You act like Tennessee is on some obvious uptick as compared to UF. Let's compare the last two years.
Tennessee's recent history
- In 2013, UT went 5-7 overall and 2-6 in the SEC and in sixth place in the SEC Eastern Division. Lost to UF 17-31. 26th best recruiting class according to 247.
- In 2014, UT went 7-6 overall and 3-5 in the SEC and in fourth place in the SEC Eastern Division. Lost to UF 9-10. 7th best recruiting class.
UF's recent history
- In 2013, UF went 4-8 overall and 3-5 in the SEC and in fifth place in the SEC Eastern Division. 3rd best recruiting class according to 247.
- In 2014, UF went 7-5 overall and 4-4 in the SEC and in third place in the SEC Eastern Division. 10th best recruiting class.
Based on the above, both have had similar overall records with UF doing better against similar competition and head-to-head. UF recruited better in 2013 and both were relatively similar last year. If anything, UF's better 2013 recruiting would suggest they're more improved this years with those players having a year under their belts. The main difference is that UT has had the same coach while UF has a new coach. Overall, the past two years suggest UF is a better program and still ahead of UT.
Also, don't forget that the losses UF had in 2013 at the end of the season were very similar to ND's last year. UF had a ton of injuries in 2013, which ultimately did them in.
