'20 KY TE Michael Mayer (Notre Dame Signee)

This guy seems like an animal so wherever the coaches put him it’ll be fun to watch. I think quickest path to the field would be TE but if he can blow some dudes up, I’m fine with watching that too.

While I agree if he's a Kmet type of talent, but if he's not, I'd be OK if he truly is a difference maker on D. While Mayer (247 #2) is a few slots higher than Bauman (#6), you never know how they will compare once they get on campus. While not taking a TE in 2019 probably means he sticks at TE regardless, both 2018 TEs RS'd (so just a year apart), and we have the #1 composite TE in 2021 (Berrong).

I love that we're finally showcasing a TE (Kmet). Wonder how long that will last lol.

Kid won MVP at the opening as a TE which I believe is pretty rare so I’d say keep him at TE

I’d say that I highly doubt that’s why. Since the numbers we’ve added over the last two classes and the amount of eligibility that most of those guys have, there was always an option this would happen.

If ND ran a 3-4, I'd be all about this LB talk but there are very few 4-3, 6-5 MIKE's for a reason.

From the looks of his athleticism and disdain for opposing offenses, I'm pretty sure he would be a great ROLB, the kind that made you hate playing Stanford the past decade.

But what IF he's just as good of a SHARK as he is a TE at the college level? Which way would you go then?

Mayer is like a Hockenson where Kmet is like a Kelce.

If his ball skills continue to be elite which is what we saw at The Opening Finals, then I think you have to play him at TE.

In another thread, I mentioned Marc Givler being my favorite OSU recruiting analyst. He recently went to Cincinnati La Salle's game against Michael's team and came away very impressed. He was there to report on/meet with 2021 DB Jaylon Johnson, but Mayer stole the show.

He says he wants to graduate with his class, which I'm pretty sure is code for "the Diocese of Covington does not approve of early graduation."

Mayer's decision to not EE was made a few weeks ago, so I doubt it, especially if the Diocese was involved like I think.

That is a tough depth chart. He's probably not competing with Wright for snaps but Kmet, Tremble and even Takacs are pass catching guys.

Idk about state title, but they will most likely make the Sweet 16 and play at Rupp Arena with Mayer on the court. At that point, anything can happen if the shots start falling.

Screw any sport that interferes with you early enrolling. Double screw any sport that combines the chance of severe ankle/knee injury with keeping you skinny and out of the weight room.
