so, what do we think? obviously mega fast, good size. but are the long strides a legitimate cause for real concern for him as a DB prospect? is he coming in as an ATH ala Wilkins?
I do think it's a concern but IMO you get that speed on the roster and find a way to use it later but as a DB especially as a CB prospect it is a worry.

If kids don’t have a rock hard young bod and 5 stars next to his name, Koon’s pickle don’t tickle.

Can we switch to a 3-4 and put Mayer at ROLB too? He should've gone to Stanford.

That's where he'll be when Lea goes to their three-man front in pass-rush situations... he'll be rushing opposite Botelho.

I can see the hesitation on bringing him in as a DB. He displays very little technique (didn't see one backpedal and very little use of hands) and solely relies on this athleticism. I'd be much more excited if he was a receiver prospect. But at the end of the day speed kills and he has it, so the coaches better be ready to put in the work to improve his technique.

Gonna have to hope that the next CB coach is a big time teacher at the position along with the recruiting aspect.

.9484 4* RS SR Shaun Crawford
.8843 3* JR Tariq Bracy
.9171 4* RS FR Isaiah Rutherford
.9017 4* RS FR KJ Wallace
.8710 3* RS FR Cam Hart
.8776 3* FR Caleb Offord
.8734 3* FR Landen Bartleson
.8647 3* FR Clarence Lewis

I think one of the freshman will start out at safety especially if Ramon Henderson comes in but I have no idea who it’ll be. Looks like they’ll have the numbers at CB but not too sure about Safety. Gonna need hopefully all the redshirt freshman to take a big step in their offseason and hopefully in bowl prep.

Technique can be taught.

But you cannot change a running stride. WRs, even TEs will get separation from this guy at ease. This is my hardest pass of the class.

To each his own, in watching the tape it was pretty easy for him to get to his top speed, so I disagree with that assessment that wr's and te's will get easy separation. Let me ask, do you think he'd get separation as a receiver? If yes, then that proves my point.

I agree though that separation will occur because of his lack of technique. Getting to him that point is going to take a lot of effort by the defensive coaches. We'll see

If he runs a straight line, maybe. If he has to run a route, no. He has no suddenness in his change of direction.

Why do you say that?

You'll get a much better idea of Henderson's capacity to maintain speed while shortening his stride by watching drills than from high school tape where he can just outrun everyone else. Nobody is mirroring footwork at their maximum speed.

Going to trust the staff on this one.Fuller and Stepherson had similar tape and were highly coveted by the coaches. They know how to project better than anyone on here.

Out of curiosity, which current staffers were around during Fuller's HS days?

The only one that matters: Brian Kelly

Dude knows how to evaluate WR's, and spot a diamonds-in-the-rough at WR, better than any coach in America.

BK and Denbrock evaluating and developing WRs. That was a combo

That’s fine, we get it. But don’t bombard his thread with “Hoping for UCLA” “come on UCLA”. There a difference between having questions about a player and being a dick, you are being the latter.

BK recently told us that they are looking for speed regardless of previous position. Ramon has that in spades. At some point he'll be a 6'2+ 200 lb. WR or S with sub 4.5 speed. CJ Prosise was recruited at S, then moved to WR, then moved to RB, and in that same year became a 3rd round draft pick. Who cares where he plays currently and who cares where he plays when at ND. I'm sure the staff will figure it out for the betterment of the program. And, if at the end of the day he doesn't end up being a productive position player, who cares. That's why we have 85 scholarship players. The reality is some guys have to be scholarships 50-85. I could think of a lot worse prospects to have at those positions than a guy who has ran a real timed 10.59 100.

And for those worried about his explosiveness or quickness, a significant part of a 100 M race is the start. I highly doubt this kid is running a faster 100M than Braden Lenzy with a terrible start because he can't close his stride when needed. Lenzy's best 100 in HS was 10.62.

I think it has to do with people being down on Bartleson and Lewis as DB's, which I completely disagree with I and think both those guys will be good for us, and not seeing Henderson as someone better than them.

I don't have questions, I'm fairly certain he will not play DB well at this level.

But you're right - I shouldn't be publicly cheering on UCLA for him. My bad.
