What’s the story?
A CB for the Ravens posted a tweet in response to the Ravens fullback posting a picture of himself looking yolked with the caption "Who wants this smoke?" The Ravens CB tagged Hamilton in a tweet and said he overheard Hamilton saying he wanted to line up against the fullback. Kyle them retweeted that corner and said it was a lie and he didn't want the smoke. Kyle was making a joke it seems.

Surely a gripping narrative here.

Thanks I get confused by who is talking to who etc with Twitter. I thought Hamilton may have been calling someone a prick.

I believe that the backstory to this is that Marlon Humphrey is the outspoken returning-from-injury Baltimore Raven CB who likes the spotlight in the media. Hamilton is slated to start as a rookie alongside him. Humphrey likes to haze Hamilton (hopefully this is in fun, but Humphrey is an Alabama athlete who never graduated so who knows?) When the DT/FB 300-pound monster (Patrick Ricard) put out his "challenge" (not serious, again a media twitter thing) about anyone lining up against him in an Oklahoma drill (essentially a "collision"), Humphrey claimed Hamilton said that he would.

Hamilton's reply is pretty "short." He calls it a "lie" with a period immediately. One wonders if he's sending a "short" message back to Humphrey on that one --- i.e. enough of the crap.

Hahaha it’s all a joke and good fun man.

Not sure how Humphrey’s graduation status relates at all

Some players don't like the "ND mystique" --- that goes all the way back to Catholics Vs Criminals.

There's still "irritation" about elitism in anything Notre Dame. Just listen to the occasional media shade thrown at us. I have no idea about Humphrey specifically (and don't think that this is more than locker-room hazing) but to think that no "edge" exists in any players on this issue is naive. Hamilton's short characterization of this hazing as "a lie" is the only reason that I added in the possibility that this player might have some of that edge in him, as Hamilton seems not to like the joke much.

I'm sure you're correct.

I remember the stories from my three brothers in their lockerrooms. Things would flare between teammates more often than one would expect. My brothers were the most powerful individuals in the room fortunately (weightroom record holders) and were not challenged as much. Each of them had to actually knock-out people on at least one occasion.

On one occasion, an offensive back attacked my brother from the rear with a kid's baseball bat. My brother almost killed him, but his OLine buddies hauled him off. Crap happens.

Humprehy and Ronnie Stanley are tight and host a podcast, charity events etc together. When Kyle was drafted:

2 long bombs by Miami had the CBs turning around and looking at Hamilton. Huge miscommunications on both, hopefully Kyle was in the right but

Ravens fans are not happy with him. Apparently blew an assignment to give up one of the long TD’s to Hill. Gave up almost 500 passing yards.
I guess there is a consensus that Kyle blew his coverage of one of the long bombs for a TD. There was another long throw that many are blaming on Kyle as well but there isn't a consensus on that one I guess.

A lot of pissed Ravens fans, but losing after being up 35-14 entering the 4th quarter will do that to you.

Were those both for Tyreek? Dude makes good players look bad pretty routinely.

Dolphins fan here:

Idk if it was Kyle's fault or one of their other DBs. The ravens are young back there and I think either communication was off prior to the play, during the play, or maybe there were mistakes on coverage from one/multiple of them during the play because there were definitely a couple colossal breakdowns.

Either way, I think it's an oversimplification to blame Kyle alone who played well for a majority of the game and then terribly for 3 plays in the 4th and assume it's his fault alone.

How many rookie safties are there that he would be competing with for highest PFF grade?

LOL, that's what all the Ravens fans were mockingly posting in response to the tweet.
Terrible take on twitter unless its an honest question. Any “fan” would know that he played well, and probably scored similarly to vets for the most part overall.

But I really am curious who else he would be competing with for that position.
