I will agree he’s added more fluff to his recruitment on social media and publicity than a Rylie Mills and Braiden McGregor but it’s a ridiculously hypocritical stance to bang on Henning for checking out SEC football factories when McGregor, Mills, and countless others have taken trips to schools outside of IE’s comfort zone. Not a lot of recruiting battles between ND, Vanderbilt, Duke, Northwestern, and Stanford. It’s a good thing ND aid recruiting athletes who are getting attention from SEC and ACC schools. Just an example of that is Tosh Baker has 31 offers, Carmody 30 offers, and Zinter 24 FBS offers and they’re being recruited by schools all around the country but that’s a great thing and if Carmody says he’s going to go visit LSU, Bama, and Clemson then it would suck cause people would be nervous but it’s totally awesome to do those trips as a recruit. The guys that get me nervous are the Alexander Ehrensberger’s of the world who chose ND over FIU and Old Dominion (unless he quietly was offered by more schools). Jack Kiser I remain skeptical about because of him being recruited by virtually no big time schools. Point is this is the type of recruiting battles that ND is going to have to see and go through to land top tier talent. In fact you might see decommitments rise because of the competition for these recruits. I’m not saying I want that and I think ND has done a good job recently of taking the right dudes when they’re ready, but I’m also realistic in that a guy like Jordan Botelho is going to continue getting weekly calls from UCLA, USC, Oregon, Washington and all of the closer to home big time programs.
