If he's going to be a counter regardless, then he should give it to someone else. Injury doesn't really make sense as a concern, because he'd just get a medical scholarship.

Yup, the only reason to potentially keep it, is if he just wanted the flexibility to walk away from football in the midst of pursuing his degree.

Pete Sampson already reporting that Kiser has been very impressive since he early enrolled. I think this guy will be ST starter out of the gate.

Hearing that also.

However he had surgery on his shoulder today and will be out for spring practice

Can't find anything. He was fine yesterday.

Polian did an interview yesterday. One of the things he commented on was how awesome Kiser is doing. Going from that, to surgery and out for the spring is strange.

According to Tom Loy, Polian used the term "phenomenal" to describe ND linebacker Jack Kiser

Kiser had a lingering issue and team orthopedist said get it fixed
So they did

Bummer about the shoulder.

Elsewhere, ND fans are surprised that Kaiser (the 3*, 1A bum who didn't deserve an ND offer) is showing out early. Elite athletes tend to look good in the weight room and drills. I hope him and Simon end up the Coney/Tranquil in '20 & '21

But what does Koon think?

Gosh you love me. We have a very celebrity-fan relationship. You're always thinking and talking about me, meanwhile you never register on my radar or find your way into my posts unless you call me out. Its extremely flattering. I'll get you an autograph sometime.

I wouldn't have taken him. We're loaded at LB.

Am I supposed to panic and change my opinion because some analysts said he looks great in winter workouts?

You know how many guys have look great in winter workouts and never start?

Panic? Don't you want him to be really good?

And what is your opinion based on at this point? It's one thing to have a general distrust of athletes who look great on tape against bad competition, but it seems like his size and athleticism and work ethic have all been confirmed.

I hope he's the next Drue Tranquill.

For a guy who was playing against Children based on his competition, he was impressive on offense but his defensive film didn't impress me. He also looks tiny, but apparently everyone's "eye test" is giving him 6'2", which I also hope is true.

I don't think we needed 4 linebackers in this class.

Out of Asa Turner, Kiser, Luifau, Ekwanu, and Bertrand.... Kiser and Bertrand were guys I wouldn't have taken, but Bertrand without being guaranteed a spot made sense.

I'm not convinced on Kiser, but I will give him credit for being transcendent against the awful level of competition he faced in high school. If you're going to make the leap from that to championship-level FBS football, you had better at least be crushing the will to live of your high school competition.

Until they put on pads we never know
I can tell you based on workouts
Team agility- LBs Kiser was first
Ten yd burst - kiser was 2nd (Bilal)

He's just a freshman
As early enrollees they all have a long way to go

I cleaned it up.

It's okay to discuss a guy's ratings and potential, and whether or not you would take him, but it's not okay to use that to clog the thread with personal beef and debate.

Keep it about Kiser, not Koon's prognosticating abilities (or lack there of).

Gotcha. I tend to assume that when they go after an Indiana kid, they've done their homework--but they've definitely had some misses in that department.

I think this is one of the differences with this defensive staff versus other. Starting with Lea, I think this defensive recruiting staff does a really good job of getting to know the prospects and families. Lea always mentions how he wants to develop deep relationships with recruits and then you read about Asa Turners recruitment and you realize it's true.

I’ve never had an injury or surgery like that, but I feel like I always hear that shoulder problems are holding back players from ever developing like they could have if they were healthy.

What’s the probable outcome from an injury like this? Does he always have a bad shoulder, or is this the kind of injury that he’ll easily get past with time?

I thought it was just cleaning some stuff up? I was not under the impression that this was a Nicky Barratti level shoulder problem
