It will definitely be a big year for Jack. The production per snap stat that has latched on can be viewed a couple ways but time will tell. I expect it to fall off a bit with regular playing time.

I think there is a lot to be said about having a coach (staff) that has the ability to identify a skill set and put a player in the proper position to maximize them individually to impact the collective unit.

Kiser is solid but 1st round is a bit of a stretch. Will be interesting to see how lbs perform this year and which ones play the most. I want to see a lot of the young studs get a real shot. Ausberry, KVA, Kia, etc. Also time for Sneed and Bowen to ball out. Really would be huge for this defense.

There might be one linebacker taken in the 2025 first round, if at all. It's not going to be Jack Kiser. That's crazy.

I just want him to sell out this season and play like he can. That's it. Lead by example, make the tackles, do the job. I'm confident that he will. Just need him to stay healthy.

How are you defining talent here?
Unique physical attributes you typically get in the first round from their respective position.

Example Blake fisher and olu fashanu are physically very similarly talented, olu just significantly better. Kiser isn’t like typical first round lbs from size/length and athleticism/agility, although I do think he will run a good 40 and that will help him get drafted mid rounds.

I’m higher than most on Kiser I think, but no way he’s first round.

Blake Fisher was a second rounder which nobody here thought would be the case so who knows.

Difference imo is that fisher always has had top 2 round talent just never played that way at nd… kiser has played well but just doesn’t have that talent to go early

Fish played better than he gets credit for. Part of the problem was he was constantly compared to Alt who was a phenom and was a Top 5 pick even as a Sophomore. People forget Fish was starting LT before he went down with the injury, which paved the way for Alt to win the job and get experience. Big Fish had good numbers, Blake gave up one more Sack and had the same number of Hits/Hurries as JC Latham who went a few spots after Alt, although Latham played an extra game. His numbers were also very comparable to Jordan Morgan and Patrick Paul who both went before him. For reference, Isaiah Adams went just 12 spots after Fisher and had 3 times as many sacks given up, and more than twice the Hurries at 20.

Point being, he was better than he got credit for, he just wasn't Alt phenomenal and no one was. Fish struggled a bit with Clemson's good edge rushers last year, but that's a bit to be expected. Otherwise he had a pretty good season.

That was such a strange year. We almost beat #1 FSU at their place and then utterly fell apart. So many injuries on the defense, too. I think we were rotating backup linebackers in at DL by the end of the season.
Yeah it was

There was a little bit of smoke and mirrors thru that FSU game

They got a little lucky to win the Stanford game. UNC game was a harbinger of what was to come. And while FSU was definitely still a good team--that year they were more probably like top 10 good, not #1 good

But it definitely all fell apart FSU

But man, that offense could score in bunches when they got going. Think it was actually better than the 2015 offense when it was clicking on all cylinders. But just too inconsistent

Louisville was another game where he struggled a bit. Good opponents in both cases though

I think "struggled a bit" is putting it way too nice of his performance vs clemson, he absolutely got whipped almost all game.

And yet neither of Clemson's DEs had a sack in that game or a TFL. Jeremiah Trotter at MLB was the disruptive force in that game. He might have come off the edge a time or two, I don't remember, but the point is Fisher played very well last season and to say that he didn't is silly.

Curious, don’t know, what was his grade?

Love that we plan on rotating 5 LB's
Somewhat coach speak IMO

They aren't rotating 5 LBs for 2 traditional spots, since we are in nickel and hopefully Dime a ton!

I think they will have roles for 5 LBs depending on game and situation. Example, I don't expect much rotation in vs A&M but some very unique 3rd down and short and 3rd down and long roles for the LBs. But say, second game vs NIU, you could see a rotation.

Or maybe i'm completely wrong and Drayk & KVA rotate and or Kiser, Sneed, Ausberry have some rotation every few series. I don't love that, because it means someone hasn't clearly won the starting position. You look at Betrand and Marist last year, they played so much because the coaches felt they were that much better than the 2nd string.

It could just be that there are 5 really good LBs. I think that’s the case here. All 5 could easily end up being drafted over the next 3 years.

Ausberry is working as the nickel
Sneed will be Rover when in base
KVA and Bowen rotate at Mike
Kiser is the Will with the communicator in helmet.

Ausberry was cross training as nickel but no longer as they are comfortable with hobbs and Moore there now

We don’t play with 4 lbs at the same time other than goal line

We will play like normal under golden with 2 lbs on the field at the same time as the most used

Kiser's linebacker coach Max Bullough. "He is someone that…is here [holding hand way up high], and he's pushing the ceiling even more.‌
"And that's not coach-talk. Like, he's gotten faster. He's the fastest guy out there every single day. We grade it every day. He's the fastest guy out there."

You guys like him. I wouldn't have taken him.

We'll see how he does, I won't forget 4 years from now.

My logic is that a person who watches film for a living might have a clue. That talent it's something you need a graduate degree to notice/not notice. And that I wouldn't take him.

You haven't put a post together with more than 2 sentences since Vietnam. Coming in for a 1-sentence rip on people post is about as valuable as smearing sh!t on the toilet seat.

Be a lot better tomorrow. Or continue to be irrelevant here like you have for years.
I mean we have to bump these typical koon posts.
