Went from an 86 to 89 on 247, he's one RB spot away from being a 90 4* recruit. Also, ESPN listed him as a 4* recruit with an 80 grade. He's a 5.7 on Rivals for now. I think you're looking at a low 4* recruit when all is said and done with the services. The dude is a great player. Super impressed with his jump in all of the rankings.

Wish he would commit already and get to work building this class instead of out visiting the enemy.

Really want this guy, I've had a Theo itch ever since he left. I want to see three hard cuts strung together leaving defenders grasping at air.

The lack of offensive skill players committed really has me antsy. Would love to lock this one in.

I think it's more of a timeline thing than anything. I don't think we have had too many in on officials but could be wrong.

No QB in class could be impacting but with Phil in class before and pyne in 20 already shouldn't be the case.

Michigan's Lorenz gave ND a CB. That's meaningful.

Allen Trieu flipped his CB from Stanford to ND.

There were a couple of Michigan articles a week or so ago that said his “Top 2” were Michigan and ND. Well all the Michigan folks put in their CB’s for ND. Hopefully he pops soon.

Really impressive film with a good handful of quality offers to back it up. He definitely looks shiftier than most of our current running backs (besides maybe Jafar and Avery). He definitely is an asset in the passing game as well, so that would probably get him on the field much earlier. Also, looks like a prime kick/punt returner.

Matt Freeman mentions “four star” athlete inbound for a visit.

Does his profile deserve an update, first post?

Yes, it can use an update but 4 stars looks premature.

ISD rates him with 4 stars and lists have nationally as 3 stars. 247 has him 3 Star for both the Composite and for their rating.

Here's this morning's 247.

So this is the guy we're hoping to get at RB?

Seems really small, and doesn't do anything spectacularly well IMO. He has good hands, but short, light, and without great speed? This would be a good get for Navy, but for ND?

I would pass if I were the staff, and try to get some momentum elsewhere.

ND has brought in some pretty big and powerful backs over the last few years. I like the idea of bringing in a back with a different skill set and build.

As long as he is paired with another back in this class, I like Kyren in this class.

I haven't studied the field of the 400 RBs looking for D1 offers this year, but I'd take the field given it's only May.

When I watched the film, I don't see a different skill set. He's no faster or more agile than the previous backs, he's just smaller IMO. He's not making up for that lack of size based on quickness or speed. He's like a miniature Tony Jones Jr. And if Tony Jones Jr was miniature, IDK if he'd be able to play here.

Couple things:

1.) 5'10", 200 pounds is far from small. Especially for a 16-17 year old kid. It amazes me that people still continue to believe that kids at this age won't get bigger.

2.) He is the same height in high school as Greg Bryant was in college. He's about the same height as a large majority of college backs for that matter. Not sure where the "short" thing is coming from.

3.) His speed might not be great, but he's plenty fast enough. Add in his ability in the passing game, he'd be a great asset in the offense.

4.) Notre Dame, Michigan, Stanford, Wisconsin, and Michigan State disagree with your assessment.

5'10" means he'll one day measure 5'9" if he got to the NFL combine. And he's listed at 187 on his HUDL, which is where I watched the film. So if it's 200 elsewhere, maybe he put on ~15 pounds. Would that even be a good thing since he's not explosive? IDK.

Greg Bryant was faster, more agile, and way stronger. There was no soggy body on GB, RIP.

Disagree. You want to be big and fast. But if you can't have both, you need to be one of them. I don't think he's either.

His own home state doesn't, and about 100 other colleges. I'll not harp on him anymore.

But I'll be OK if ND passes on him, or vice versa. I'll take the chances with the field and 9 months to go til signing day.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. But I think it'd be foolish to believe that a kid won't get bigger, faster, and stronger as he continues to get older, mature, and once Balis gets his hands on him.

And the home state school, Missouri, has offered him as well.

That's true for every kid in the 2019 class though.

So give me a kid that's already 6', 215 with OK speed and going to get BFS.. Or the kid that's 5'10" 185 with great speed who's going to get BFS... Not one who's 5'10" 195 with OK speed.

I think your evaluation is garbage. I'll take Kyren all day, he looks like he has Theo cutting ability and really good acceleration. He does lack top end speed and he's not a big RB but with his hands, he could be a Theo clone for us. Watch Theo's highlights and remind yourself of how fun it was to watch him play.

KW can play a couple positions and given our current WR board, you take him x2. I'm hoping he's a RB for us (if we get him).

I don't see cutting ability or the general athleticism to warrant a comparison to Theo.

I think people see small back with average speed and good hands and hope for Theo, because that's the ideal ceiling for that profile player.

But I hope you're right.
