As a DT, I guess I can see what they are saying but he sure looks like at the very least, an SDE right now.

Hopefully it’s good news about Johnson’s visit saying he’s a take, we have room, his books are in order (Come on Joseph Anderson) and we get him to commit.

In one tweet Loy calls him a DT, but in the next tweet he calls him a DE... Is the ND staff shifting and looking at him as a SDE now? Or was that a typo?

This guy has 6’3”-6’4” 300-315 written all over him. I don’t see a SDE move for him but maybe he’s agile enough to be a run defender and pass rusher on the edge. Pretty sure it was a typo.

Bingo. It's been reported (quietly, I think) that ND is *done* recruiting DT's, as they see Spears and Lacy as filling their need. Continued pursuit of Johnson means they think he can stick on the outside.

I wonder how much of that is because he's got true upside as a pure SDE, and how much is because of the way DE recruiting is going thus far.

I think he has the athleticism to do it. I remember reading a few pieces on him last year, prolly from Bill Greene when he was with Scout, that Johnson's best position may be guard when he fill out because of how well he moved/pulled.

I'm glad ND scaled back on the DT' this class. They were obviously in good with quite a few but to land Lacey and say Briggs wouldn't be ideal as both are vertically challenged.

Getting SDE's that can slide inside as they mature and graduate Balis U makes more sense. If Anderson makes it into this class, I'll all but guarantee that's his future. They've really started to target length at SDE. If Devin O'Rourke was in this class, I bet he'd have been offered.

If it's 2 DT's only, they'll take at least 4 DE's. That'd be my guess.

I'm liking Duke Olges more and more. Just like Miamen, he's a solid 2 way DE/Flex. S

Devin O'Rourke was a miss from the get-go. Player of the year in Illinois with a love for ND, a 4 star on every recruiting service website, and great academic offers from around the country, and this was nothing more than a miss on a talented 6'6'' long-armed Defensive End. But they'll make up for it this year hopefully!
