Wants to play RB in college according to BGI podcast. I think it'll be about convincing him to become a LB or Drop because he's not a big time RB recruit but could be a big time defensive prospect.

A RB? That's a tall RB. He should get input from more schools to see what they say too.

It's difficult to convince a player he'd be better at a different position. But couldn't they just list the starting heights of all RBs in the NFL over the past 10 years?

If he's really 6'3" then he'd be in rarified company. Have there been any 6'3" RBs?

If you’re asking about the NFL then Derrick Henry is currently in the NFL at 6’3” and Brandon Jacobs was at least 6’3”.

In the last 10 years, I'd say no. Eric Dickerson was 6'3 though, but that was 30 years ago.

The quotes from 247 sound like he's not sold on any one position at this time. But that ND went all in on RB during this visit. No mention of any other position and solely spent time with Lance Taylor and offensive staff.

How many RB's might the staff be willing to take this year? If Tyree and Murphy jumped on board this kid wouldn't be a take would he?

No. Nobody would be a take at that point. This RB class is a two recruit MAX.

I'm not so sure it'd be a hard no with Cullen. They did push RB exclusively on his trip but I gotta believe if we grabbed two rb's tomorrow, they wouldn't stop recruiting this guy. He's got insane upside on defense as well. Partially why I wish they would've taken a softer tone with his possible future position.

He was extremely long and lean. I stood by the running backs the whole time and thought it was strange this dude was by that position the whole time. He didn't strike me as a running back but definitely an athlete for the defensive side of the ball

The problem is where would he be a take? They're extremely picking this cycle at LB. Would he be a drop candidate? Not right now with where we stand with other prospects....

Just my opinion but I just don't see it this year with these numbers and certain positions of need. It may all be a moot point because he expressed a desire to play RB this weekend.

Look clearly the staff doesn’t want to pull an AJ Dillion part II. Let sing as a RB and let the pieces fall. Staff won’t make the same mistake twice.

Didn't they do that after telling Ezekiel Elliot he is a safety?

I could see a drop candidate possibly, with the potential of growing into a Julian Okwara body-type. Dude had plenty of room to put on good weight.

As the #2 RB, who’d you take?

Michael Drennen II
Tirek Murphy
Deamonte Trayanum
JuTahn McClain
Kyle Edwards
Cullen Coleman
Trey Benson

I’d probably like to see Murphy the most on that list and maybe JuTahn McClain. What do you think?

I think Cullen Coleman has to be considered a big skill guy, or a RB/LB flex position so there is still a possibility they sign a 2nd or potentially 3rd RB.

I like Coleman. If it doesn't work out there's defense and if Bartleson is on the roster, he could be switched back to RB where he stars in HS.

Murphy. That kid looks like a born RB, and like he wants to buy what Notre Dame’s selling. Take Coleman too, and once he’s on campus you gently persuade him there’s a longer, more fruitful career on the defensive side of the ball.

Maybe Cullen could become the next Devin White. RB turned into a top 5 NFL draft pick as an off the ball linebacker...

Inwould take murphy or Edward's. Murphy seems like a good fit and balance with three. Edward's doesnt get enough credit playing behind Ealy last year. . .but he will

This is where I'm at if Tyree goes elsewhere. Edwards & Murphy and I'm still going after Marcellus Moore as my Rocket-Back. If Henning is part of the class, that gives you yet another player with backfield functionality.

In this case, I skip Coleman's upside on D because Botelho is aboard.

Yeah it is all based on Tyree. Once that chip falls a few others would be clearer.

I'm a bit surprised not one person mentioned Michael Drennen II. He's a high academic, 4 star recruit and the runningback position group's Jimmy Christ. He just raked in his 35th offer from South Carolina and has now been offered by almost the entire SEC, the entire Big Ten, and has just about every major offer except Clemson and Oklahoma. Also, Bill Kurelic mentioned this a week ago...

"Drennen was back at Ohio State for the Buckeyes’ spring game. Ohio State and Notre Dame are perhaps the top two schools on his list right now."

Ohio State is going for the top of the top end talent at RB and that makes sense with Tony Alford. Just a guess at their board, but based off of visits this spring and what I've read I'd think it would be something like this...

.9939 5* Kendall Milton - visited a few weeks ago for a couple of days.
.9858 4* Bijan Robinson - visiting in the summer. has OSU CB's
.9742 4* Jalen Berger - visited yesterday
.9514 4* EJ Smith - visited OSU multiple times already
.9453 4* Seth McGowan - made his top 8. hard to know interest until visit
.9392 4* Sam Adams II - has visited. teammates with Gee Scott Jr.
.9307 4* Michael Drennen II - OSU/ND top two with OSU CB's
.8949 3* DeaMonte Trayanum - probably their next RB commit. All OSU
.8889 3* JuTahn McClain - OSU, UK, Mich, ND, PSU

I think what ends up happening is that one Ohio native ends up in the class and I think that's DeaMonte Trayanum who's committing probably soon (May/June) and then they'll get a top dog on their board like Kendall Milton or Bijan Robinson. NDCrusader has mentioned sometimes being in 2nd place for a kid isn't so bad like Ohio State and I think for Drennen, ND could do a lot worse at RB than a kid who's wanted by almost every relevant FBS school in the country.

I have no idea what his floor is, but I want a big back like him so bad. I'd take him over Tyreik, even though I think Tyreik is a safer play.

He's fast, and could be an absolute unit in short yardage.
