Honestly I don’t know why anyone doesn’t have this mind set yearly. These are still kids. They aren’t professionals and they have school to perform well in as well. Cheer cheer for old Notre Dame!
I only get 12 of these a year, guaranteed. Why would I (or anyone) want to frame each of those in a negative or pessimistic way?

God damn it he’s easy to root for and now I’m going to have mentally invest in Drew Pyne playing winning football.

I was flat amazed that Pyne didn't throw a pick or 3. Play calling was decent all things considered. It was nice to think that Rees stepped it up a bit. That said, they NEED to get some WR involvement going forward.
I agree with all of this, ND needs a WR to step up. I know Avery Davis is missed, but they have the talent at WR, and I'd like to see a WR or 2 get vocal or show some swag.

We really don't though. It's Styles, an injured Colzie, and apparently a very green Merriweather. So, we've got 1 talented guy right now.

Had to miss most of the game because of PeeWee games my kids were in, but it looks like the boys torched that awful UNC defense. Hopefully they continue to grow and gain confidence, feeling a lot better about the season. Looks like it only took Harry about 10 quarters to fix the OL this year instead of the 24 it took Quinn last year, knock on wood. That's made a big difference for the rest of the offense's execution.

Since “do your fucking job” Drew Pyne has been torching people lol
Twenty years from now when Tommy Rees is the next Jon Gordon, we’re going to remember the moment that springboarded his motivational speaking career.

Missing games to be Dad always acceptable. Missing games for some one else’s wedding always unacceptable.

If Pyne keeps playing like he currently is, presumably he wont leave after the season is over.

It wouldnt surprise me if Tommy and Freeman decide to roll forward next year with Buchner and Pyne... although I think that would be a mistake.

And then in the ninth game, we lose to Boston College and Five-Star Phil on Senior Day? Legendary indeed.
I know it's BC, and I've still got PTSD from the '93 game as an 11 year old kid attending his first game, but if we lose to this BC team that would probably be worse than the Marshall loss. The Eagles are 1-3 right now with their lone win being against Maine. They got absolutely destroyed by VT and FSU, barely escaping Rutgers. I know we don't always play well in revenge games, but damn...losing to BC this year would be a horrible way to end the regular season.

Unless he's graduating early I think he sticks. He's grown up an ND fan, idolized Brady Quinn. The coaches were having to kick him out of the office during Cal week because he wouldn't stop watching film. He's dedicated. I could see him still leaving after graduation though if he's #2 on the depth chart. By that point he will have lived his dream and gotten to be a starter, hopefully proven himself as a decent player. He'd probably have people in his ear that he can still start for another program and maybe become a late pick or UDFA.

If he’s #2 on the depth chart after he gets his degree, he should leave. He would have already fulfilled his commitment to himself and the university.

Pretty obvious we should bring in a transfer and tell those two they are going to compete for the job. One might leave but we can't stay pat with what we've got, no one is good enough.

I don't think either Pyne or Buchner will leave without a degree. but who the hell knows these days.

One thing that is certain there will be dozens of QB's in the portal, many of whom are good enough to start at a lot of schools.

2 Qb systems rarely work well.

Oh God I was at that game too. (I was 14). Then I went home, to Boston, and had to hear about it from all the BC fan wannabes at school, forever.
I have hated that school and its shitty little football program ever since. I hope they go 1-10, with their lone win being Maine.
