2) TOP FIVE ON LEMMING REPORT (He said offers but probable top 5)
Michigan
Georgia
Notre Dame
Penn State
Florida
(Illinois - didn’t mention them but I’m pretending they’re in 6th cause that’s his hometown squad with friends there plus Grandpa went there)
3) Has mentioned ND in almost every single recruiting video he’s been on in 2019. Unless I’m missing some videos with other sites he’s mentioned ND to Lemming, Wiltfong, Loy and countless others who’ve interviewed him in 2019.
4) 247 mentioned contact waned in mid March for a while and ISD countered that quickly saying he still keeps in touch a lot with the staff but just hadn’t confirmed a visit. Who knows what to believe
5) He’s been to campus probably 5-10 times in his lifetime and btw 4 times in a 6 month period in 2018 (3/3/18 & 4/21/18 & 6/23/18 & 9/1/18). Maybe he’d seen enough for a few months. It’s been 8 months since his last visit but it’s not like he’s completely forgotten about ND
6) 6 recruiting analysts believe he’ll pick ND. When Tom Loy, Kevin Sinclair, and Steve Wiltfong all vote in one direction for one kid then I’m pretty confident they’ll go there at that time. Remember these guys change their CB’s daily with different recruits so if they were sure that AJ wasn’t going to ND then they’d change it. Maybe they weren’t always 100% on their CB to ND but they’ve still not changed it to foggy or Illinois or an SEC factory.
7) Brian Kelly, Chip Long, Tom Rees, and Del Alexander teaming up on a recruit is a recipe for success. I have a lot of faith in that foursome between the HC, Coordinator, area recruiter and position coach that if they actually want him a lot then they’ll do really well in his recruitment.
8) He scheduled a visit for 1/28/19 but got snowed in so he cancelled. Henning has also visited very few schools outside of the local region before this spring, he rehabbed his injury, and prepped for the 2019 Outdoor Track Season that’s going on now.
I think overall I feel pretty solid about Henning eventually ending up at ND. In case people forget, Braiden McGregor took a weeklong trip down south to a bunch of football factories and people didn’t say a peep about attention-seeking and headline grabbing and when Henning goes on a 5 day trip down south coupled with the 50/50 report on if he’s communicating with the staff then the IE board gets extremely dreary and down about Henning. I think the kid had a ton of national offers and wanted to see what was out there which is totally his right and then eventually he’ll decide what’s right for him. I think the positives outweigh the negatives in his recruitment and I think the visits (4 in 2018), the staff recruiting him, Jordan Johnson/Drew Pyne recruiting him, the proximity to home, and the academics will come into play and push him towards ND. First order of business is getting him on campus because the 8 months without a visit would be the biggest negative for me. If he doesn’t show up to campus before the June 21st weekend and start of the month long dead period then I’d start to question whether he’ll be in ND’s class or not.
