A few weeks ago this dude’s top 3 best offers are probably Duke, UNC, West Virginia and now he has a top 3 of Clemson, Notre Dame, and Ohio State per Anna Hickey

FWIW, ND has huge inroads at Malvern. A lot of our lacrosse team historically has been from there. Great school with a lot of smart kids who fit at ND.

Freebie from SC website.

Was expecting something more lean-worthy like whatever he told Anna H.

Clemson has good shot at Pennsylvania LB
MARCH 9, 2018 BY PHIL KORNBLUT

One of the top linebackers in the Northeast for the 2018 season will be Keith Maguire (6-2 215) of Malvern, PA. His offer list includes Clemson, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Alabama, Baylor, West Virginia, Boston College, Maryland and Northwestern. He’s checking out some of those schools and was at Clemson last Friday and Saturday.

“It was great. It’s a special place down there. I’m definitely looking forward to getting back down there,” Maguire said. “I think the school was beautiful and the facilities were top notch. It’s somewhere I’m going to be looking more into. “Coach Swinney was talking about how he was glad to have me down for the weekend and just a normal conversation. The football conversation was more with Coach Venables. They weren’t really specific on an exact position but they have offered me for linebacker. They are excited to continue the process.”

While in for the junior day last Saturday Maguire got a look at the Clemson defense in action during a spring practice with a focus on the linebackers.

“I definitely think I could be a good fit there,” he said. “I like the coaches and their philosophy and the players there. It definitely could be a spot where I could fit in and play to the best of my ability.”

Maguire also has visited Notre Dame and Northwestern. He will visit Ohio State in a couple of weeks and also plans visits to Alabama and North Carolina. He’s not sure on a decision timetable. The process could run all the way thru his official visits or he could pop a commitment when the feeling hits him. The Clemson visit did him thinking about that.

“When I was down at Clemson it was definitely a great experience,” he said. “That might be the place but I’m certainly going to have to get more acclimated to the place, talk to the coaches more and possibly get my dad down there. My mom was there this weekend but my dad wasn’t able to get down. I would really like to get him down to see what he thinks and talk to my family more. I think they are definitely going to be in my top five. As I go and visit more places I’ll be able to know more, what’s a leader, what two schools are leaders, something like that.”

Last season Maguire totaled 150 tackles with 5 sacks and 3 interceptions at middle linebacker.

Mrs. Maguire is a smoke. Definitely was my favorite recess chaperone in grade school.

You can't make a statement like that and not back it up with pics.

Wondering why you didn't see Maguire's Opening Test scores?

6-1.5/210

40 = 4.91
Sht = 4.37
PB = 37.5'
Vrt = 32.3

Tot = 90.57

Dead to me. Unubscribed.

Yikes.... How does he have an offer list like that if he's so slow? Remember, Manti ran a 4.82, and that was presumably after months of training to get to that point. You can be a great ILB in college without being a blazer. It certainly helps though

Ehh, it doesn’t really change my opinion of him. This one has been interesting as ND fans didn’t really want him, until other “elite” programs did. It was only once they offered and pursued, was he tabbed a must get.

I still think he’s a good prospect but as I’ve said all along, I’ll take any combination of the LB’a we are recruiting. They’re all pretty good.

11 LBers at ND who will still have eligibility in 2019. On top of that, you could see a Jordan Genmark Heath or Derrick Allen move to LBer in the future (not at all saying that should happen, but could if dominoes fall certain ways). I would say TE, LB, and QB are probably the lowest needed position groups in this cycle. Obviously you always want to bring in excellent talent, but ND doesn't need 4-5 LBers this cycle or a complete overhaul of their talent like DE or DBs last cycle.

Tier 1
Brandon Smith
Cade Stover
Osita Ekwonu

Tier 2
Lance Dixon
Daniel Heimuli
Nick Henrich
Ralen Goforth - 92.97
Kalen DeLoach - 86.64
Joshua Calvert
Keith Maguire Jr. - 90.57
Tristan Sinclair - 128.13
Spencer Lytle

Luckily ND sits in a great position with Osita Ekwonu and hopefully they can close on him before he wants to take too many more visits to other schools as that only increases the chances he gets blown away by some other place, but Lea is doing a great job there. Cade Stover & Brandon Smith are both long shots, but they have both raved about ND and Lea, and if there's any list cutting for them I really think ND will be in those final 5s or in it until the end and you never know. Then with Tier 2 I just listed all of the bottom offered prospects at the LBer position and there are a bunch of high 3*, low 4* guys who all bring a lot of different things to the table. Tristan Sinclair has a ridiculous Opening test score which is exciting, but oddly doesn't have many offers to show for it. Keith Maguire, on the other hand, tested like an offensive lineman which doesn't match up with his superstar offer list. I really like Nick Henrich, Kalen Deloach (just invited to Opening Finals), and Ralen Goforth. I don't really know what to think of Keith Maguire other than the fact that he's been offered and is wanted by a ton of top programs which must mean he's really good. All in all, ND is in great shape at the LBer position and hopefully they can start it off with some good news from Osita Ekwonu sooner rather than later.

The finalists include Notre Dame, Ohio State, Clemson, Alabama and North Carolina.

"Once I make my decision, I'll be done," said Maguire. "I'll be 100-percent committed to that school."

Regarding the Fighting Irish, Maguire is keeping a close eye on that program and has been interested in them for quite some time. He even took the time to watch some of this past weekend's Blue-Gold spring game in South Bend.

"I think coach Lea is doing a great job in his first year," said Maguire. "Everything was running smoothly. They have a great senior linebacker core. You can tell they trust coach Lea as a coach and I thought they looked great during the spring game."

Barton Simmons put in a CB for Clemson. Also, how many LBers are we taking? If it’s 2 then do you think MaGuire is in the top 2 at that position? I’d see Henrich, Ekwonu, and then best available (Brandon Smith/Cade Stover) being the move but MaGuire would be a nice addition.

I already passed. Too slow.

Hopefully ND passed too. Too many faster LB's ND's in play for and they will get a better recruit to package with Ekwonu.
