Great young man and representative of the University. Wish him well.

But, this is one that is expected. Small sample size but clearly not the best C we have on the roster. Unlike DE and WR, it's a position that does not rotate. Developing a backup C should not be that difficult.

A lot of 5/6th year guys from the BK era who won a lot of games & played a lot of snaps, who were good leaders & dependable, all leaving.

Those are guys you love to have on your roster next year.

While I agree, it’s hard to make that argument for this guy.

His efforts are appreciated, but he simply was just not good.

Haha just comical at this point.
I wish Zeke well. He got his degree and I’m sure was a good teammate. Can’t ask anything more from him.

That said, he wasn’t good enough to start next season if he returned. It’s for the best for both parties.

Thank goodness, never understood how he got a single minute of PT over multiple other guys.

On a sidenote, when Patterson was healthy in 2021, media, fans & sites, questioned iBK if he thought Patterson should be moved to OT or G so Correll could play Center to get your best 5 on the field.
BK answered, “No, you don’t move an All American Center away from Center.”

Some of the media got butthurt because they thought BK was talking down to them.

ND was 11-1, despite having the 3 different LTs before settling on Freshman Alt. Patterson a stud at Center.

Following year Freeman moves Patterson to G & Correll starts at Center & the OL was a trainwreck despite bringing back Patterson, Correll, Alt & Fisher.

Now media & fans are pissed Correll played Center as long as he did.

Maybe BK knew what he was doing after all?

Another good rep for the university.

We are going to need some young guys to step up and be leaders.

It's obvious you have a bone to pick with Freeman and it makes you come off worse by the day. The transfer portal is not even recognizable to what it was two years ago. Insinuating it's poor roster management when it's literally just how the sport is nowadays. Hope you parse over every single LSU transfer next month and bend over backwards to blame them all on Kelly.

Would still like to have him on the roster.

Shit goes wrong at Center, wouldn’t it be nice to at least have a guy you could bring in you could count on (to not cost you the game)?

Sure, but I don’t think that would make much sense for Correll and his interests. Behind closed doors, I would assume it was made clear that he wouldn’t be the starter going into the 2024 season. I don’t blame him for wanting to start somewhere else, with a Notre Dame degree(s) in hand.

"He simply was just not good." (n) This is "just" crappy wording.
Correll was a "good" college center, and not "good enough" to outplay NFL quality DTs.
He probably would have started for most NCAA upper division teams, and they would have welcomed him.
We, unfortunately, play several programs who recruit big time DTs (OSU, USC, Clemson, and some others
get one now and then by good luck.)

... Can't we occasionally show some generosity towards our players? It's not as if Zeke was a loafer or a bum.

You know, I wake up every morning wondering how I come off to fightingirish26…

I don’t give two shits how you view me.

I was on the Freeman bandwagon to start.
Now I have criticisms. I also give credit (which you obviously ignore).

I also don’t care what LSU does in the portal, I’m a ND fan.

As for the portal, I don’t care if certain players leave, but I like to have guys in my roster who have played a lot of snaps, in big games, including CFP game, won a lot, who are healthy, dependable, & good leaders.
Tyree, Nana & Zeke meet that criteria.

Maybe it’s as simple as him not wanting to be a backup after starting for 3 years? Who would? The guys that are leaving, so far, are guys that would see their playing time decrease next year. Nobody’s gonna stick around on the bench if they can start/play more somewhere else.

Looking at it from his perspective, I still don’t get it.

Go somewhere to play more, probably in meaningless games, not going pro, not working on a real degree, leaving all your friends & legacy.
I would come back, be a great teammate, be ready to go because I might be needed, be part of huge games on the national stage, be with my friends, continue degrees at ND, finish at ND.

No, not really. He looked like he had ice skates on, in multiple occasions. He wasn’t just getting beat on the LOS, he would get his ass beat.

Priester mentioned this on the podcast that the book was out on Zeke that if you put a big nose on him, you could overpower him.

Unfortunately, he can't do much about his size.

Good luck Zeke.

Count on to get beat on a regular basis? I appreciate his dedication and effort but he shouldn’t have been starting this year.

I mean, this was fairly obvious to anyone with a television. No knock on Zeke, who did his best, but we need to improve on the interior OL, and that probably doesn't include him.

I don’t think all of those other college kids think they’re playing in meaningless games.

Probably, but I would still want him on the roster.
Tell him to come back for open competition in the spring.

What if Craig freaks out in front of 105,000 rowdy fans? Or gets hurt anytime during the season, or last game at USC with CFP spot on the line & goes down?
Wouldn’t it be nice to bring in a 3 year starter who started a CFP game & NY6 game who won’t get rattled?

I want experienced players as backups, not freshmen.
Doesn't change the fact that Correll is too small and gets consistently worked by better DT's, which they'll be facing in College Station most likely.

ND's OL was a trainwreck in the 1st several games of 2021 and it wasn't simply due to the injury issues at LT. BK and staff thought it was a great idea to bring in Cain Madden and start him for the full season. BK did not have the OL prepared to start the season. The whole OL sucked at the beginning of the year including Patterson. They finished 11-1 primarily due to the schedule. It certainly wasn't due to the OL.

So ND can’t have both?
Faison blows his ACL in spring, then what?
This is a two way street. I have no idea on any communication that is going on behind the scenes, but if a guy wants to know if he has a starting spot or not and it's unclear, I would rather the staff say that. It's up to the player to decide next steps. I want Zeke to stay, but if he wants a starting spot, you should honor what's best for him and his wishes.

He’s been at ND for five years. He has a degree or even multiple degrees. Sometimes it’s in everyone’s best interest to move on as he wants to guaranteed playing time and we have younger guys who have higher ceiling.

Tyree on the other hand…

Posting this in the zeke thread has no merit… Tyree yes

Zeke has been a disaster at center and guard for 3 years

Wish him well, he played his heart out but just wasn’t good enough
