Who is Matt Pannell?
And considering ND was: 1) Cam's biggest offer, by far & 2) Gave him lots of opportunities to produce... it's crazy to me that he doesn't think he got a "fair shot." If anything, he got more utilization than someone in his shoes normally would because he was liked by the coaches.
Consider that Cam wasn't even an UDFA caliber RB and we gave him 2x the carries of any other back in '13 despite a significantly lower YP than Folston/Atkinson. Then in '14 he had a woeful 3.6 YPC while Folston/Bryant both 5+ YPC... and we STILL gave him near 90 touches to Bryant's 60. Every school splits carries these days. The LEAD back for Bama had only 22% of the carries this year (total carries, including Hurts). In McDaniel's last year, he had 25% of the RB carries.
So either this Pannell guy is an idiot, or they have a warped sense of how McDaniel's career at ND went. By all accounts - industry and otherwise - it surpassed expectations.

I assumed this guy was just some random dude, but after looking at his twitter feed a little bit, it's fairly obvious that he has some kind of connection to Cam or the family.
If his thoughts represent the family's thoughts, then we probably don't have any shot at TJ even if we offered.

cam was into selling advocare and this douche nozzle is or was also affiliated with that so maybe that's how...i see he is following a couple ND players/people and vice versa
Waiting on the ND staff to offer like

Is that him waiting... or you waiting?
I feel like this is in the same ballpark as not offering Justin Tranquill.
Still think that kid would have balled out at ND.
At least the staff had 2 torn ACL's to blame for not offering Tranq the Younger
Is that a IIIPA from Fort Wayne Brewing? Never had it but Tranq the Elder is one of my fav's.
His decision has come down to what he thinks is the best situation for him as much as it did what he learned from the experience of his older brothers. Where many prospects say they embrace the spirit of competing for a feature role in a big team’s offense, McDaniel has seen enough how things can actually play out once camp starts and is looking for a more authentic opportunity with the right program.
“I’ve seen two of my brothers kind of be an insurance policy for football teams,” he said. “My oldest brother [Cam McDaniel] was Built Ford Tough Player of the Year, went to Notre Dame and wasn’t used much. He went to the CFL, tried to get film and couldn’t get that there, now he’s just living life.
“My middle brother [Gavin McDaniel] goes to Azusa Pacific and he’s finishing out his senior year there. But I’ve seen both kind of become insurance policies and if a school really wants me after the year, I have to know the same thing isn’t going to happen to me.”
