Didn't get his fifth star, but was close

"... And how about those we debated long and hard about when it came to five-stars? Here are some we could regret.

TE Michael Mayer - Mayer will likely have a very good college career and beyond that become an NFL standout which is why I’ll be happy we have him so highly-ranked. But is he that freaky, elite athlete at the tight end position that warrants a fifth star? He falls just short."

That's a big jump (from 69 to 23).
I'm assuming he went from #3 TE to #1 along with the new 5 star rating.
Wonder if that brings his composite up to 5 star too.

Well, if we're basing it on just performance at ND, it'd be Eifert and not really close. Both played 3 years, Eifert had 140 rec., 1840 yards, and 11 TD's. While Rudolph had 90 rec., 1032 yards, and 8 TD's.

Why is it we have a record high of EE's but none are Mayer, Chris Tyree, or Jordan Johnson, SMH.

Idk if he was on that trip, but the kids on the bus were all okay. A couple went to the hospital to have minor injuries checked out.

The bus hit a car that was traveling the wrong way on a local highway... the guy driving the car died.

I'll go back to Ken McAfee.

247 gave him his fifth star. Does that mean he'll play better?

I really didn't think he'd contribute too much as a true freshman, but dude belongs on the field. Just imagine how unstoppable he'll be with a few years in the weight room.

I was pretty impressed with him today. Showed solid hands and that 3rd down play when he broke the tackle and got the first down was a huge play. Definitely looked "Gronk-ish." Tight End U!!!

McAfee and Teo are the two best players I ve seen play college football in a Notre Dame uniform as you have stated from Casper-Bavaro-Rudolph Effiert-Koyac-too many good ones to name them all-Myer will add his name to the list.

I bet the defenders don't find Baby Gronk very "cuddlefold" whenever he's running over their ass after he catches the ball and turns upfield!
