Yep. He's gonna want to go somewhere he's guaranteed to start, and if Pyne can sustain this level of performance, that's not here. Gotta find a guy that's willing to compete. While I don’t think Pyne’s stellar performance should preclude a transfer period, I think it could diminish the need for a transfer like Cade specifically.

Buchner’s going to be wearing UCLA blue before it’s all over.Does Buchner stay is another question. He’s guy that needs two years at a place out of the power 5 just to get reps and work on things at this point and maybe graduate transfer to a power 5 later. If no 2023 is available and TB leaves we need somebody just for depth at least.
Bet you all the vbucks he transfers to BCDoes Buchner stay is another question. QB grad transfers don’t transfer to compete. Have a hard time seeing it unless Pyne falls apart.I believe Cade could be a better QB than Pyne. Sign him up.
We’ll see how it goes but if a guy is clearly so much better than Pyne/Buchner that we’ll just hand him the job over both of them, he probably doesn’t need to transfer in the first place.QB grad transfers don’t transfer to compete. Have a hard time seeing it unless Pyne falls apart.
Was it high or low? I would think low but I can also think of a ton of high level successes Ewers, Fields, Jack Coan, Hurts, Dart, Penix, HookerI think Pete Sampson had a piece within the last month about the success rate of QB transfers.
It was a good, interesting read.
I honestly don’t remember all that much about it but I think the success rate is really low.Was it high or low? I would think low but I can also think of a ton of high level successes Ewers, Fields, Jack Coan, Hurts, Dart, Penix, Hooker
It would be because most back up QBs would transfer right?I honestly don’t remember all that much about it but I think the success rate is really low.
Think of all the QBs who have transferred out of Notre Dame in the last decade. How many would you call successful at their next stop? Maybe Gunner Kiel?It would be because most back up QBs would transfer right?
Which meant they weren’t good enough to beat out the competition of where they were at coming in as 4/5 stars with a lot of hype. (Kiel, Jurk, etc.)It would be because most back up QBs would transfer right?
This is the real question. I will be surprised if both Pyne and Buchner are on ND's roster next season. All Pyne is doing this year is proving himself and this team is getting stronger. Buchner....is a mystery.Does Buchner stay is another question. Man, Pyne absolutely BALLING out the past two games and some people just can't be pleased. Unreal.I believe Cade could be a better QB than Pyne. Sign him up.
Even Coan was an exception, not the rule. He got hurt and lost his job, not like Mertz just wowed people in practice and he lost the job in Fall camp. Rather than have a QB controversy mid-season and in the following offseason, Chryst simply decided to move on with the young, promising QB moving forward and gave him the keys. Made Coan's decision quite simple at that point.Think of all the QBs who have transferred out of Notre Dame in the last decade. How many would you call successful at their next stop? Maybe Gunner Kiel?
Yeah Fields and Hurts and a few others have done well but they’re kind of the exception not the rule. Coan was solid and what we needed last year, but not sure he’d be an upgrade from what we’ll have in the QB room next year. Transfers transfer for reasons.
For us a transfer needs to either be willing to come in and compete (and perhaps be QB2) or be some really really good QB on a lousy team who wants a bigger stage, but frankly there are not a lot of those latter guys floating around.
