I've got a feeling this will be entertaining if nothing else. What does Tommy Rees call with an OL that can't block and a QB that isn't fleet of foot or tall enough to see over his line.

I told my buddy on Sunday after we had time to cool off that in a weird way I’m more excited for the rest of the season now than I was prior to Marshall. I was always more apprehensive, especially after the OSU game. I’m not saying I’m glad that we’re 0-2, but with my lowered expectations it’s going to allow me to enjoy the wins and the growth in the process, I suppose.

I am not sure how this will end up playing out. But Drew is getting an opportunity to be the staring QB at ND. He may have a chip on his shoulder and play well. Or he may be over his head.

I get it, but it seems strange to have 3 months of "meaningless" football considering this is the first time since 2016 we aren't in contention for the playoffs before the calendar turns to October. Just feels empty

Mostly just a coping mechanism, tbh. Gotta try and frame it positively.

I agree 100% with this. It's almost like all of the anxiety I build up before one of our really good/not great seasons has completely evaporated. Now I just want guys to get playing time and see what we have for next year. I'll be even more excited if Angeli gets some burn in the next few games. They really need to start prepping him as he may be our QB of the future, at least until someone can displace him.

And lets see what Pyne can do when given the starting nod, maybe he can galvanize.

I've got a feeling he is a winner
That's what I'm going with. I've joked a bit about Pyne as the future, but he does have some moxy and managed to produce some offense last year when the OL was still bad. He's been averaging a score every 2nd possession in the 3 games he's played in, and usually a TD. He doesn't have TB's wheels, but he may not need them. Whether it's Pyne or Angeli going forward I'll support either, just find a way to win.

He looked as lost as ND's Offense when he played Saturday. I'm rooting for the kid but I just don't see this ending well. Whole lot of pressure trying to turn around an 0-2 team that has major problems on the offensive side of the ball.

I always come back to this question . . . "Why does it take ND so long to develop QB's?" I see no reason why Angeli could not be prepared by this time to play a relatively soft schedule for most of the season, take his licks and learn in an already lost year. Lost in regards to National Championship aspirations.

Better to go 7-5 with Angeli learning and ready for 2023 than 7-5 with Pyne who will take us no where next year.

Not every freshman QB can be a phenom like Trevor Lawrence. He had a lot more talent around him too. Even Brady Quinn struggled as a Sophomore. I'm all for playing the youth at this point if the season is lost. I've said since last season that Lenzy should probably sit in favor of Styles and Colzie getting more reps. There's a good chance we'll be playing more Freshmen and a few Sophomores like Merriweather next year too. Better get as many reps as we can with the guys that'll be available in 2023, find out what talent we really have.

I'm doing what they did with Book when he would get all out of whack. I think you start under center Pyne. Which could help both him and the ground game. Traditional play action from there. I'd also like to see them work out of the pistol. That too gets Estime running down hill. I think from the Pistol you can also work some quick passing game stuff for Pyne. Slants, screens, etc. Lastly, I'd like to see them run more outside zone with Tyree. Even if some don't work, I would keep trying because all Tyree needs is one crease and it's points.

Pyne has to be good at something with that Stache… Hopefully it’s football instead of whatever else he could be good at…🤔

Better to watch the Cinci and Wisky games from last year. Those are at least 1s vs 1s.
I'll do that tonight. I just figured the BG game was the latest and an off-season later or developing physically and as a QB.

He threw 3 bad picks in the first half.

If Pyne is on because he’s a “gamer” his ceiling is the Wisconsin game. If he’s off his floor is Angeli will be the starter very soon. It’s sounded like for years now he consistently throws INTs in practice, which is what we saw Saturday.

I wasnt even that impressed with the Wiscy game. If you go watch those passes individually its all floaters and stare downs. Wiscy was playing way too conservative.
