No one is saying that he is a guaranteed stud or that he'll even be a starter. But sometimes I think we forget that we cheer for a team that is ALWAYS under the 85 player limit (self imposed sanctions) and us, as fans, get way too picky.
The kid has offers from schools I trust defensively in Notre Dame, MSU, and Iowa. I'm gonna trust Prister's evaluation over those schools? Not a chance.
I'm also tired of the staff slow playing recruits in the past and just having it bite them in the behind when its all said and done. Build a solid foundation (Kiser) and go after the bigger fish after.
I LIKE THE ADDITION, welcome Jack.
Ignore the haters, prove the haters (Koon) wrong.![]()
Judging the overall level of competition in relation to a prospect is one thing, but making generalizations based on previous recruits and their teams probably doesn't really apply.
First, Barajas had trouble staying motivated at ND. He didn't put the work in to get himself in position to play. His story could apply to any player, but that's different than saying "Josh wasn't good so this kid probably won't be because they both played small Indiana football." Josh wasn't good because he didn't develop. That doesn't mean another small-school player will suffer the same fate.
Second, saying a small team would lose to a big team doesn't mean much, because there are always competitive outliers. Some 6A teams are garbage, and they're only 6A because of school population. Some 1A teams are powerhouses because they have small populations, but a high percentage of kids that attend specifically for football.
In case anyone is interested in a slightly different evaluation of his play:

Kiser older brother played at Illinois State, his sister was a two-time state champion in track and currently runs for Louisville, his dad was a big ten champ for Purdue, his uncle was big ten athlete of the year. His dad coached track at Notre Dame in the 90's. DNA don't lie folks. Kid is special and it doesn't matter where he plays. He captains Indy Select team that features David Bell. If you got the it they will find you. ND coaches love this kid
And there you have it folks.....straight from Jack Kiser's mom.
JK Edge.
Lol love it man
Just a fan who follows kiser/Pioneer and ND
Not family but know the family well obviously
I can never be proven wrong. If there's signs of me being wrong, I just move the goal post. I'm an elite Hedger.
Come on, you know that by now.
Here's the thing...Kiser's Film is unbelievable.
10 minutes and 29 seconds of unbelievable playmaking. He is a stud on offence, defence and ST.
In fact I don't know what more Kiser could have done in those 10:29.
If Prister is saying the competition is weak... no problem...but to say the film is weak is absolute garbage.
Yuuup.
I guess if Kiser was the only LB for the class I can see why some would be concerned, BUT ND's had two good/great LB classes and I would expect to pick up a few more this go around.
How many times have us ND fans watched some 3* go out there and play like an absolute maniac, have an incredible game and we say to ourselves, "man, I wished ND had more players like that?!"
Looks like this kid LOVES TO PLAY FOOTBALL. Give me a roster full of those guys any day of the week than a bunch a prima donna’s.
the flip side of all of that is Drew White/David Adams who both were HIGHLY successful HS athletes but likely will never see the field at ND and are basically wasting roster spots. You want Kiser to be a Tranquill type and not like these two.
Both were good H.S. “football” players, not athletes. That’s the difference. Adams was never a good athlete. He was a smart/tough HS football player. The difference is Kiser is a really good athlete. Adams and White can’t dream of a sub 11 100.
Maybe we took him at QB?
How tall is Jack Kiser with/without shoes - doesn't matter - just qualify?
That's my 1 and only concern. Don't fluff me because we'll find out sooner or later. If he's 6' it is what it is, he'll have to overcome that. If he's 6'2" I'm excited.
To quote Ball State's coach when he visited him, "damn, a recruit who's actual size matches his profile, we never see that...kids who list 6'2 205 are almost always 6'0 190"
He is 6'2 pushing 6'3 and 214 right now
Prob 6'2 1/2-6'3 225-230 when he arrives officially in South Bend
Honestly been a little shocked nobody has recruited him as offensive player
Honestly where on offense?
dont get me wrong i am all in on Kiser, but at the same time we have some jilted brides on here and i can see which altars they got stranded on in the past few years
Honestly where on offense?
