In case people forget, Braiden McGregor took a weeklong trip down south to a bunch of football factories and people didn’t say a peep about attention-seeking and headline grabbing and when Henning goes on a 5 day trip down south coupled with the 50/50 report on if he’s communicating with the staff then the IE board gets extremely dreary and down about Henning.

You should know that's how this board rolls, but you do bring some valid points to the discussion.

I will agree he’s added more fluff to his recruitment on social media and publicity than a Rylie Mills and Braiden McGregor but it’s a ridiculously hypocritical stance to bang on Henning for checking out SEC football factories when McGregor, Mills, and countless others have taken trips to schools outside of IE’s comfort zone. Not a lot of recruiting battles between ND, Vanderbilt, Duke, Northwestern, and Stanford. It’s a good thing ND aid recruiting athletes who are getting attention from SEC and ACC schools. Just an example of that is Tosh Baker has 31 offers, Carmody 30 offers, and Zinter 24 FBS offers and they’re being recruited by schools all around the country but that’s a great thing and if Carmody says he’s going to go visit LSU, Bama, and Clemson then it would suck cause people would be nervous but it’s totally awesome to do those trips as a recruit. The guys that get me nervous are the Alexander Ehrensberger’s of the world who chose ND over FIU and Old Dominion (unless he quietly was offered by more schools). Jack Kiser I remain skeptical about because of him being recruited by virtually no big time schools. Point is this is the type of recruiting battles that ND is going to have to see and go through to land top tier talent. In fact you might see decommitments rise because of the competition for these recruits. I’m not saying I want that and I think ND has done a good job recently of taking the right dudes when they’re ready, but I’m also realistic in that a guy like Jordan Botelho is going to continue getting weekly calls from UCLA, USC, Oregon, Washington and all of the closer to home big time programs.

I totally get it, but this site is never going to change. Go back and review Tillary's thread. ND was the assumed leader but he kept visiting LSU almost every weekend and most of the pics posted in SM he wore LSU gear. I was one of the few that kept preaching he was still Irish. As I said, you make some good points about Henning.

Visiting Michigan unofficially this weekend (5/11/19). Need him to come in June.

At this point, I'm not sure he's a 2 page prospect... let not a 7 pager.

His 100m times are off .4 seconds since his freshman year. HJe just broke 11 seconds for the first time here a few weeks ago.

So you think he's overrated at this point? I'm not implying anything, just curious on your take NDC. You think there are better prospects we are after?

the below crusader post is from november, just fyi

...and he's wearing OSU gear on the National Broadcasting Company.

To be honest, Henning's got a lot of proving to do. His production to hype ratio is as low as anyone ever and the closest physical pkg and track star chops you can compare him to is D Neal (though Neal had 1000+ both rush & rec and no injury history playing against like competition). Henning hasn't done much of anything since a hip injury/surgery last winter. Didn't play in the state semi's last weekend which they lost to Loyola.

Maybe worst of all is some rumors of attitude/entitlement issues. While the great ones all know they're great, most know how to handle themselves and back it up on the field with production.

There's more which will come out at some point that may have caused some friction. I'll let that come out on it's own because I've heard 2.5 versions of the story and I don't know what's exactly true. I don't think what's said is bad but the fact that it was shared on social media may have not set well with a certain employee of ND.

So before we grieve the trending away or potential loss of Mr. Henning, let's see if he's still worthy of the grieving process.

He has till December or even Feb if he wants too. And it’s May 9th and you guys are upset he hasn’t committed yet and act like he owes something to ND? He doesn’t know where he wants to go yet. Sure he loves the recruiting process a lot of kids with his offer list does. He doesn’t owe ND a damn thing and the frustration is ridiculous. He isn’t jerking ND around and saying stuff. Most believe he ends the game and commits to ND. Rather have him do it when he’s ready instead of committing to us and then taking visits.

Mixed reports on that.

Everyone is talking about how long it’s been since he has visited, but how long has it been since ND coaches have visited him? They’ve been out on the trail for awhile now and he’s not too far away. I feel like that is just as telling as anything else. Will be interesting to see how this plays out and what further details come out on the recruitment of him with ND.

Did they back off on Hennings about the time when Tyree starting looking promising? Similar players.

If both want to commit you have to take both correct?

From a positiion standpoint, yeah, he's a hybrid, right?

But imo, it really depends on the cost analysis. On the one hand, speed kills and you can't have enough. On the other hand, (again, just speculation about the enormous prima donna ego but plenty of smoke) live by the sword, die by the sword.

Crus likes to talk about Neal with the comparison. But what comes to my mind is Urban Meyer and Percy Harvin at UF. Not as a talent comparison, but as a locker room meltdown & divide over ego & preferential treatment one. Open secret at UF Harvin straight told Meyer to f himself in front of other players over Urb trying to discipline for goofing in practice. Meyer did nothing. Was only a matter of time before Meyer lost all semblance of control and his heart couldn't take it lol.

How big is the kids ego? vs Is he a difference-maker we need to not just compete but win at the highest levels?

Wiltfong flipped his CB to undecided. Gotta say I am over this guy. I think ND should move on. There has to be another receiver they can snatch up. Johnson Redding and McMillan would be nice.

If they don’t get him on campus by June 21st (beginning of dead period right after that) then I’d move on. Doesn’t look like ND’s getting kids on campus in May anyway and no players are on campus until June so I think they’ve still got several weeks to entice him to make the short drive after track season but time is running out and who knows. He constantly mentions ND but at this point actions are starting to speak louder than words. I’m still sticking to the hope of the fact he’s been to ND like 5-10 times and 4 times in 6 months in 2018 and maybe just needed a break from ND.

I really don't care one way or the other right now because he's not the freshman running 10.6's anymore. He's the kid going into his Sr year barely breaking 11 seconds after serious hip surgery and with his limited production, I can't be sure he's special without real track speed.

Exactly this.
