the NIC

Actually there's a guy who just moved down here from the Chicago Burbs (all the names run together to me) whose family hates Notre Dame because they're DePaul fans. So they're around, just dormant

Agreed! I was a sophomore at ISU at the time … enjoying the small school NCAA championship dream! And now, back to Cullen Coleman and hopefully brighter news (eventually becoming a ND signee) …

FIFY

As much as Bird was the team that year, Heaton was the one that hit the winner against Arkansas and also hit a half court shot to keep them undefeated during the regular season.

Back to Coleman.
